Why does everyone say the difficulty was raised????

i'm really curious to this statement.

here are the changes
Also, here are some additional changes that were included with the Retaliation DLC or missed in our patch notes.
- Geth Pyros can now stomp players who are downed
- Marauders can now stomp players who are downed
- Atlas now moves faster
- Atlas rocket will add a small damage-over-time effect on players that prevents shield regeneration for a short time
- Geth Prime drone now attacks players
- New map layout for Firebase White and Firebase Glacier
- Wave changes to Geth faction to account for new Geth Bomber enemy
- Wave changes to Cerberus faction to account for the new Dragoon enemy
- Carnage power can now set up Fire Explosion power combos



Ceberus
added dragoons in palce of some pahtoms

to me thats a decrese in difficulty. i'd rather take on 3 dragoons at once then 1 phantom. Phantoms are soo annoying i ususally carry a gun or power just to deal with them. Give me dragoons all day. Nothing else has changed

Atlas moves faster and missile does DOT
a little harder sure, but atlas's were soo slow before its nto a big deal. espaicially compared to a banshee to preatorian who move fast as hell.

The DOT doens't do much other then delay your shield recharge. so yes a little harder but still overall a wash since les pahntoms on the board

Geth
Added bomber took out hunters i believe in the spawn. I notice alot less of them. i could be wrong. geth have always been cheap and annoying but bombers don't do much. they just pull you out of cover and stun you if your close. BW already said they will look into "fixing" the geth. it'll probably get worked out but the bomber doens't make them harder. just makes you move more.

Pyros can stom now
Big deal. troopers stomped you fast as hell anyway. I'd see them stop shooting and run to a downed teammate. letting pyros do it too isn't a big deal.

Reapers
Maurders stomp (also fixed canibal glitch so they can execute)
again it was a glitch that they couldn't execute. they fixed a glitch and allowed 1 more type to execute. giving them 2 types which isn't a big deals ince each faction has 2 types

new map layouts
glacier lost some cover and the room of shame. didn't make it harder. a map is a map. nothing makes it harder or easier. it can only make it cheap. they rmeoved teh cheapness. geth might be cheap and we complain butshouldn't enemies complain about the FBW camping room. If i was a geth trooper i'd be like WTF i can't hit them and if i get close they grab me. this is BS lol

All in all none of it made the game harder IMO. it made it harder to sit in one spot, but the difficulty tiself hans't changed much if at all.

to compat it we got a huge buff ot FEs and CEs more gear bonus's, level 4 ammo, more ammo types, new wepaons, new powerful characters, new support characters, hazard maps etc. its not like BW hasn't equipped us to deal with this. They gave us tools, we need to learn how to use them.

I think a lot of it is just trying to get used to new stuff, and some of it is possible shield/healthgate issues. Maybe I'm imagining stuff, but it seems like I'm getting downed a lot more than usual.

Other than getting used to the Collector's tactics, I despise 1-2-3-4 hacks against Cerberus now (later waves). If your team does not put down the impending swarm of Dragoons with a Phantom in tow, it is hard as hell to get the 3rd and 4th hack done.

Well, the fact that last night I was soloing with my slayer and suddenly he just died, i don't know how or by who, he just died until i wasted all my medigel.

He was even diying after biotic charge too much :/

since the DLC/patch i noticed it alot as well. seems to happen alot more on paltinum then anyhting else. seemed to be working fine on gold for me most of the time. there is some new issue with healthgate though and enemy tracking.

They did give us tools but somethings off with health and shields. I've had full heath and shields just drop instantly. A single Cannibal ,Cerberus Trooper or Geth trooper can kill you on gold much quicker than before. Atlases now do damage over time banshees warp balls are dropping entire teams when they didn't before. My builds and equipment are the same yet I am dying more easily. Either they nerfed our shields of buffed the enemies damage or rates of fire. Considering the many threads about it somethings off.

Many people are noticing a possible issue where the health/shield gate is not always working correctly. This issue is the only one I'm concerned about - all other changes seem fine to me.

I've noticed this a lot too. Sometimes your character will just drop dead for no apparent reason, or after just one bullet, without the screen even turning red.

The spotty heathgate issue doesn't help.

Basically: Shield Gate and Health Gate are both busted on the player side, meaning a single burst from pretty much any basic trooper on Gold is capable of taking down most classes from full health/shields if they can hit with an entire burst. It's even worse with captain level enemies (Marauders, Captains, Centurians, etc). It's starting to feel like they're scoring headshots with those SMGs.

As a result, the game is easier when there's fewer grunts and more elites and melee enemies. This is just.. very very strange.

So you can't see how slower recharging shields/cheetahs with Smash/more stomping makes difficulty higher? The Pyro changes are the biggest cuz you can't just wait for them to move on before gelling or reviving a teammate. Now running into a group of Pyros mean death by stomp or waste 3-4 gels trying to get away.

Yep, shield/health gate issues. I've gone from full barriers and health to drop down dead in half a second. Don't know what hit me or what direction it came from.

I personally dislike the changes. I understand some find it enjoyable to run and gun, I don't. If I want to play that, I play BF3. ME3 was good for a more tactical approach, but right now it's too taxing to play. It was a casual shooter for me, now that's gone, I will play other stuff - ME3 can't compare to those while it would need the same attention (and the shop is one of the main reason - it feels like work now for a random item. No thank you.)

that seems like a glitch that will get fixed hopefully. it wans't an intentional difficulty buff so i dind't account for that

I think the bombers took the place of some pyros as well.. While doing my solos, I smacked loads of Geth in the face with my Kroguard and got Geth Mastery done all but the Pyro Points 3 and Bomber Points 3, surprisingly enough. I could also be wrong though. It just felt like it to me.

That we can now carry up to 8 Cobra Missiles into a single game, instantly revive an entire squad of downed allies with one medigel, and tech combo without killing the enemy (every class in the game can do it with an ammo power now) is a testament to the fact that people will whine about any and everything.

The game is now easier than it ever has been. It's hard to think back to a time when shield gate was 100%, bosses didn't take headshot damage, and half a dozen weapon mods/power evolutions were broken.

My Lord, the 3rd hack is exactly what I am talking about.  Seeing a Dragoon and Phantom round the corner when your in the middle of hacking is infuriating.   Good stuff, though.

the health/shieldgate is more than enough to make thing different, it doesnt make things harder , it just means you die easier... but ive already said in a few threads bioware did this on purpose to raise consumables useage

The difficulty does feel like it's gone up for Cerberus at least, not that I'm complaining about it.

Dragoons apparently are capable of shooting you mid-smash if you dodge away from them, though. I'd really like to know where they're keeping that gun while they smash.

the thing that buggs me the most is that there are now only 2 ammo crates on glacier it maybe the smallest map that that is no reason for the ammo shortage

exxxactly.   it IS harder.   not a lot.   Collectors are definitely harder than the other enemies.

it was a lot harder4 for a lot of people at first as we were getting used to all the changes.   i've noticed over the course of this week, it's suddenly become a lot easier.  just adapting.   new challenges are always harder than old challenges.
