I hate the helmets. Would rather look at my character's head. I'm guessing the answer is no, but does anyone know if you can turn your helmet off?

Likewise.

In general, I hate helmets.

In any game I play that lets me hide helmets, or even worse, capes, I hide them.

Cool hats now, on the other hand, are nice to toggle on when wanted.

Woulda seemed an obvious option for a game like this. What were they thinking?

you cant hide helmets (so glad they did not put that feature in)

If you want the armor stats/set bonus wear it

if you want to look at yourself dont wear one & get no bonus

or put it on when needed eg: fighting

I actually like to see the helmets as it fits for this style of game, you don't walk into combat with a guy with a giant mallet without wearing something on your head after all.  What I would have liked better, though, is the ability to have your characters walk around without the helmets on until combat starts, then see them pull out the helmets and put them on when charging into battle, as a sort of "It's on" thing...

They already do that by pulling out their weapons.  Imagine having to do that and put on a helmet.

Wait, let me finish buckling my belt and throwing on my boots.

Helmets are removed (or hidden) automatically for conversations. I honestly think that's a good balance. I don't look that closely at my avatars during combat.

Yeah, well, it would still look good. :P

There should be a "hide helm" option, the item is still equipped, but not displayed. They can do it for cutscenes, why not all the time?

This^^

Very easy to implement since the base is already there.

Honestly I don't see why it's not included at launch since it's such a great feature, instead helms magically vanish when you start a conversation with someone.. that's way more retarded if you ask me.

There is no argument what so ever to not have this feateutre put in since it would be completely OPTIONAL if you want to show your helm all the time or not.

Ugh, I don't like how your helmet disappears for conversations. I'd like the option to turn that off so if I'm wearing a helmet it's shown all the time unless I take it off.

I hope the add the option to turn/hide helmets...on a per character basis.

Just like you can auto-level a character by toggling it.....

Issue is...I want my tank's helm to stay (it rules) but i want to ditch the damn condom looking hats my rogues and the....no words to describe it...THING the mage wears.

Honestly, having one tick box for the whole party would be sufficient but I would prefer it on a character to character basis.

This thread shows why that no matter what Bioware does someone isn't going to like it.

They need to add three options:

Always show helm (including cutscenes)

Never show helm

Default (hide during cutscenes)

How hard would that be? Please BioWare? :]

I do this as well. Usually however, only within a camp or village. If I am out in the wild, then it's safty first, over appearance.

I never wore any helmets on my mage just because they look so ridiculous. Who made those and said to themselves "FEATHERS AND POM POMS SO THAT MAGES LOOK LIKE TODDLERS? JOB WELL DONE!" I mean a couple that looked like that would be amusing, but there are no regular hoods, they all have crazy stuff on them.

The helmet options for mages are the ugliest thing I've ever seen. There is so much potential here, just a pretty headband would be great. Love the game though :).

I usually walk around without my helmet and put it on when I have to face something difficult. Same for Alistair, since he's eye candy.
