Of course you don't feel that way, you're a pro at this game with all of the stuff unlocked.

Us casual players are the ones feeling the pain.

And how do you think he unlocked everything to begin with?

Is it at all possible that he plays more often and therefore has more experience and better gear?

Notice I called him a pro and called myself casual. Which obviously means I don't play as much as him.

Play the difficulty that fits you then... I am by no means a pro (being pro implies this is a profession, if this were a profession then I would be getting paid). Mass Effect 3 is the only game I have played for more than a week since it launched and games are my favorite relaxing hobby.

Playing more often than a casual gamer doesn't make someone "Pro", it just means that they play more than the casual gamer.

And the players that play more often having more gear, and on average being better players is to be expected in a game with a drop system especially RNG. If you want more gear, play more often.

I still use the weapons and characters that you "casual" players use and can do just fine. I have already finished my Avenger challenge using it on a Salarian Engineer that took no bonus weapon damage.

Congratulations, you're better at a video game than the average person. Want a cookie?

Hmmm, all I was saying is that it is still just as easy to do as it was before. Try learning some things about the game and quit blaming the "difficulty" increase on something that it isn't. Had you not come across so hostile I would have been happy to help you and even taken you into some gold games if you were on Xbox to see if I could help, but screw that offer.

Okay look, I used to be able to extract on Gold without the help of friends. So I had good strategies and I'm a fairly decent player. Now those strategies mean jack. The enemies are tougher since they have a swarm/grenade person in there. So yeah, I'm getting creamed and I don't like it. I don't like seeing threads like this because all they say to me is "l2p, if I can do it, so can everyone else." The fact is, not every one has the same skill set as you guys and not everyone has the same sense of strategy. Yet the game seems to be getting more and more geared to be catered to players like you which screws over players like us who don't want to be stuck in Bronze. Maybe you'll understand my hostility a little more now. Not that it's a big deal, it's just a game. I'm just saying punishing casual players to make pro players happy isn't the best approach to a game.

My opinion is that maybe it isn't that the difficulty was raised but maybe we are using weapons that don't do a whole lot of damage/setups that are terrible.  With challenges, it feels more compelling to use something that is not the norm to try and work towards completing a challenge. Without a doubt there are players that can use most classes or weapons without much of an issue.  It is safe to say those are few and far between for PS3 or XBOX players because of the people playing more casually on those systems than PC.  Not to say that there isn’t casual players on PC but there is more on console.

Ashen Earth made a point that influxes of players that are now in Gold/Platinum were consistent Firebase White Geth farmers. That is a simple reason why people feel the game has gotten more difficult on the difficulty they mainly play on.  The Firebase White Geth farmers reliable on grabs and hold the line strategy which now does not even work well on the previously mentioned map anymore.  The changes happen and players continue to employ strategy where ever they can because it worked so well.  The strategy works in a different setting for 3 or so waves and then something breaks lines.  Everything is thrown into chaos and one player that may adapt, runs away from the enemies while a teammate decides to struggle and revive the teammates.  Late rounds this happens with people out of consumables the one player that chose to adapt has to solo waves causing him to be frustrated with teammates at times.  Then players become dependent on those types of players that will just solo a couple waves with all of their consumables to get credits and not really bother to step down a difficulty.

New enemies that have increased speed and enemies that have had changes to their actions have had added new learning curve to for all players,

tl;dr New learning curves, people that using setups that they normally never would make a thought of using regularly and influxes of players who played more Firebase White Geth than anything else into matches has increased difficulty

Gear additions are a buff, sure, but you have absolutely no evidence of enemy nerfing. I say so because the balance changes include several buffs to enemies, and the patch and DLC changed a few behaviors that make them more effective. The Reapers have only received very minor buffs that apply to Platinum, Marauders and Cannibals can stomp downed players, a behavior change that makes them a bit trickier.

Cerberus got direct, documented buffs on July 4th. Geth have had undocumented/accidental buffs with thier stunlock and glitchiness, as well  as documented buffs (most extensive on March 13th). They also have more stomp-happy units, and pyros can't be grabbed, which is a buff of sorts. Only thing that could be seen as a nerf is headshot damage.

Just saying, you're making a claim that's demonstrably false.

Wait I havent been stomped by a cannibal they do eat your corpse and cause you to bleed out faster forcing you to gel.  You are correct that the enemies haven't been nerfed they are much more aggressive and effective now.

You mean the gear that becomes harder to get with each DLC?

It is a problem that needs to be dealt with, (I think the best solution I've seen posted was a suggestion to make the rares from the older DLCs into uncommons so they aren't saturating the rare pool forcing the less experienced players to flood into Gold lobbies) but not so much for the players that play the game more often. It makes sense that those players should be rewarded with more in game items than someone who only plays occasionally since the game works on an unlock system.

Another thing. You "pros" can take your advice and stick it up your ass. There's more of us that want to play the game for fun and enjoy learning on our own than want you to descend from the heavens and allow us to suckle at your magical teat of knowledge. Sanctimonious arrogant dudes whose greatest achievment is that they figured out how to play a video game really well. Your parents must be proud.

Yeah, I just call it a 'stomp' because it's killing downed players. The animation isn't a stomp, but the effect is the same.

You're completely allowed to ignore good advice. Don't be an ass towards people that offer it though.

Seriously, you're a dick. If you don't want good advice, don't take it. Everyone tells me my Drellguard build is wrong, but I have fun with it, so I keep it. I don't get mad at them for suggesting better stuff, because that would be completely ****ing stupid.

Gold and Platinum Difficulties
- Enemy shield/barrier damage gates on weapon damage reduced from 100% to 90%, which
means 10% of the remaining weapon damage after impacting shields/barriers will pass
  through to health.

Enemy Shields and Barriers
- (Platinum) The delay before enemy shields/barriers start regenerating increased from 4 to 6 seconds

Cerberus Phantom
- (Platinum) The force threshold to cause Phantoms to stagger lowered to Gold levels

Gold and Platinum Difficulties
- Enemy shield/barrier damage gates on weapon damage reduced from 90% to 75%, which means
25% of the remaining weapon damage will pass through to health.

and Boss headshot damage coming back. So not one, but 2 nerfs to the enemies shield gates. Phantoms can be staggered far easier (any Vanguard can charge and do it). Delayed how quickly the enemies shields regenerated at the cost of them regaining more, but much weaker.

Then take your cranky ass back to bronze and learn on your own. If a difficulty is too challenging for you the logical thing to do is lower the difficulty. Now if you insist on playing a difficulty beyond your capability why not be open to advice to help you get better at it? Not all of us are jerks, I don't look down on someone because they are worse at a video game than me. My one and only issue is having players leech because they want something for "nothing." If your teammates are doing everything that they can to win, you should do the same even if it is not as much as someone else.

If its become stressfull hard and not fun challenging why don't you go 1 difficulty notch down and see if you find it more fun?

Again, because of the effort invested/rewards. Gold now demands roughly the same effort (at least from me) than plat did before the patch. Suddenly my rewards are less by 40%. Why play the game for less rewards? My time is limited, and suddenly for some people the new reward amount will be under their threshold.

Sure, badges and banner ease a bit on that, but most of the people don't care that much about their epeen to make that work as a replacement.

If you only play for rewards thenyou should stop playing and play a game you play for fun.

rewards are a by product you earn while having fun and doing a good job. ME3 MP isn't a govnerment handout, you get rewarded for doing good. you don't for doing bad. The problem with this generation is kids get trophies and medals for trying. WTF is that BS. people wnat eveyrhting given to them fore free w/o putting anything into it.

Games are supposed to be a fun hobby, the second it stops being fun for me i'll move on. until then i'll play. I don't care about the credits or rewards, i earn them while having a good time by playing well

Question: Is it harder to get a rare now than at release becuase of RNG and the bloadted store?

Answer: Yes

Question: Has the difficulty been buffed constantly since release

Answer: Yes

Question: Has credit earning been buffed since release

Answer: No(not in a meaningful way, 3K for silver is basically nothing)

Since release it has become constantly harder to get meaningful rewards that you want. A game may be fun, but part of that fun is progressing and feeling like you've earned something. Constantly having your rewards be more useless equipment(hello ammo) is not fun, it's depressing.

in 1 word FALSE

at release time there were only 3 packs
recruit, vet, SP

now you have JEP and PSP a

also you know have better weapons and gear bonus's and better characters.

at release geting gels was all luck based. you cuoldn't but a pack and get 5 guarenteed. same with rockets.
at release a rare cost 60k not 2 for 99k like it is now
at release you dind't have teh GI, MQE, destoyer, fury, kroguard, demolisher, TGI, GE, and a bunch of other powerfull classes
at release you dind't have elite players playing PUGS carrying people thorugh gold. they were all in bronze and silver learning the ropes
at release you didn't have FEs and CEs able to be exploded so easily
at release you coudln't carry 5 extra greandes or 3 extra missiles
at release you didn't have you tube videos with tuttorials
at release you dind't have harriers, pre nerf krysea, PPR, and a bunhcof other awesome guns

Congradulations you just helped to point out why it's so much more difficult now to gear yourself(other than PSP).

The store is top heavy and bloated with all the new items constantly being added. Finding something you like has become much harder than it was before. With BW constantly increasing enemy difficulty but not buffing common/uncommon mods new and casual players are going to start hitting steeper and steeper walls.

With difficulties being buffed more players are forced back down into silver, their credit accumulation will be decreased and will take even longer to progress even if you ignore the item influx.

The store needs to change to make things more accesible. If people are going to be forced down difficulties then they should still be able to progress at a reasonable rate. AKA what they were before the changes and influx of items skewing rng.

the game was meant to work your way up. not to be able to jump into gold as an N7 1

what you are feeling is sense of entitlement. thats what you are basing everything in a mindset of i should be able to have what i want becuase i rbought teh game

how is it fair to people who worked their way up form bronze from day 1. that put in over 600 hours. that took teh time to learn the game and the ins and outs. We earned these wepoans. I didn't get given a harrier X becuas ei asked for it. I worked my ass off to gte it and had fun in teh process. I met a bunch of cool people to play with and got really good. In no way Do i think i'm an elite top ranked player but i know that I dind't feel entitled to anyhting.

Who gives a ****? Doesn't matter if it's necessary or altruistic. Don't need their advice, don't take it. You're still an ass hole for acting like it's somehow a bad thing.

If you dont' take build advice, the you're a hypocrite if you give it out. If you don't share information on builds or enemy tactics, then you add absolutely nothing. If all you do is complain, then you add absolutely nothing. What exactly is your great role on this site? Why are you even here?

I spent multiple weekends helping this "community" out with weekend operations that the players themselves said they would not have been able to do. I have helped plenty of players with builds, tactics, and simple things to help their situational awareness. I don't do it to stroke my ego, I do it because this is the one game I have really enjoyed for MONTHS  and enjoyed helping players move to difficulties they may or may not have been ready for. However, the consistant **** comments such as this have driven nearly every helpful member off this board and I for one am more than happy to speak my mind. Should it result in a ban. so be it. But players like you are the reason this board are full of nothing but whining and complaining "Oh, this is too hard. Nerf this, buff that" which always turns into some sort of flame war.

I bet any player that has come across me on Xbox would tell you that I am just a good player that enjoys helping people out, but with people like you that is changing more and more.

I will vouch for SlimJim being a good player. I've done a couple PuGs with him.

It's just the lack of understanding that I don't like. Just because people aren't as good as you doesn't make them whiners. Even though you and some of the people here don't mean it, your posts reek of "l2p".
