From the map one interview showed, DA3 takes place across Orlais, the Free Marches and Ferelden. Also possibly Neverra.

That seems way to big for an open world, even Skyrim etc is restricted to one country at a time. DA3 "seems" to be at least 3. I doubt we'll have open world, just alot of Freedom to travel to cities and areas of interest across most of southern Thedas and parts of Central Thedas.

Of course they're looking at Skyrim. They're probably looking at Halo and Bioshock and Madden and XCOM and Assassin's Creed. Why? Innovation. You don't copy those games but if they do something awesome then wouldn't it make sense to try and find a way to incorporate that to your own game?

I really hope there isn't any American football or base-building strategy in DA3...

If they find something in those games that they can implement in DA3 that will make things better then I'd say go for it. I want the best damn game possible and if that means they find some kind of a character interaction thing from Madden that is totally awesome then find a way to Dragon Age it.

I am just worried that "open world" will turn into "pad game-play with a lot of horse riding between towns to the point where you probably would've taken that long in real time" (Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess). That is why I like the "teleportation."

well...a kind of guided-open-world would be awesome (at least more guided then Skyrim...i played that game for over 50 hours (way more then that) and still have not done more of the main-quest then, killing the dragon after meeting that arl that wants to send you to some mountain dwellers...grey-beards i think they are called!)

but:

i would rather settle for non open world, if there is more to explore and find (and maybe having chance encounters while traveling using the map (like in Fallout 1 and 2)) and very well made locations (deep-roads, kalsharok, minrathos etc.) and hubs!

greetings LAX
