Had a few crashes at first boss (ogre in Ostragar) after a trouble free start. Updated drivers, turned down graphics (running a very high end computer: twin 3.2 GHz processors overclocked to 3.73 GHz, twin 2 GB graphic cards, 8 GB ram, etc - much more power than required for DAO, so acceptable), i.e. did the usual stuff and seemingly resolved the issue. Almost finished Lothering when I got a crash. Game then froze on restart (hard - not to desktop, not alt-ctrl-del task manager end task, but turn off/restart PC frozen). First time it froze at the menu, same with second, third time it froze immediately after "play", as it has on succeeding tries. All freezes force complete reboot. I'll try turning off the overclocking but if that fails, then it is uninstall, reinstall.
Therefore the question: I have downloaded the two DLCs and wonder if I lose them on the uninstall/reinstall. If the answer is yes, then I will just walk away from the game until the, unlikely, day that Bioware puts out a playable version.
Do I lose DLCs with a reinstall?

Yes, you need to reinstall them with uninstall/reinstall, but no, you don't have to buy them again (since they're tied to your account). And IMHO, this isn't BW's fault... either your PC thanks to the overclocking doesn't have enough 'free space' on your cooling system to take off the heat (DA:O is known to take about max of everything your PC has), or there's some weird thing on your PC that doesn't communicate well with DA:O... BTW, which OS do you use?

First, thank you for the reply. Second, Windows 7 (just upgraded from Vista so I can play Oblivion with the 200 mods or so). Have my thermal monitor going and it doesn't appear to be an overheating issue (nothing above low 30s real degrees/90 US degrees). Plus it won't start up on a PC that has been off for hours and has just been turned on early this morning, SoCal time. Anyway, it is uninstall/reinstall time. May be back if that doesn't work.
BTW, I agree that this may not be Bioware's fault - but the forum is full of crash threads and the patches have zero 'stability content'. Plus, as a very longtime player of TES games, my tolerance for crashes is pretty high. I do expect to be at least able to start the game however or, as with TES games, have some chance of fixing fatal crashes and with the company at least feigning interest in the issue(s). But everyone knows Bethesda puts out buggy games; that is not Bioware's rep so this is disappointing, maybe unfairly so.

I know exactly what you're talking about
Anyway, i just recently upgraded from Vista to 7, and did have trouble with the DLC due to the DAUpdater service not working properly. In the end i had to download and install them manually, but after that i've had no issues. I do suspect that problem may prevent me from getting any further DLCs' though.

Uninstall/reinstall was a fail. Computer still completely freezes right after trying to start the game. I may give this a shot on my backup PC which was a state of the art PC 6 years ago and is my TBS system now. Thank you for the bit on the DLCs; my DAO fatality occurred a couple of hours after using the in-game downloader. Not sure what to do about it as I didn't reinstall them after the uninstall, but it is a clue.
My sons should be over this afternoon and maybe that money spent getting them through university with computer science degrees will pay off.
If all that fails, it's wait for a patch time (and back to trying to convert all those Oblivion mods to OMOD format so I can use FCOM, Wrye Bash, BOSS, OBMM, OBSE etc to get them to run together). Love the game; hate that it takes (me) a week to get the modded version to work.

Today I upgraded to Win7 from Win XP and I moved my Dragon Age folder in My Documents to the new Documents folder to keep my saves and everything. I logged in with my original account and my saves appear to be fine but the game doesn't allow me to load them because my Stone Prisoner isn't authorized... What am I supposed to do?
How come everything is recognized but the DLC is "unauthorized"?

Upgraded today aswell, had the same problem, I ran the .exe what the topic "Potential DLC Issues with no CD Key in your registry" suggested, then it was fine afterwards.
Edit: Haha fine, if you don't consider it weird, that Shale got Iron Golem looks in one of the post-coronation saves. Funny.

Without knowing what your issue is, the only solution I can suggest is try re-DLing from in-game.
