Hi there-
Going to attempt to solo the game as a rogue.  My question pertains to the momentum talent and in particular when to activate it.  I was reading in the warrior solo thread that the basic strat with momentum is to blow your stamina wad first on abilities and then activate momentum similar to an Arcane Warrior blowing all their mana before activating passives.

Rogues struck me as (potentially) little different though since they need to maximise their backstabs so (I thought) that momentum should be on 100% of the time.  Especially once you get Coup de Grace paired with deathrooot.  Can anyone who's had experience soloing with rogues let me know which approach is better (momentum on all the time or activated only after stam is at zero)?

Thanks in advance,

I haven't tried soloing as a rogue, but I used to activate it as soon as I had dumped 50+ stamina....which was typically after a Dirty Fighting + Flurry opener. Then I just got lazy, and left it on all the time....but if I was soloing, I'd want to min/max a bit better so yeah, probably activate it after your initial stamina dump (DF + Flurry).

Backstabbing isn't always easy but you should never start a battle with Momentum activated.

Here's what I always do:
1) Dirty Fighting and/or Mark of Death (Assassin)
2) Punisher
3) Flurry or Riposte
4) Cripple or Dual-Weapon Sweep or Upset Balance (Duelist)
5) Activate Duelist and Momentum

Pinpoint Strike (Duelist) is also an excellent talent that turns all your hits into critical hits (so backstabbing is not required) for 20 sec (180sec cooldown).

Does that mean you grab coup de grace late or not at all?

I'd agree with bas273, but if you tend to be sloppy like me you can solo rogue with Momentum on all the time. Might not be optimal, might make some fight harder, but .. some people prefer being sloppy to being perfect ;)

edit: I found Upset Balance as excellent opener against bosses. Dunno why, but first I did not figure out the power of this talent, only after seeing it in action, and I was very happy with the way it worked.

Coup de Grace is passive ;) So yes I do pick it up.
