Was FBWGG farming really that big a problem?

I personally play on silver, and doing FBWGG helped a lot with me unlocking new characters and guns.
So, has camping ruined the game for everyone else that much? Or is Bioware listening to the loudest players, and not necessarily the majority?

Bioware's been coming down hard on people who farm gold with the new patch and DLC. Changing FBW, adding a flying drone that litterally ****s grenades ontop of you, and making Pyro's non-grabbable seems a little overkill to me.

And considering that every game I was finding on 360 was FBWGG, I'ld say yes.

I actually had a hard time finding FBWGG matches. Might just be timezones and all that, though.

Though I have always said that I think Silver/Bronze should give more credits, so the people that aren't ready for Gold/Plat or just have no interest in it don't need to farm the setups like FBW/G/G so they can actually unlock things in a timely manner.

Yes. Finding a non-farming Gold match has been radically easier this week.MissFish wrote...

Also, I'm pretty sure crouching in one room for 35 minutes with a decoy in the doorway wasn't exactly the design intent for Firebase White, so if it makes the blow sting a little less, think of it as Bioware adjusting the map closer to their original expectations.
EDIT: I'm not trying to sound harsh; it's just that for me, the changes to White and Glacier are an extraordinarily welcome breath of relief. I also agree with Cyonan: part of the reason for farming is that playing Bronze or Silver is far less efficient at generating credits than farming Gold or Platinum, and generating credits is a prerequisite for unlocking cool stuff. I'd be right behind a change that either increased the credits for Bronze and Silver or made it easier to unlock new stuff.

Killing a certain playstyle because it was rampant doesn't mean that the overkill in the recent patches were needed.

Good players would just farm silver since they would be getting more credits per hour since you can complete silver matches a lot faster with the same amount of effort.Just Cav wrote...
No, it wasn't a problem. Frankly, I don't think that anyone who actually worked on the game cared much at all either. I honestly suspect that farmers are being hit hard because some jerk who wears a suit and counts his stocks cried loud enough about how farming discourages players from spending actual money on reinforcement packs.

They're listening to the loudmouths. I do like the new FBW layout though as a map enhancement.
The problem is that without a single map to go to, now PUG games are riddled with campers/farmers that aren't that ready for other maps/enemies yet, and Gold PUGs have taken a huge nose dive as a result. Can't tell if you got someone worth their mettle or not. In the past the folks that weren't ready would to some extent gravitate to FBWGG, which kept the other matches to a better subset of players.

It would have been easier for everyone if they just implemented an actual "Unkown/Unknown" option in the match search.

I agree that the overkill wasn't needed.
I would have been fine if they only did one or two of the things they did. But all 3 was too much.
I wish my opinion of EA/Bioware was high enough so that didn't make perfect sense.Just Cav wrote...

Maybe add a hallway in FB:Glacier that connects the back corner where enemies spawn (and where it's easy to fall back to and get stuck) and the small doorway section on the left near where you start.
In FB:Giant, perhaps add a ramp up to the huge ledge where enemies spawn. Maybe those who like to snipe can head up there and enjoy sniping.
Similar to the ramp idea, maybe in FB:Ghost add ramps leading to houses sitting up higher. More sniping locations.
FB:Dagger could have a ladder in the center ring area leading up and down. Maybe make a hallway on top that leads to another ladder at the other end.
As for FB:Reactor.. I have no idea what to do. There's already a lot of areas and a hodgepodge of objects to hide behind. Maybe it needs a really open area. A ladder that goes to the top in the center of the reactor that leads out to the ledges where enemies spawn? Not sure.

As long as some of these maps get some revamp! They're getting stale. And they're pretty small. I absolutely love the changes to FB:White. Wish they would do it to the others.

The new FBW is much better, much more space to maneuver about the map. [snip]
This right here. I never much liked the original White, it felt very much like a one-way street. Most of the action was either at the pad or down below. In fact very rarely did the four-count objectives spawn up near the landing pad, you could have all four show up on the lower platforms.
Maybe with the extra hallway up top we'll see some action on the right-side of the map.

Over 30% of the games were Firebase White according to a random stats of interest image they made.

I played a lot of it on Platinum for credits. Then they fixed Banshees so I went back to gold. Then they fixed the map. Do I miss the old, much easier method? Well, yeah, of course I do. But I prefer the new map. Its not broken and is actually a lot more fun to play. Does make farming much more difficult now though.
The one good thing about the old FBW was that because it was so flawed, everyone could camp there. You could join a completely random PUG with all low levels and poorly specced characters with weak weapons... and you'd still have fairly good odds of success. It's because camping was just so effective on this map that it meant you didn't have to worry about what build or level or character someone was. It didn't really take any skill so you could be with a newbie who only knows about it from youtube and chances are you'll still be able to extract.
