That aside, I hope the cadet-missy got out of that mess. Shame about her friend.

I really liked them too. That relationship was my favorite part of the previous episode, it got me laughing in what was otherwise a very depressing espisode for me.
As they first started talking, I was immedietly aware that they were using the Bechdel test. And there are only two real uses I've seen for that in television. So I'm like, if they're going the lesbian route, I bet she'll make some dumb comment about gun barrel length. & she did. & then the object of her affection called her out on her crap, & I thought that was one of the funniest scenes yet. Took an instant liking to that lady. I was hoping she'd live, but that was a pretty big death considering who offed her.

I haven't read through the comics past this point though. I have many hopes for the series but I wonder what could be in store. Zombies feel like less & less of a threat to me, even though the show keeps making them one. I cannot see civilization being completely gone, even at this point. I'd like to see what happens when the characters find that again. "Jericho" made it through this apocalyptic cycle in less than two seasons, I imagine in WD that civilization will bring a host of new problems for the group as it did for the characters in Jericho.

I agree.  When I think apocalyptic environment, I think Fallout 3 as a good example.  This is clearly a different set of circumstances, but I do enjoy the idea of the lone stranger trekking across the terrain.  It seems now that there are plenty of survivors within miles of each other and the zombies are just like gnats in the way.  Remember when they found Hershal's farm? It was like...wow...survivors... should we trust them.  Lately, we have communities of civilizations...  Its okay, just not my preference.  (Maybe that's why I like Fallout 3 more than New Vegas).

Mh...I was wondering: anyone got an idea which kind of tank that was?
Got to question the practicality of keeping such a thing post-breakout at any rate: not a terribly high operation range and requires ungodly amounts of fuel.

The fast facts from The Talking Dead said it was a Sherman tank from the 1970s, owned by a private collector.

The 'meat-shield' was somewhat silly, given that assault rifles were leveled at him.
Generally speaking, about all of the crew getting away was...awkward. Couple more casualties of the main-cast would not have hurt.

Realistically, the bullets should have ripped through Daryl.

That said, the group following the Governor were a pack of idiots, so the fact that they were unable to kill off any main characters is not surprising.

The Governor always struck me as someone who, even before the zombie apocalypse, was fairly egotistical (i.e. gotta be in charge because he knows he knows best). That was likely just amplified after his wife's death and then his daughter's turning.

I do agree that a big undercurrent in themes is that even with a unified threat (walkers), humans in general are still their own worst enemy. We are seeing the best and worst of people - best in that very different personality types are banding together for survival (such as Rick's group), but also the worst in that instead of that sort of unity growing outward, we are seeing different groups of survivors turn tribal and clannish... killing each other for supplies because "my" clan needs them and screw that other clan, instead of merging together and putting resources together to form larger groups.

That's what I like about this show, its not like every other zombie thing. George Romero can say what he likes, most zombie stuff is about a bunch of people who shoot zombies and nothing ever happens. Instead here, you've got many more problems aside from the zombies. Such as shelter, supplies, sickness, other groups of people, etc.

Did you all hear about the new zombie type that's going to be in Season 5?

They're calling it a Paul Walker. It's fast and furious...

Repeating that (bad) joke for this thread, since I think people here would get a kick out of it. Or condemn me to Hades for all eternity... dealer's choice.

I condemn you to Hades for all eternity, as humor is a spawn of Satan.

You know who I miss? Michonne's walker pets. We actually bought someone the bobbleheads as a Christmas gift. Image IPB

I accidentally posted this in the Telltale TWD thread first, and squashed it. Oops.

I'm not wishing this bastard anything. The guy can already get naked with Meg, what else does he want? Even if it's just acting xD

So this season's off to a good start. Especially with the second episode. I liked that the one girl survived from Brian's group, & she's now traveling with Glenn. Any suspicion of older blonde girl being the psychopath have been validated. I hope they wont make Eugene a liar this time around, I thought that was underwhelming in the comic. Predictions: Carol was already aware of the girl's problems and was covering for her, a confrontation between the girl & Carl where Carl losses an eye, the girl murders Carol.

Glenn's use of fire was a bit dubious. So the zombies are attracted to the flames and walk toward it. Does this mean the whole apocalypse could have been averted if someone had made a few bonfires & just let the zombies take care of themselves? Maybe it's just an instinctual thing where the walkers view fire as a predator & keep their full attention on it while maintaining a short distance. I was surprised that worked.

Yes, the second half of this episode has gotten much more interesting, the Woodbury and Prison gang feud was boring me to death.

The one thing that bothers me in TWD is why the people don't just adopt a nomadic lifestyle, why settle down, that way they can easily avoid troubles, avoid being a big target to other groups that would inevitably lead to bloodshed, they can't get overrun...
Tens of thousands of years ago all people lived a nomadic life, back then it wasn't slow zombies but animals like giant cats that had teeth longer than your forearms and wooly rhinos that could run you over like a fright train. And it still worked.
If I were stuck in a TWD scenario I'd sure as hell try to stay mobile and be a hunter and scavenger.

I don't know about being nomadic, the irony in all this is that even as a bunch of dead corpses, Walkers are more united than any human group and even in that state they're not really.

In essence, man's worst enemy is man, like usual. They could've used the prison for themselves, all lived in the same place with food, shelter and security but instead they chose to kill each other and destroy any hope they had in that place.

Z Nation had a doozy last week. Totally didn't see that coming. :P

I dunno. With WD I could do without that Hipster cannibal A-hole. He's no Governor. That's for sure. Rick should've gone back.
