I just tried to buy Dragon Age 2 DLC and it's not even available for purchase anywhere on the Origin store!

I pre-ordered DA2 on Steam and have been considering buying Legacy DLC or Mark of the Assassin, since last year; however, despite waiting, they have never become available on Steam.

I contacted the Origin tech support and was told I should use my Steam product key to download the game via Origin, and then I could click "shop for add-ons."

I did so; however, even after downloading DA2 again, I still cannot buy any of the DLC on Origin. There is no "shop for add ons" button for DA2.

I contacted Origin tech support again and was told I needed to go to social.bioware.com to purchase DLC for this game. I didn't see any convenient store front to puchase the DLC, but was instructed to select the "Games" drop down menu, then DA2, then Official DLC.

Then I learned that you can't simply buy the DLC directly using your credit card. Instead, you must buy 1600 Bioware points and if you buy something you will end up with leftover points.

The entire experience was very frustrating and left me with no further interest in attempting to buy this DLC. If you make it available on Origin in the future to buy directly using a credit card, I might consider it, but I have no interest in purchasing any "Bioware points." The Origin tech support rep recommended buying the DLC at Wal-mart, but I don't have any optical disc drive in my laptop, so I can only buy digital downloads.

It's difficult to understand the reasoning behind why EA has made it so complicated for PC users to buy the DA2 DLC.  Perhaps the process is more simple for people who own the Xbox or PS3 versions.

In comparison, buying DLC on Steam is a completely hassle-free experience. It's very easy to find any DLC you are looking for, click once to add to cart and then check out. And the prices are in dollars, not "points."

That sucks. They need to simply get rid of their imaginary BioWare points currency or whatever and cut down on the number of hoops you need to jump through to download DLC. Either make it so you can do it straight through the menus in the game or download directly through Origin.

Steam handles buying DLC pretty easily with everything visible and available to buy like any other game. Origin isn't terrible but its definitely not as polished and easy to use as Steam.

Wow that sucks. Much easier buying DLC on consoles, imo. You still have to buy points or whatever, but it's very easy to add them and then just go to the add-ons section.

DA2 was pre-Origin, which I think accounts for the wonky/non-stellar integration. ME3 DLC was a breeze, I imagine DA3's will be as well.

I agree on the "Bioware Points" nonsense. I've never understood it. My first thought too was that it's some kind of a scam to make you buy more points than you need so you end up buying more stuff that you really want to, which would be shady as hell, but actually that never happens. Or hasn't to me at any rate. They actually sell them in varying amounts that usually correspond to exactly what they are charging for their various DLCs. So it makes even less sense.

On the PS3 you can just use money instead of a crappy point system. Why do PC users even have "Bioware points" ? It's not like there is someone saying use our points or no deal like with Microsoft.

I don't buy things online, so I don't have any ME DLC (outside of CE/Cnetwork) or any DA ][ DLC. It'd be nice if there was a way to buy offline, like I can with Steam.

Such a shame, I'd love to play them.

Maybe even put them on sale some time?

What I really don't understand is why do 1600 points cost more than twice as much as 800 points?

I don't know if they do this for the PC version, but often times you can buy a DLC code from someplace like gamestop and just redeem the code on the console (my brother did that recently with the From Ashes DLC from ME3).

Or, you can buy the points themselves physically and redeem them to your account, so you can still 'buy' DLC without having to put your CC/Debit card on file.

I'll have to take a look at that. I'm on PC, though. I buy money for Steam through Gamestop, but I'll have to see if that's available for ME or DA for PC...

Ugh, this sounds dreadful.

And while they're at it, they need an "update the game" button on the launcher. Neverwinter Nights was SO nice about that. It was SO easy to use and update. Now we're going backwards to LESS functionality than we had TEN YEARS AGO. WTF PEOPLE.

It's like hotdogs and hotdog rolls coming in different amounts.

Website > Create Website account > Buy Game X > Credit card information > Confirm > Direct download link
                                                           > Buy DLC for Game X > List of all DLC > Credi card information > Confirm > Direct download link

That's how it should look like

This is one of those rare times I'm glad I have a PS3. Bought Legacy and MotA the day they dropped. No 'points' to buy or other crap like that to deal with. Just dollars and cents, electronically of course. One of the very few things PSN got right.

Yeah, just a simple Check For Updates button would be really helpful. Then it could tell us if it's a game update or a Origin update and give us the option to download or not.

Origin keeps trying to put the ME3 soundtrack on my computer and I don't want it. Why isn't there a Don't Download tickbox?

Finding the patch page took me a while the first time. Why don't they have a Check For Updates button? NWN had one, and it's over a decade old.

Yeah. The Bioware points system and Origin is a whole mess. The less there are of these stupid points systems and of these download managers the better -- Steam is more than enough. We have no need for the redundant Origin!!!

True, but if I sign in as me and my husband downloaded the DLC I have to sign him in as well to use the darned things.  That's dumb, to me.  If it's downloaded legally onto my console it shouldn't be profile-restricted.  :?
