So anyone that is more familiar with Dragon age litirature in general can maybe tell me how people are made tranquil? Was it described somewhere? How does that right happen?

So far from the games I know that people are made tranquil when their fade self dies.

How would templars be able to kill someones fade self?
Does this mean that a demon/spirit ( theoraticaly ) can make someone tranquil randomly? If slays the mage fade self and doesn't possess the body after that.
A mage dreamer can make other mages tranquil easily by going into their dreams and killing them?
Also mundanes can be made tranquil I take it? ( except the dwarves ) So all the above for them as well?
Can an abomination be made tranquil?

1. It's not yet clear.
2. Generally that'd lead to possession; it may be possible, but I doubt any demons would just let the body go.
3. They can also kill the mages for real, so I doubt most hostile dreamers would leave other mages alone even to the point of Tranquility.
4. No one seems to have found a point in making mundanes Tranquil, so this is unclear.
5. Becoming an abomination is actually a cure for Tranquility, so I don't believe so, no.

Lyrium. Apply directly to the forehead.

Tranquil isn't the mage dying in the Fade. Being made Tranquil severs a mage's natural connection to the Fade, making them unable to dream (or use magic). I don't recall if the specific methodology has ever been described.

But if you kill Fenryel he is made tranquil, but doesn't die.

Feynriel isn't exactly a normal mage. He's a Dreamer and can project himself into the fade without use of lyrium. His case may be an exception, not the rule.

Ok, so one more time. ( because I guess I wasn't paying attention to it, so I'll just take your word for it if you are sure )

Mages that die in the fade die all together?

Not entirely. Maybe. Well it really does involve lyrium and branding them on the forehead with the mark(using the lyrium), its mentioned a bit in the quest with Karl but is not made explicitly clear exactly how this is done or how it makes them Tranquil.

I had to clarify my first post because there's a distinction that must be made.

If you're merely dreaming, and die in the Fade: you're startled awake.
If you have physically projected yourself into the Fade, with use of arcane ritual and lyrium, and you die there: I think you're actually dead. Not 100% sure though

I'm not sure if this helps, but there is an old BSN thread here that delved into talking a bit about death and the Fade, particularly during the Lost in Dreams quest in Origins.  Maybe it will help?  This is a topic I'm quite curious about as well :)

Just too add a little too this debate. The book Dragon Age Asunder shows that mages can become untranquil, permenantly.

All right, now I'm confused about Tranquillity.

Since passing the Harrowing theoretically proves that a mage is capable enough to resist possession, Chantry law forbids making mages who pass their Harrowing Tranquil.
-- Harrowing - Dragon Age Wiki

While some mages are forced to undergo the Rite, some volunteer willingly. Mages don't generally elect to become Tranquil after their Harrowing, but it's not impossible.

So which one is right? Can you elect to be made Tranquil or not? =O

The first entry means it is illegal for the Templars to make a mage tranquil who has passed their harrowing. As in, against their will. An example being what Meredith does in DA2 - she breaks the law numerous times there.

The second entry is if a mage decides to become tranquil by choice. Although, seeing as both of the people so far who have been cured of tranquility have begged for death rather than return to a tranquil state, that doesn't seem to be a particularly smart idea.

Oh, thanks for clearing that up for me. So it's illegal for the Chantry to force tranquillity on them, but they may choose so for themselves ^^
