When I first installed retaliation everything was fine, a few sound errors here and there but everything was working well. I then noticed two days ago that when I'm about to finish a multiplayer match  black bars start appearing and then a disc read error pops out. I cleaned my disc out and played a few more games. Eventually it would start doing that everytime that it came to the point where I ended up deleting my game data and installing all the dlc except for retaliation. I noticed that the game runs fine without retaliation and i was able to play one match. I reinstalled later and I can't even get past the main menu screen since it keeps scanning for dlc then it ends up popping up another disc read error.

Before anyone asks:
-Yes my other games work fine on my ps3 so my disc drive works fine
-There are only minor scratches on the disc
-I have used the PS3 recovery mode

I have a problem very much like this one, although the details are completely different. As far a multiplayer is concerned I always get the disc read error when Firebase:Vancouver tries to load. I know it's Vancouver because I've tried to solo it repeatedly without success. More troubling are the problems in the single player component. I tries stating a new playthrough with a new character and encountered numerous problems: sound drops, textures not loading and the disc read error message during the concluding cinematic. The conditions of disc and system that PsychoHistory describes are mine as well except that my disc has no visible scratches

All I did was delete my ME3 profile settings on the save data utility and it started working properly again! Don't delete the saves that are related to the single player campaign only the profile settings. Hope this will work for you jasonD.

Unfortunately it started doing it again and I can't get pass the main menu without the game crashing. I'll see if I can figure it out.
