Yeah, but then they'd have to mess around with water physics. Could get messy. Plus Orlais is fairly solidly inland--their coast is fringed by other countries that aren't necessarily all that friendly.
It won't hurt to ask. You never know. They said they can accomplish alot with the new engine. I think Crysis 2 uses the same engine Dragon Age 3 is going to use and the water effects are incredible.

"Water monsters" makes me think of Final Fantasy, and we have yet to see anything of the sort, whether it's hostile sealife or elemental enemies made of magic.

That said, there's the old "Kraken/Hydra/Other Sea Monstter trying to drag down the sailing ship" scenario.

first it doesn't have to be at sea there can be a lake an underground cave etc.
just because they are sea monsters noesnt mean they cant come on landthus eliminating the stupud fighting underwater
enemies: sea people, waterdragons( chinese specie), kraken as a boss or miniature sized insead of spiders, big snakes, open to sugestions from the dev team just make it good

When you refer to water monsters the first thing a person thinks of is monsters that are made of the element of water -- not creatures that live in water.
On topic, though. I would welcome some aquatic monster attacks on naval fast travel routes -- if there are any.

This is what I'm talking about. This could add much more to the game.

First I want beasts back at all. It kinda surprised me that Hawke never once ran into wolves or a bear. The beast enemy class was pretty much restricted to Mabari and Spiders.
yes, variety of beasts and monsters important for immersion of the environments and overall game feel.

No, are you crazy? Do you know what DMs can do to people who head into the water? Aquatic monsters can be terrifying; toss a sphere of annihilation in there and good riddance.
I like being caught off guard by a new monster or beast. The water element could be a great change to the game.

"They may be monsters, but they're sea monsters. What are they going to do? Flop around on deck and suffocate at us threateningly?"
