It simply leads to ego preening and elitism "oh he has a low challenge completion kick him" meanwhile "he" ended up carrying the team as a volus.

it causes people to go for the challenges in particular rather than passively pick them up as the person in question plays.

It's better than the N7 level, that's for sure.

I don't think anyone would see it this way.....it's just something extra for those who like stats and aiming for certain goals.

In a game where they're are levels, you are always going to have people like that.

Or, its giving people the option to experiment with reward...use new combinations. Nobody is being forced to use anything.

Is this really something that happened? Because its pretty idiotic given how soon the challenges have been released and that most people probably haven't had the time and opportunity yet to finish one.

it is a way to keep more people interested and playing. D2 did it so well that people still play that.
"ego preeners" are going to be ****s no matter what. they don't develop that character flaw simply because BioWare adds achievements to MP, they already had it.

I specifically went for Mathemagician and Machnist just because they represent me (sort of) as a Mass Effect Player. I've been a true blue, genuine, bonafide engineer since the moment I saw the character creation screen at the start of Mass Effect. Otherwise, I really don't care.

I love the challenge system! Personally, I have found it the kick in bum I needed to try different equipment, weapons and solo attempts. Finally having a banner on my nameplate felt like a huge reward!

I don't judge people on their loadouts/N7lvl/levels, so I sure as hell don't kick for a low challenge level. But that's just me.

lolwut?

I've never heard anyone in the lobbies I host or join say that. You show off your skills by performing on the field, not by how much crap you can dish out on someone. And no, not everyone has the time or interest to complete them, but that doesn't make them a bad player. Some people don't even know that you can get banners and titles.

And on the subject of challenges, I love them. They have given me a reason to use weapons and characters I have almost long forgotten. It made me try new builds and loadouts, which led me to love other characters as much as my favorites.

I love the challenges. It's a proven system to encourage people to continue playing, just like Xbox achievements and PS whatevers. It has allowed me to go back and use a tempest and an avenger when I normally would have avoided those guns. It is forcing me to play classes and races I forgot about. It encourages revisiting things we've taken for granted. I think it's put new life into the game for a lot of us and I look forward to completing my first challenge. I'm close to at least one I think, but my playtime is limited.

Also, I think it helps keep us focused on goals rather than credits for a bit! If anyone wants to do a run tomorrow between 1-3PST using some odd combinations of classes and weapons without worrying about score and without wasting consumables, send me a message! I'm currently running a Havok with a Sabre, and I'm finding that if I'm patient with aim I can decimate really well (before challenges I'd never bothered with a Sabre)

Cheers,
Gun

I have used combinations of weapons classes I haven't tried before and been surprised multiple times about how well something works that I would NEVER have tried without trying to get the 2 banners I have now.

example, before I HATED the striker AR but I used it on my Destroyer class with devastor mode on and holy crap was that a lawn mower! I still like my Harrier better, but it was definitely fun.

I'm looking forward to seeing how the weekly operations will work now that they are supposedly tied in with them. Other than that it doesn't mean a lot to me. In fact I feel somewhat self conscious when I'm the only one in the lobby displaying a banner.

What I like about it is that I've focused on some areas of gameplay to complete challenges that'd I would have ignored otherwise. Namely grenades and grabs at this point, but I'm sure there are a lot of weapons, powers, and classes that I'll find I like as I go for more challenges.

I absolutely love the new challenge system.

This game needed something to give it a sense of progression/goal to work toward. Once your manifest is maxed, there's nothing left....now there is. Alot of the banners look really cool too.

Challenge System = Good

Morons who kick someone because they haven't played yet = Morons
People who get upset over getting kicked by Morons = Crybabies aka "Butthurt"

It's fun. I like attempting challenges. I've yet to kick anyone for low challenge points. Haven't even seen it happen.

I earned my first banner yesterday (mathmagician) and when I put the banner on my nameplate I felt so proud!  All that time spent in game (usually solos in bronze) finally paid off and I had what I wanted.

The first time I queued for a silver lobby I noticed I had the only banner.  As proud as I was of myself, I felt kinda out of place and self concious about it.
