I know many fans want newer fresh start characters, but there are just as many who want the return of the past characters at some compacity or another. I think DLC would remedy all of this debate.

I disagree with quite a few of those tbh.

No thank you. Honestly I'd prefer not to run into most of them. I loved them in the games they were in but I'm tired of hearing their stories now, I'd like new ones

The OP also forgot Sigrun. The coolest dwarf ever in an rpg.

This is why I said as DLC. If you don't want to be bothered with them don't download them. This will satisfy everyone.

I'm totally cool with the brief cameo from most of them and one or two returning companions like Sebastian or Oghren but I want new characters to love/hate.

Of the companions, the ones that I want to appear for more than just a cameo would be Sigrun, Velanna, and Sebastian. Sigrun is mainly because I love her, while there are still plots regarding Velanna and Sebastian that call out for a continuation. The others, while I'd love to see return, feel like they've reached a satisfactory conclusion for their characters and they don't NEED to return to finish up their story.

But the important part, I feel, is to make sure that they aren't appearing just for the sake of appearing. If this is taking place in Orleis, Leiliana makes sense - she's Orleisian and a Seeker/the Divine's left hand. Alistair could be justified - if he's king of Ferelden, he's making to protect his people. Flemeth goes where she damn well pleases and could be anywhere she wants. But, for example, if Zevran shows up for a rehash of his cameo appearance in DA2, it's gratuitious and doesn't need to happen (honestly, I kinda wish he hadn't appeared in DA2 at all if that was all they were doing with him).

They only need to return if there's more to tell of them, not just as a means of fanservice.  While I wouldn't mind seeing more of Varric, I'd prefer a whole new cast of companions.  Knowing Bioware, they'll probably bring back Varric, only to have his mind corrupted by another piece of the lyrium idol and he'll be the new "Anders".

If Flemeth and/or Morrigan appear, I'd like for their story to be expanded and not just make an appearance.

Morrigan: YES.
All others: Don't care.

New characters would be the option for me. The Warden should only return if he continues as the protagonist. I would be happy to see Varric and Cassandra again, but aside from that, all new characters.

I do not mind if they return in some role. I just do not want them to be companions. Since we are playing as a new character again, I want new companions to go with him. If they want to give us characters that have been in the other games but have not been companions yet, I would be ok with that.

I would love for Cassandra and Cullen to be companions so I could learn way more about them.

Morrigan and Flemeth are returning. It's just a question of how large a role they'll play. I'll be very surprised if Flemeth isn't a major player in a future DA game if not the third one.

A lot of the above choices couldn't die regardless of your choices, so we could see quite a few of them again.

Flemmeth, and probably Morrigan. As for the others, they seem pointless to bring back, except Alistair if you made him King or something..

Ugh, Flemeth looked pretty bad in DA2; it's like they went overboard with the whole "mysterious old witch" sterotype with her appearence. Hope they'll change that if she does appear later on.

And no, don't care, I want new characters so don't waste resources on DLC's for ones I've already met.

The only characters worth returning are Morrigan and Flemeth, simply because it seems they have a larger role to play in the myth arc.

All the others have mostly had their stories concluded. However, I wouldn't mind seeing Alistair again if he was king of Ferelden, and Lelianna wouldn't feel like too much of a stretch either since we'll be in Orlais. And it would be damn awesome if we saw Sten actually as Arishok like in the books, but if nothing is done with him, I'd rather they not involve him.

Brief camaeos are fine. The vast majority I would say are not important enough to require even that. They don't need to be party members.

90% of those characters are dead. From those you linked in Origins, only Oghren is alive for me. And from DA2 only Isabella, Varric and Sebastian.

Making a DLC about them, would be quite *limiting* i would say.

Oghren - Probably
Varric - Maybe . I will like to see him in DA3.
Morrigan - I hope so.
Leliana - Probably, she is a Seeker now.
Cassandra - Probably.
Alistair - It's the King of Ferelden. Of Course.
Sten - It's the new Arishok.
Shale - Difficult but possible.
Morrigan's son - I hope so.
Sebastian - Maybe
Isabela - Maybe
Flemeth - Of Course.

I rather have new party members to go with a new protagonist. Returning characters are fine as long as they are a cameo based character and there isn't a chance for them to be dead, for it really annoyed me with how dead characters returned to life in Dragon Age 2 and I really don't like the alternate characters that Mass Effect 3 tried.

Alistair already arrived in DA2, so no.

Oh and your picture lacks Loghain. So again, no.

You are talking about in a book. The Dragon Age series doesn't follow the book exactly how it is written. The game never said or confirmed Wynne was dead.

Dragon Age gave you choices to the outcome of certain things that can affect your party. So, to say 90% is dead is guessing or speculation.

So you think David Gaider wrote a whole book where a major character dies at the end....... jut so he can ignore it in the game? Yeah, I doubt that.

So in your opinion the warden and hawke shouldn't return?

Sigh.

And the only way I'd want to see Isabela return would be seeing her along with some Qunari, as she was converted into one when I gave her to Arishok (if the tale of her stealing the tome again is true, then I'm going to have to kill Arishok.

And for sure, I'd like to see my Warden meet up with Anders and Merrill (as mine was a dalish elf).
