Some things can be done with tactics, while some things cant. In general, I find that tactics can be used decently for warriors (except Shale, which I find completely useless in AI mode, she just stands around looking stupid) and rogues (except that I cant get them to backstab, but my rogues are usually set up for ranged combat anyway)

Its the mages I cant set up decent tactics for. For example:

1. I have Wynne set as a healer, but you cant set her up to revive characters properly. I need the option "party member dead >> revive"

2. For spells with area of effect I need the option "if N or more enemys in the same area while NONE of my characters >> cast fireball

I lost count on how many times members of my party has died because of friendly fire from my mages.

Also, I need the tactics option "turn everything off when you see no enemies". My party keeps wasting healing potions and/or lyrium potions _after_ the battle, when they would have healed by themselves in a few seconds anyway.

So, since I cant set up tactics the way I want them, I usually control most of the actions manually (focusing on the spellcasters) since that is the only way to win some of the harder battles.

But, doing it manually is annoying with 1 mage, time-consuming with 2 and a PITA with 3 mages. Also, since a decently played mage is that much more powerful then warriors and rogues, its a lot easier beating the game having your character as a mage (preferably Arcane warrior, with tons of mana and several area-of-effect spells; with that setup you can usually solo most battles on the hard setting)

Simpely, I agree that there are more tactical options needed.

Nevertheless, I like playing the game on the ps3.

Love your idea, the tactics script can be as complex as computer programming language....this is the future of RPG, everyone just writes the script and then watch the battle plays out itself...
