I wanted the Retaliation Mastery banner, so I had to spend 20 games using volus carrying Collecter Rifle/Sniper. I earned my banner and I don't feel bad for showing it off..:P

Why is it actually BAD, though? It isn't a distinctly good thing, in your mind, but how is it BAD?

Personally, I think it gives people a reason to play the game for longer, which I consider good. Sure, it's just epeen, but that holds interest a **** of a lot better than no sense of progression at all.

I've seen that happen with the N7 Rank too.

The challenge system is a better indication of skill.
However, players also must realize that it's also a better indication of the amount of free time.

Besides, it's quite exciting and fun :) Really gives me more incentive to keep coming back to the game :)

I want an Infiltrator banner with the Human Male Infiltrator or Geth Infiltrator on it. The only one I'm currently after is the Mathematician. The others are meh.

Certain types of players will find any excuse to kick. I would like to see more rewards/challenges for teamplay, though. I'm not sure how it would work or how the game would keep track of them, but there must be some way to reward players for playing well as a team.

Like giving scoreboard points to the Volus who keeps the rest of the team alive, or duos who are good at priming/detonating combos, etc.

Operation points. The points gained from deactivating, hacking, escorting, and delivering. Would be extremely easy. I'd suggest making a thread, actually. It would be easy to pursue.

You have a point.  You could give awards/points to people who successfully protect the deactivating person and or the delivery person, as well.

you don't need to do all the grabs, just enough melees. Although the grabs do count towards towards melee. Spec a Brogan and go ape in Silver :P

I'm 2% off from getting the Cyber Warrior one. Didn't even have to do much cos much cos my demolisher is lethal at bringing down Geth on any map - arc grenade to bring down shields and homing grenade to bring down armor. Even those annoying bombers are no match, can take down 2 of them with 2 'nades and my teammates are thankful for it

Unlocked it not too long ago.

Did the grabs on Giant Bronze Cerberus, I would get +40 each game so it didn't take too long.

Here is a tip thread for the challenge;

It's too much like Call of Duty, this game is supposed to be about teamwork which is why the N7 score was great you earned it even if you weren't always in first place on your team. Also, it's very unfair because you cannot possibly earn most of the challenges if you are not a hard-core gamer and/or are willing to spend $$$ on packs. Many of the challenges require you to use the ultra-rare weapons or characters. I've played something like 150 hours and still don't have a Vorcha character and lack probably about 1/3 of the rares and most of the ultra-rares. I like the new collector faction, but I'm starting to drift into being a "casual" gamer and just playing bronze and have fun instead of pursuing meaningless trophies.

I think Challenge is designed very well, so good players and consistant players gain the challenge score faster than others.

Must be an Xbox problem. Personally, I think it was a good idea because it encourages people to try harder and improve themselves. Also got me back into playing the game.

Not really.

You find people like this in any/all games. When I played on SWTOR and WoW both (not at the same time...I've not got that much free time to toss around), you'd inevitably get instances like this when doing pick up groups.

I've actually gotten nothing but love from both people joining my sessions and hosting sessions in regards to banners. The "Death Guard" banner gets lots of love, and I've had people start sticking around in my games despite the fact that I'm running Silvers on a rotation of London/Hazard Reactor/Vancouver for myself and a friend to finish our respective challenges (I'm doing Survivor, he's doing Defender) because they want to get the Death Guard banner after seeing it in play.

This is very important.
With N7, non-promoting players get nothing.
With challenge, every play counts toward some kind of challenge.

I have always played RPG as I really enjoy completing challanges, I think what Bio did was an excellent idea and very well done. I am using characters and weapons I never picked up and I am finding I actually like some of them.

Anyhow for me it's great and I am really enjoying it.

I put in some time this weekend and got the Cerberus banner. I wanted it cause it looks cool and it was furthest challenge I had made progress on. Lots of insecure people around here.

Ah yea I did bio/tech first while doing some of the other stuff. Have earth and a couple of other banners about half way done figured since I'm returning to do bloodpack I would finish the melee kills and some grabs doing a krogan challenge..

Cans do the nades ez have like 40 HS left till all 3 headshot ones are done, mis read the amount needed was thinking *dam grabs will take me forever playing with randoms*

It is inevitable. The cycle must continue.

Zeromarro4 wrote...
it causes people to go for the challenges in particular rather than passively pick them up as the person in question plays.

Well earning challenge points requires you to change it up quite often, and I don't see that as a bad thing for the longevity of this game.

I personally believe in personal development. I really don't care how fast or slow I obtain challenges, titles, or banners. As long as I have fun along the way, it's worth it.

I love the new challenge tracking.

If for nothing else, I'm now using different weapons and builds that I've never really used before, making the game more interesting.

Just as an example, Until the last couple days, I've always hated the Claymore. I've always preferred guns that were like the Piranha. But after many games of earning the weapon challenge for it, I have a new-found appreciation for the Claymore.
