What is your prediction for the critical response of DA3?

Basically I think no matter how good the game is, they will give the game low scores because of the rediculously high scores DA2 got. (My favorite was PC Gamer UK saying it will be the best RPG of the decade). Has anyone noticed all the major sites going back on their praise for the game originally? That mixed with the ME3 mess spells bad news.
So I think the game will be good, the fans will love it, but reviewers will give bad scores anyway.

Ahh yes. Well then I predict it will suck because players can not romance a coat rack.

I've always preferred wardrobes. More robust, ya know?

This. But moar Gorillas.

the major gaming review sites are still in DA2 mode so they give the game low scores in fear of the backlash they got before.
I could see this happening for sure.

As for the fans...who knows? We'll have to wait until Inquisition actually drops to get some truthful reviews out there. For what it's worth, I think it'll destroy DA2 in terms of quantity and quality. But what I'm really dying to see is how it'll stack up against daddy. Will Inquistion match (or dare I say, surpass) the magic of Origins? Got all my fingers and toes crossed, and every day I try to kill a little piece of the cynic flailing inside me. Should have him completely dismembered by the time Inquistion drops, so I should be without bias then.

As long as the story stays consistent with DAO or DA2, I'm game. Even more so if the put the attributes back to the way they had them in Origins...or something very similar

As a romance option, I would prefer a giant talking squid, a broodmother voiced by Chuck Norris, and a sl*tty penguin. Coat racks just aren't how I roll.

Hmmmm. Given the way I have felt about Bioware's last two releases, I feel like this is the exact OPPOSITE of how DA2 and ME3 were received.
Game was bad, fans hated it, but reviewers gave them good scores anyway.
In all seriousness though, Bioware seems to be taking this dev cycle pretty seriously and they don't seem to be over-selling or over-promising ANYTHING at this point, keeping everything under wraps until they have concrete examples. This will keep expectations in line (well, REALISTIC expectations in line) so that fans won't have as high of a bar to meet to match what the developers say pre-release. So we'll see.

As for the fan reaction. I didn't expect Mass Effect 3 to go down as it did. But I really didn't expect the endings to be that out there. Combined with the ridiculous pre release quotes and being the 'end' of the trilogy.. it was a perfect storm.
Dragon Age 2 I kind of saw coming from a mile away. 5 year project does very well gets high scores and praise.. then they try to shift focus/style in a short dev cycle toss out a very likeable protagonist(since you can customize him/her to your pleasing basically). Fan backlash was expected regardless. Then the fact the product had quite a lot of flaws made it easy for the fans to pile on. As for the professional reviewers, I hardly remember Dragon Age 2 scoring as well as Origins outside of IGN.
I have a lot of hope for Dragon Age 3 personally. An upgrade in the engine scores big points from me and a longer dev cycle also will help the game greatly. But I can't say/judge anything more until we learn more.

^ Releasing a short demo beforehand would actually be quite a good idea, if I may say so. Wouldn't want to waste a nother big chunk of my monthly allowance on a game that dissapoints me in every way. :/
I'd say this is incredibly likely. Every Bioware game since 2008 has come out with a demo beforehand, I believe. I don't know why they would stop now.

Forgive me for attempting to illustrate how completely fatuous it is to attempt to "predict" the critical and fan reception of a game which, as far as this conversation is concerned, does not yet exist.Skelter192 wrote...
