It is the easiest. You can finish it really fast. The others take a looooong time.

You also don't have to solo Platinum. I did one before the patch and that will be the only one I ever do if i've got anything to say about it.

I am curious to try with the Kroguard just for fun. You guys mention all the ammo, gear and etc bonuses but what's the best build for him?

Don't think I'd switch out my Biotic God banner but I wanna try anyway.

Am I the only one that doesn't give a **** about soloing?

The challenges gave me a reason to try. I had never attempted to solo Gold before, but I was looking over them and "Challenge Accepted" rang in my head. Not something I plan to do again, though. Might attempt to solo Plat sometime, but I want some URs maxed for that, methinks.

Ditto as to the first part.  Since then, whenever I get frustrated with PUGs I'll run a gold solo.  On the plus side, seeing a lone wolf banner is a guarantee of basic competency, way more so than N7 or even challenge score.

Glacier/Geth/Gold. Reegar and incendiary ammo work great, charging sets off a fire explosion. Shield gear and a cyclonic mod + barrier means you can survive any attacks long enough to charge and restore your barrier, thus never going down.

I soloed Bronze with the Krogan Sentinel on Ghost/Reapers, using the Locust almost exclusively. I just wanted to see if I could, and I can. I think it's time to take out the good weapons and move up to silver, hone up my spawn control and kiting skills, and try.

But I don't like soloing. It's a very stressing and lonely experience.

You don't need to solo platinum to get Lone Wolf. I want Bioware to make platinum solo obligatory. Now too many use easy mode battlemaster vs geth or infiltrator classes on gold.

Man **** that. The only reason we got platinum is because of mad complaints from the uber squad on the bsn about wanting **** harder. And why does it bother you if someone gets the banner by only soloing the original bronze silver and gold difficulties? Hell I give mad respect to anyone that gets the banner no matter what character they use or faction they fight.

Agreed.  Also, I hate that using characters that are powerful is considered "cheesy." Such a crap attitude. Give a little platinum star or highlight to the lone wolf banner for those that have done platinum, so we can see how special they are. But don't make platinum a requirement.

I like my lone wolf banner... I didn't solo plat because I honestly can't be bothered. I've done it once before, and I was over it after wave 4. Not going to do it again for the sake of someone else's e-peen...

Plat as a requirement? You're kidding...

Well, Solo Mastery is the easiest by far, almost everyone (who frequents this forum and is part of my friend list) can solo gold and platinum is not required.

Well, at least I got my banner soloing platinum 2 times.

That may be a more appropriate comment. Seriously, you actually think the majority of the playerbase can solo gold?

On topic... it's the banner that can be acquired the fastest, provided you can solo. As for platinum being a requirement, I don't support that, soloing gold is enough of an achievement. I wouldn't mind if the banner showed the difficulty at which you did it though, as well as the class you used.

RedJohn wrote...

And when the game hates you and gives you a Disable-Four-Objectives mission? To do alone without interruption four times in, what, 5 minutes?

If that happen to you run to the opposite site of the map until the enemy get near you, then run back to the disable device.

Most of Public games fail doing this objective because they do the FATAL mistake of stay all together next to they guy doing the disables instead of going to another side to call for enemy's attention.

Solo gold does not require a very big level of skill, but it require a little bit of knowledge of the game, situational awareness.

Ok, I had missed this post.

That's the thing... most people WON'T do that. I agree that soloing is more about knowledge and situational awareness rather than skill, but if the majority of the playerbase doesn't have that either, how is it that "almost anyone can do it"?

Soloing Gold isn't that difficult as long as you plan ahead, get a good class and weapon, and pack on the consumables.

I won't even pretend to think I can solo Platinum. I wouldn't know where to start.

Solo Mastery is legitimately the easiest challenge - 2 Gold Solos (Kroguard+Reegar+Glacier+Geth), 3 Silver Solos, and then 5 Bronze solos since a Gold is worth a Gold, Silver, and Bronze and a Silver is worth a Silver and Bronze.

how is it that "almost anyone can do it"?

They can, but they don't know it, most of the ones that can solo don't even try it because are afraid of it.

To me soloing is incredibly boring and tedious. On Platinum soloing is usually just running away from bosses half the time. Not much fun.

Well if you got by that attitude, everything IS possible, so yes, everyone can do it. Doesn't mean it would be easy for the vast majority, which is kind of the point the OP was trying to make, the whole "it's the easiest banner to get".

One day I will get my "I visited Jupiter" banner since that's possible too. :wizard:

Platinum is just for the challenge to know if I'm capable or not.
Of course, when I success I feel great but the thing is, Platinum is not for solo everyday because is too expensive.

In few words, soloing platinum is just for the ego....

This thread has inspired me to try soloing Geth/gold with my Kroguard. In the rage tree, do you spec for melee or health?

Somewhat true. But it`s still almost impossible to some players.
Easiest is definitely enemy faction kill score. You get it just for playing !

With new introduction of Geth bomber, you go full health except for level 5 evolution.

+1 Platinum is for mazochists. It's not a challenge of skill, it's a challenge of patience, luck and kiting. And your weapons DPS.

I guess I'm a masochist then

I do agree that the Platinum solo as well as Platinum in general is less about skill, and more about kiting bosses around the map, and killing more bosses with a powerful weapon.

I kind of disagree with this. Sure it's by far and away the least time consuming, but it's also probably the most difficult challenge there is, because it's pretty much the only one that can't be completed simply by throwing time at the game. In my opinion, time-consuming and difficult aren't the same thing.
So I guess I kind of agree with the sentiment of most of the posts, but not the wording.

By the way, finished my first gold solos this weekend. Very first was with ghost and harrier against reapers on giant. Banshees are completely terrifying when you know getting too close could cancel out the best part of an hour's work. Second was kroguard geth. Almost felt like cheating...

One thing I do have to say about the challenges is they definitely encouraged me to try new things, so congratulations to Bioware for that.

This could not be more true. Soloing Platinum........oh man the fun times!
I can't even imagine how long it would take with a low DPS class.

That aside, yes Solo mastery is the easiest, but mostly because you only need to play like 5 matches total.

What map would you say is the easiest to solo?

Maps with plenty of walls so not too many things shoot you at once. The new firebase white is the easiest imo. There are plenty of interior circuits where not much will be shooting at you and there are plenty of places to retreat to get down time. It's easier than galcier because if you get disable devices its actually pretty easy on that map.

It's just...boring. And frustrating. I can understand why RedJohn does it, but why anyone else? The point of playing co-op MP is to play with friends. I enjoy playing with friends. Soloing is the opposite of this.

So...play with your friends and don't worry about it?

*proudly waves lone wolf banner*

I pretty much do that.

Its the mastery that takes the least time, by no means is it easy.
