God I hate all these people who try to turn ME3 MP into the same random lore-free anything-goes MP BS that is every other game out there.

Go play your CoD/BF3 or whatever it is you kids play these days.

Yes

(As an Ultra Rare character, with a backstory that another facility was found like the one Javik was in, with Javik taking command, preferably as SP DLC.)

Yes, but only one person will get him.

Hmm, how about: a maximum of one Javik per MP game?

Otherwise: no, let's just discover a batch of Prothean popsicles and have fun.

Hey, why not? They've already thrown lore out the window at this point.

I used to defend lore in MP, then I took a Volus to the knee.

they might as well. i kinda felt lore went right out the window when they launched the Earth DLC (why does my commander Shepard NOT have a katana/shield/kick-ass battlesuit/homing grenades/way more badass biotic skills?) so it doesn't fit with lore, big whoop.

Frankly, this really shouldn't be the issue.  If Bioware chooses to include Protheans in the MP, they will justify it through the lore.  Lore is in their blood.  I mean, would it really be that outlandish to find a cache of Protheans with many survivors?  We, as shepard alone, have found two caches of prothean pops, netting one survivor.  One failed because of damage taken in the last hours before sealing, and Ilos failed due to the need to maintain the VI (I believe --it's been a while).

Lore is malleable.  Extreme positions on this point, on either side, strike me as largely untenable.  Bioware has shown it is willing to retcon lore to fit gameplay, particularly in the case of omni-gel and thermal clips.  However, Bioware always justifies this by modifying the existing lore.

Bioware would never blindly insert Protheans into MP without justifying it, and they wouldn't refrain from doing so simply because they are supposedly extinct.  We already got one member of an extinct species.

No, I still consider multiplayer to be canon, despite Volus being playable (is it really that hard to believe? I am sure at least some Volus would help to fight the Reapers during the events of Mass Effect 3)

Just as an aside, I think the people who **** about us lore-freaks and those who in response go on long tirades about how you absolutely can't have any breaks in lore should both read the OP. This was a straight-up poll: Do you want them in, yes or no? Your reasons notwithstanding. Reading some of the posts, it feels like Bioware's already got the prothean MP all ready to launch but they're sitting on it until the community decides whether they want it or not. In truth if they'd have it they'd release it regardless, and if they don't but chose to work on it, that'd be money and manpower away from something else.

I explicitly don't want the protheans, because lore. So what makes my opinion more valid? Nothing. It's just a question of sheer preference, so by all regards there shouldn't BE any debate on the matter. You can't convince someone to like something they don't, no such argument exists. So I'd respectfully ask both sides to acknowledge that if someone doesn't like the same things as you, they aren't automatically stupid, tasteless or a killjoy. They're just different, as people tend to be.

Yes.

We already got stupid Volus so why the hell not.

Also I want unicorn cyborg dinosaurs that shoot lasers out of their eyes and breath fire.

That doesn't break lore.

Protheans? A whole 1000 of them survived in "secret" lab on an "uncharted" world??
Clones? DNA manipulation?

SURE
Protheans, along with the rest of the historic races. About fudging 100 of them races. All in the same friggin place.

No.

It's not about lore. It's sense. It has non.

I really could care less about a fictional story in a video game, and in a multiplayer that already skirts the lore line in the first place.  I want anything that will add fun to my experience, and protheans will do that.

So yes.

Agreed.

Just say we found a bunch of stasis pods with unicorn cyborg dinosaurs that shoot lasers out of their eyes and breathe fire in them on the planet of Lolore.
