While this may be a fun fact, it was far from a fun discovery. I was working in the toolset, when I noticed that all animation had stopped working. The creatures weren't doing their idle loops and the visual effects had essentially disapeared. After closing and opening areas hoping to find the cause I remembered earlier I was fooling around in the animation viewer. (I was hoping that one of the dragon's knockdown/death animations would look like a dragon lying down, but they all are horrible for a living dragon who is a little tired). I closed the viewer with the pause button hit, this caused all animation in the toolset to pause. The fix was easy the cause was rather obnoxious, just open the viewer load a new appearance and run an animation and unpause it.
FUN FACT: The animation viewer controls all animation throughout the toolset and will make you think your going crazy if you close it with the animation paused.

The animation viewer is in the plug-in list. I believe it is one of the standard plug-ins included with the toolset.

Found it, clicked it, haven't got a clue how it works so I'll ignore it.
Nice to know we've got one though.. Thank you.

You use it by loading a new appearance, which gives you a creature in the view window, and a list of all of its available animation. You select one or more of those animations, and press the play button to see them in action, and each will play in sequence if you selected more than one. You can also control the playback speed, or scrub manually through the animation with the slider bar.
