Honestly, Merle had reason to be a racist. He's most likely been in prison all of his life. Several of my cousins and uncles have served long sentences in a penitentiary, and, yes, in order to survive, you have to stick to your race. After a while, I bet it becomes second nature.
OK, I really enjoyed Merle as a character but don't excuse his racism with an awful excuse like that. His racism is why he's racist.
Daryl started the show with the same attitude, but I doubt he spent his time in prison all of his life.

The only spark of interest I had in any of these characters was Milton. I kind of liked the little twit. He and Herschel nerding out over science stuff was cute.
The Governor is a boring antagonist. Is he going to be around more? Bleh. They just draw these things out 6X longer than they need to be. Stuff has to move, like they do for Falling Skies, which is much better both as character and action drama.

I guess the bright side is that with a fully stocked Prison that Rick and company will seemingly try to make more liveable, then the show could actually try to emulate the Prison arc from the comic now. But they could have done that right from the onset this season and didn't. Just a waste of potential, IMO.

Yeah, the second half of this season was pretty damn bad. It just feels like the show is completely spinning its wheels and without any sense of direction.

To me the writing is not only thin, but just makes no sense. They should hire someone whose sole job is to sit in the writers' room and say "That's stupid." everytime a dumb idea/dialogue is proposed. He/she would get overtime pay.

I'm very glad Andrea is finally dead, though. I really hated her character. "I was just trying to save everyone." "Hurry up you dumb ****, I'm dying!" "Oh, right." Good riddance.

Terrible second-half of this season with a terrible season finale. They hyped the hell out of the big battle that was supposed to happen that never happened. They assault the prison only to run away at the first sign of resistance. What the ****?
Well in all fairness, its not like the Gubnah's army of two dozen people were armed to the teeth and storming the gates looking to wage war....oh, wait....

They really need to hire some new writers or something becasue the current crew just isn't up to snuff. Season 3 has been nothing but filler and the finale was a dud. I hope they're able to recover from this in Season 4.stonbw1 wrote...

They killed off all the great characters in Season 2. They fired all the good writers and directors of the previous seasons. It's no surprise that the quality of the show is starting to slip.NeonFlux117 wrote...
The first part of season 3 was good, the second half just dragged a bit. The show is running it's course. It's getting fairly boring to me now. The show is still a decent filler but it's nowhere near the quality of Homeland or Game of Thrones. But it's decent for cable.

yep, I agree. I knew it would be a problamatic when the creator guy, the dude that did shawshank, left the show. The writing just doesn't have the snap to it anymore.

Yeah, that whole sequence was pretty bad. Her talking to Milton as he lay there with a knife in his stomach wouldn't have been so bad if she had friggin' multitasked getting those damn pliers while doing it. But instead she's just sitting in that chair as if nothing's wrong at all while talking to Milton.
For someone that wants to save people, she did a horrible job of trying to save Milton. If I were Andrea, I would've worked my ass off trying to get those ****ing things and then gone to Milton once I freed myself to apply some sort of medical attention to him.
One would think that everyone would have a rudimentary idea of how to treat non-Walker based wounds thanks to the local doctor. Hell, Milton might even know a few things about that given that he's been doing studies on Walkers which would necessitate some sort of anatomical understanding.
Still hate that AMC killed her and Milton off. I liked her desire to save everyone, but AMC really did her entire arc poorly.
One can't help but wonder what would've happened if the Walking Dead episodes were 1.5-2 hours long instead of 1 hour. Or if they had at least 20 episodes per season instead of 16. Or both.

Off the top of my head, Scott Gimple is the only writer worth keeping. He wrote Clear and This Sorrowful Life, both great episodes (even if I feel Merle's death was ill-placed, the writing was still great).
EDIT: Actually, I think all of the writers save for Mazzara are worth keeping. Scott Gimple is definitely the best one of all of them, if you ask me. Unless Kirkman's writing the episode. Then it's bound to be good.

One of the things that really pissed me off was how they didn't try and clear out the Walkers in the field after the Governor's little battle and they had Michonne. Michonne could easily take them all out, and it'd be easier still with the rest of the group attracting some of the Walkers' attention to the fences and taking them out there.
I can understand their hesitance about using their guns since they don't have a way to keep more from coming in, but there's no excuse for their laziness about quietly killing them.
Then they could've worked on blocking the entrance with vehicles. Their vehicles or vehicles attained from elsewhere. Be really great if they could push that bus back on its proper side.
And what's worse, when it actually seemed like they were going to prepare for the assault by making the field hard for the Governor to maneuver in, they throw out only one thing of wood with some barbed wire as a trap. ONE.
Yeah, that one little thing is going to stop the Governor because he's going to send all of his men through it. Christ... the group doesn't even fortify the prison enough. Oh they talk about it, but they don't actually do it. If Morgan was there, well, the Prison would be a Fortress.
As for the whole crops idea, did they have any seeds? I know Hershel brought up the idea, but did they have any seeds to use, either from their own personal stores or the food obtained from the prisoners?
Granted, nothing's stopping them from heading out to Hershel's old farm and gathering a few of the crops, provided they're still there and all (depending on the weather, travelers, and everything). From which they could take out seeds and place them in the ground. I know that at least some crops will regrow even if there's no one to attend to them.

God yes, Falling Skies is a great show. I can't wait for the next season just to see how the survivors interact with the new alien race that's bound to be their allies, given the AA cannon that the Overlords constructed and was summarily destroyed by the resistance.
Though anytime Will Patton speaks, I hear General Bethlehem instead of his character.

All she wanted was peace. She was for the people and was willing to do
anything and everything possible even if it meant sacrificing herself to
preserve humanity and keep the people alive.
I pretty much agree with her, that it would have been better to explore the comic character and her relationship with Michonne (who is intended to be liked) more, and to play up her attachment to characters like the Governor (who was always intended to be hated) a lot less. This Woodbury/Prison conflict is important, however, it was made too much of, and with Andrea playing too central a role with her up-to-now ineffectiveness. I wish Holden the best of luck, and hope that she gets better writers in the future.
This does give me some concern, though, for the show's gender balance. We're pretty much out of interesting female characters, except Michonne, unless they either create somebody new or really build up somebody we already know. I'm personally hoping they'll recognize that some of the characters omitted from the show had value in the comic, and bring in Alice:

Or maybe Miranda Morales? She'd have a story to tell by now, I guess. A story where she performs acts of energetic heroism and survives things that other people did/would not.

However, I think they kind of shot themselves in the foot in a way they may not have recognized, with the CDC storyline. The next place the story went was probably where they got that, and it'd be hard to use those characters now they way they were in the comic.

But I would like to see the government trying to re-establish normal lives. Zombies are too weak to prevent society from reforming, we saw that in Woodberry in this series. I would also like to see new zombie types. There should be some really heavy levels of decomp, to the point where they are too weak to break the skin when they bite.
I want something really nasty like a "buzzer", a zombie so covered in flies and maggots that you can barely make out its Human form. A monster of sound, with all those flies.

First of all the controls could've been A LOT BETTER. You move the curser to a person, but it doesn't register anything and you have to move it around until you find an exact certain spot, sometimes not even on the person. Yeah... that's not impressive, I'm hoping season 2 will be a lot better.
Also the whole drama and choices thing, well it's ok. Bit too much and the guy keeps tripping for crying out loud, blame it on the leg I guess. Any way, hoping season 2 will be better.
Edit: Another thing that pissed me off majorly is that you can't skip conversation when you have to do things again, which I had to since I thought the game would save when I quit, but it didn't. Another annoying feature to say the least. *points to lack of save*
So... I'm not impressed, hoping season 2 will get better like I said before.

Solved the problem, noob mistake in not recognising the speech bubble. Any way I just completed season 1.. and well... I guess I'm gonna be that guy and say I don't see what's so special about it.

To be honest, I thought the Telltale Walking Dead Game was better than the show. Maybe it's because of the engaging story, the alive and vivid characters, the heartjerking emotional scenes, the great pacing, the frightening plot twists, ect. One thing I appreciate the most is that the game knows when to let go of plotlines, unlike the TV show. And I have to admit that even though she is a child, Clementine is a near-perfect example at how you make children useful and important during serious moments. Heck, she and her involvement probably made the game.

Finished season 2 or episode 2 or whatever. The controls are still horrible, in the end to save myself time I turned on "Detect selectables". Are they gonna fix the controls?
Did you buy the physical copy of the game or the digital version? The physical copies are the ones that have a ton of issues on them and I don't think you can get a patch disk for them. However, the digital download version has been fixed with patches and I haven't had any problems with the controls for this version.
