In Silver, I used to just Just slap on one of my Gear Bonuses and I'm ready, no need for Ammo Bonuses or anything. Now if I don't put Cyclonic Modulators IIs or IIIs, my survival rates are ******-poor unless I'm already playing as a high-shield and/or Tech Armor character. Gold requires so much more alertness, communication, and teamwork than it previously needed, and with random people, it's always a gamble of your time. Wasn't that bad before, as I regularly played Unknown|Unknown|Gold before Retaliation. I won't even touch Platinum. Note that I never took any breaks from the game, nothing more than a couple days, so I'm not just rusty or anything. Even Reapers give me trouble, and they haven't gotten any additional units. It's not lag either, because in several of the same matches where I get my ass kicked, I used a Kishock Harpoon Gun without any ballistic problems.

the game's difficulty has not been increased... what has happened is that the introduction of new elements has thrown into sharp contrast the inability of some people to quickly adapts to changing circumstances.

more or less, the game is no different, but now its obvious which player's abilities have been overestimated or artificially inflated.

Seems as thought enemies just do slightly more damage then they use too. Silver is a bit tougher when playing against Cerberus and the Geth when Dragoons and bombers rush to make you dodge out of cover into the open to get a filled with lead. Also, whenever you miss a melee with an enemy, all they have to do is melee stagger you, and get a few rounds into your face to put you down. On SILVER. Just seems less forgiving than it use to be I guess.
Gold is... still understandably difficult.

We have the typhoon. we have high velocity barrels. we have the indra.  we have the raider shotgun. we have a buffed wraith. we have a buffed black widow. we have NERFED shield gate.

the game is easier than it was at release. on release gold was nigh-impossible for a lot of people.

if people are wiping on gold? go back to silver. wipe on silver? go back to bronze.

I will only admit the game is unplayable in the unlikely event that veteran gold players start consistently wiping on bronze, which I very much doubt it will.

Well, when nearly all your posts on this topic consist of nothing but "Wahhh!!! Call the whambulance!!!!" it's kinda hard to interpret your posts as anything else. Perhaps you should try changing your tune if said interpretation bothers you.

yeah, that is true. I apologise for that. I tend to make those posts when I arrive in the office in the morning and I'm in a bad mood. I could say it in a more polite manner but my opinion remains unchanged, people who whine about how this game has gotten so difficult and is now 'unplayable' either need to up their own game and learn to adapt or go down to a lower difficulty level.

Everyone is trying to play exactly the same way they did before; I'm literally watching people do it in-game. "Whoa, that Dragoon wrecked me; that was weird." Then they go right back to doing the same exact thing. Remember when Reapers were "overpowered"? They never were, people just weren't used to fighting them. Now we get a few new enemies and people are raging that their same tactics don't work, even though we SPECIFICALLY ASKED for more variation. Don't blame the game when you get downed. Try actually looking out for those bombers and dragoons, they're both extremely squishy targets.

Really guys, what in the hell do you guys want?

A Scion's ranged attack (not the grenades) can damage you behind cover.  I was working an objective behind a piece of low cover and a scio on the other end, further away and at a lower position, was able to down me simply by hitting the piece of cover.  Probably the same type of issue Paladins had with being hurt while their shield was up.

Not to mention enemies seem perfectly able to shoot throught he tiniest holes in cover, and a Pyro most definitely doesn't give a damn about what you are hiding behind.  Rocket troopers also seem to damage you from the bottom of Jade while you are at the top.  This all did happen pre-patch though.

To make game easier, I decided not to play it.
I played a few silvers to buy around 6 packs. No new content unlocked. Deciding time is better spent elsewhere, I logged.

I think the Scion's attack hitting through low cover is the same as the Atlas situation. It is firing at you from a higher angle and therefore is actually shooting OVER the cover to hit the top part of your body. We can do the same thing on certain maps due to the layout. Pyros might have a bit of the same issue since I mainly noticed it while on FBWGG farming and they got really close to the cover, but they can do it from a much greater distance than players can, so chalk one up to Geth being broken as hell.

I see you resopnding to all of these difficulty topics, and the only input you have to say is that people have big egos is a higher difficulty is a great thing.

You seem to either willfully disregard, or just plum forget, that there ARE higher difficulties: GOLD AND PLATINUM.

People who are awesome at this game, and I know them, and I follow them on Youtube for tips and stuff, and I use their builds, and I appreciate all that they do because most of them don't come to forums simply to brag about how awesome they are, use these higher difficulties almost EXCLUSIVELY. And they're rewarded for it with credits up the wazoo, as they should. But even some of THEM indicate how the Collectors need tweaking.

What most people are saying when they complain about difficulty is their diffculty on the LOWER TIERS of DIFFICULTY: IE: BRONZE AND SILVER.

I have yet to read ONE person, even ONE person, complaining that the Collectors are too hard on Gold or Platinum. That's where HARD goes to SLEEP. That's where HARD has BREAKFAST. That's where HARD LIVES. 

So if you really don't understand this, or don't want to understand this, or can't understand this, then do everyone a favour and just go. Just.... go.

I've been playing this since the start. I don't have huge amounts of time to play, and I'm not typically very good at multiplayer, but I enjoy co-op and I think I've worked up from being a bad player to a slightly under-average player.

Despite gradually expanding my modest manifest, I've been finding the multiplayer getting harder and harder throughout. The latest DLC has been the most dramatic change though, where I've gone from winning 9/10 silver games and the occasional gold, to only extracting on about 2/10 silver games. I have not been able to extract from Geth for a long time, let alone the Collectors.

The thing is, I don't have time to play 2 hours worth of bronze games to afford a single PSP, to then probably get an extra colour set to put on my character. And I don't like that I've gone from being silver-competent to terrible, which is apparently entirely due to overnight skill atrophy. Yes, Whateverman7, call that ego-deflation if you like. Clearly I had to to be sent crashing back to earth with my delusions of being "ok at silver".

I will probably still dip in on the reward weekends so I don't fall too far behind if they do change the balance (or introduce a new 'wood' or 'mud' difficulty level).

The sad thing is, it LOOKS great. It looks like a ton of work was put into this. I love the idea of fighting the Collectors again. I love the hazards. I thought the update to the FBW map works really well, and there's a lot of weapons and powers that I'm really keen to earn and employ.

Just wish I could play it.

well when life presents you with a challenge do you roll over and give up or do you make lemonade out of it? sure, collectors are tough. sure, I've wiped in more than one game against them. but it appears at the moment alot of guys have to 'get better' or lower their difficulty before they think about returning to where they were before the DLC came out. that's the truth of the matter

This is, of course, assuming that people are able to unlock such items in the trollstore.

Haven't noticed the bugged gates on ourselves, I see. Which have a much greater effect on us than the gate nerf has on the enemies (surprise!).

And about the thread OP,
I'd say honestly the Collectors, and the Dragoons don't necessarily need a nerf, but a rework.

Reason why people are having a hard time with Collectors is because all their attacks syncs too well. The nades and laser constantly pushes you out of cover. And with no shield gates now the laser always insta-kills me.

Dragoons, well, they are just an abomination to the game. They are not hard, but silly.
And shouldn't stasis work on a humanoid? Armored or not.

dont get shot at so much then. then again it would affect you more if you are naturally eating more bullets
