Seriously people I haven't been on the ME3 forum for a month and I come back and it is still 40% ending threads

It sounds like Bioware still hasn't fixed the endings people are upset about. Oh, that's right, they haven't.

Up until last week, Chris Priestly said he was open to the idea of DLC changing the ending provided there was interest in it. Last week he closed the One Last Plea thread and insisted never. So yeah, with him not only absolutely denying ever changing it, he also locked a few threads where people congregated to discuss alternate solutions so now they're posting everywhere instead of in one place. It's like he thinks we'll just magically disappear if they say it like that. <Snorts>

Bioware has gone on the record as saying they wanted a controversy, that's why they created the endings. Are you really that surprised that they got controversy?

Here's the thing. Some people just wanted an extending ending, while others wanted a BRAND NEW ending.

People who wanted the later are still whining.

Why would they make one of the endings open ended if there is no canon ending and there done with Shepard?

Faith restored?

No offence but to me the EC seemed like they completely missed the point. Sure there were people asking for closure (which they provided, a tiny bit at least) but way more people than that were looking for an ending that made sense.

The EC added several scenes that made the entire thing look even more ridiculous (pickup scene for example). Instead of listening to fan feedback (which was to provide an ending that made sense), they painted us off as entitled whiners complaining that there was no closure and 'fixed' that part, poorly in my opinion.

They completely missed the point. If anything my faith in BioWare actually dropped further with the EC.

The great irony is I find a few people who think the EC made a difference, but far more who either liked the original ending and then liked the EC better, or who despised the initial ending, and for whom the EC ending did nothing to change that.

All in all, though I fall into the last category, even if you liked the EC, if you just thought it was an improvement over the original, I don't really see the EC being worth it. It was meant to change minds, right? For those who did not like the endings.

Not that I am surprised. Really, an explanation wasn't what most people unhappy with the endings were looking for. They (and I agree with them) thought the entire basis for the endings were nonsense garbage. BioWare could have saved themselves a lot of work and gotten the DLCs out sooner if they weren't going to fix the endings in the first place.

Unless I am wrong. But only BioWare would really know that and since there is no other way to verify it outside of them, it depends on if you take their word for it or not. Given the biase of any company looking at itself, I think it is an awful thing to do to take only their word for things, but people do. You know, like, "The Leviathan DLC was the best selling DLC to date." Really? And exactly how do you prove that, BioWare? Whatever. If you like what your smoking, why change?

Please, they said time and time agein that they are not using Shepard agein. Just becaise the play can imagine what Happen to Sheprd does not mean it will conflict with furture story lines. They will just not touch on Shepards fate if he lives after destroy. Sheprd's fate is open ended and BW WILL NEVER GIVE THE ANWSER TO IT.

They are still making dlc, which they said they would not do if leviathen did not sell, and everyone want omega.....So I'll take there word for it since you don't have proof other wise.

I agree with Balz to the wall. The original endings did leave sevral unanswered questions, but the extended cut did answer most of the questions and showed what the future held for the galaxy. Good job Bioware.

I agree about the EC, but surprisingly not excited for Omega. Just seems so...inconsequential.

Admitting leviathan didn't sell as well as they hoped (whether true or not) would by like admitting they made mistakes. BioWare insists on not admitting they messed up ME3 so they will never do that. And since DLC takes but a fraction of the time it takes to develop a full game and fetches a lot of money for the time invested, making dlc, even when it doesn't sell really well, is a sound business descision that will still yield a profit.

But they would not be making more dlc ifit did not sell well. If bw wanted to cover up the mistake, they would say it just sold well instead of saying it's the best selling dlc to date.

Look I like most people wasn;t thrilled at the original ending. I loved how the EC answer many questions. Yeah it was still a little open ended but I think BW is in a tough spot. There is no way they could do everyone's reunion scene justice (well I think you could but I understand where they are coming from). If you really really want anything like that... keep buying DLC... I know some will say it's greedy, blah blah blah. Realistically BW is a business... if the interest is there and the money is there... they may. Complaining and boycotting... yeah... nothing is going to happen... ever.

I don't expect them to admit Leviathan (or anything) did't sell well.  I just think you are a total idiot if you simply take their word for it.  And it is a stupid thing to argue with no proof outside the company, either for or against it.  Also, selling DLC, hey, if it makes you enough money,  like you said, why not do it?

The only people making an error are the people who really don't like what BioWare is doing, yet every time DLC comes out, they buy it.  And then get all mad at it all over again.  And then go buy the next DLC, and so on...It is called being a sucker.  If you don't like the product, and you keep buying it, really, there isn't a better term.

Like many of you I was dissatisfied with the original endings but after just finishing the extended cut my faith in Bioware is restored. I even started a second playthrough and can't wait for Omega to come. Thank you Bioware for your commitment to the fanbase and for the countless hours of enjoyment you have given me.

The EC worked for me as well.

I hated the original endings, but thought that the EC addressed most of my major complaints. I still wouldn't go so far as to say that the ending of Mass Effect 3 was amazing, but I did think that the EC managed to salvage the series. EC and the Leviathan also added some depth to the Star Brat. He went from the seemingly Q like entity of original endings, to a malfunctioning A.I. that was interpreting his mandate in a way that his creators could never have imagined. He basically went from Q to Clu, which is a change I approve of.

Not exactly. It was more like every bone in your body was broken, and some got band-aids while others were legitimately fixed. It was very important to me that my pelvis got fixed whereas my right arm did not matter so much. Since my pelvis got fixed, I feel a lot better.

The message they're trying to convey would be 'Look this dlc is the best selling DLC ever! Everyone loves us!'. Remember the ending was a huge controversy (still is if you ask me) and they definitely didn't come out of it unscathed, no matter what EA's PR machine would have us believe.

And like Kel Riever said, believing every word BioWare says after what they pulled, not very smart.

I for one no longer believe anything they say unless they give me some proof. So when they say the dlc is the best selling dlc ever, I take it with a huge grain of salt.

I think they came out of it unscathed. Consider that the ending controversy isn't affecting their bottom line at all. Leviathan was their best selling ME DLC to date. Other than getting the EC, Retake is looking fairly inconsequential.
