It's not going to happen. They don't have a humanoid skeleton so it's a no go.
I do like Elcor but I can't see them happening. Rachni are far more feasible: they can wield weapons, they can use biotics, they can melee (tentacles to stomach anyone?) and would move faster than Elcor. The cover problem isn't much of an issue, like with Volus. They would still be able to use soft cover etc.

Yes! The way I see it, the Elcor would have a turret which uses whichever weapon you have out, and oodles of shields. Their powers would be a storm of about four homing missiles, defense matrix, and a combat drone. However, they wouldn't be able to take cover and would be very slow, without being able to sprint. Their melee would have to be a rearing attack with a shockwave that staggers enemies.

Deadly syns, if you read my posts..... They do not need crazy amounts of shields and health.

You do realise Elcor can't "rear up" and strike the ground. They're so heavily built, they just can't do it. Hugh gravity atmospheres are a b*tch.

Strawbatmoose: they wouldn't use cover. They would be cover. The challenge of being an Elcor would be deciding when it is the appropriate time to strengthen your offensive skills and when to manage your shields. You would have to constantly manage your capacitor.

they just move way too slow to be viable in the fast paced environment we're used to in multiplayer.
If Bioware does end up adding one though, just make it an ultra rare. and a vanguard.

Elcor would not rely on physical actions to do anything. They are simply tech engines.

I didn't say anything about cover and Elcor. I just said they won't happen.
And it's strawhat not strawbat.

They enable new strategies. The point. Suit different playstyles.

Strawhatmoose: I know they won't happen without a paid project. This is how they could work in a fun manner.

they would get killed so fast  the way you made them it would be pointless no offence but  this is a bad idea Elcor do not fit into this type of conflict in tight areas at all

Still doubtful. They can hardly move around. They can't "be cover" and and all tat stuff you say if you can't move around. Also, they would pretty much be all passive powers that you activate and let them do the work? We have a better chance of rachni.

Here is an idea for the Elcor soldier

movement: slow , Stagger immunity
dodge: none - can't take cover
light melee: slow high damage
heavy melee: AOE stomp
health/shields: 1500/1500

abilities:

turret - passive like hawk, starts off like mattock maxed out like typhoon
bubble shield - passive like biotic bubble but moves with character weapon damage buff and Dmg protection
Defensive grenades - Grenade power short range multiple grenade fired from shoulders
Living Tank - Ammo , shields, Dmg Protection
Fitness - you know it already

think the weapons for him mounted on his back should be heavy list below:

M-100 Grenade Launcher
ML-77 Missile Launcher
M-451 Firestorm
M-490 Blackstorm
M-622 Avalanche
M-920 Cain
Arc Projector
Collector Particle Beam
Geth Spitfire
Reaper Blackstar
Cerberus Particle Beam
M-560 Hydra

- question is the cobra should have a permanent mount on the back as well as the heavy weapon

if a volus could be mounted up there as well would be great lol

Syns I will say it again: READ MY EARLIER POSTS. You insist on saying they will get killed when I have explained over and over again exactly how they could tank above platinum. It is a simple concept!
Straw hatmoose: they are supposed to walk slowly to make up for their survivability. They can be cover for other teammates in that way.

@Tain
You have it perfectly with elcor's shield/health. He wouldn't use raw tanking abilities because that would be unrealistic. The training tree would have to vary slightly from other classes to allow the appropriate modules and gear to skill bonuses. Thank you for understandig that I mean passive turrets :) elcor should be able to have very powerful turrets at the expense of tanking ability. More than small arms weapons.

How are they going to cover team mates if they can't get to them in the first place. Team mates will move around erratically all over the map leaving this guy behind. He can't do much for support if he can't get to his team mates in the first place. You can't expect everyone to camo behind the Elcor for the whole game.

He functions as a retreat stronghold. You know how the demolishers pylon immedietely rejuvenates partial shields when you run into its radius? Same with elcor, only you are drawing power from its capacitor. Of course I don't mean for teamates to hide behind it the entire match. That is why he walks slow and it would run his capacitor dry anyway, killing at least him. His role is to hold part of the map in the team's favor while the rest clear out other areas. I wll be back in a few hours.

I think the Elcor's "turrets" on their backs should use the weapons you selected<-<

Say 1 turret is a Revenant and the other a...claymore?

The only way to do it, really. Not sure how aiming would work with a giant elephant blocking your screen.

I picture it being sort of like firing a mounted gun. The camera moves up so that it's centered on the turret, and as you look around the turret pivots but the elcor stays still, or maybe turns slowly to match where the turret's pointing eventually. It'd work more like the camera in a car game rather than an over the shoulder one.

As for weapons, your equipped weapons, along with the missile launcher and maybe a grenade launcher if applicable, would all be mounted to the turret. You'd only fire one at once, but switching weapons would be instant rather than delayed by an animation.

Shield boost, like the volus have, could be used to keep them alive out in the open. They'd probably have to be immune to sync kills both for gameplay and animation reasons. It'd also be cool if they could plant themselves and let teammates use them for cover (as in, hit the do everything button and actually stick to them like you would a wall.)

I know that I am way late posting this but.... I believe that this idea could be plausible and would personally love to see this in the game. I love playing a heavy combat/support role.

Ah yes of course. I can now take cover behind an elcor while being chased by a brute, banshee, praetorian or being shot at by a scion. In the meantime my shields would regenerate, reload my weapon, have a cup of coffee and once well, healthy and caffeinated I can return to the game. Very convenient an elcor.:innocent:

But seriously folks, it's an interesting idea.
