We need Protheans so I can finally 'feel' like Im unlocking an actually new character.
Also screw lore. The moment they introduced thermal clips, 'good' Cerberus characters, brought Shepard back from the dead, and had a lame alien race injecting human goo into a machine to somehow make it look human I stopped taking it seriously. Space god children were just cherries on top.

We have volus.
If that doesn't feel like a new character, Protheans wont.

However, The Protheans who were attempting the stasis projects had been exposed to reapers and reaper technology for a lifetime. This means that indoctrination was through the roof, Think about if, of a 50,000 stasis pod project, one prothean survived against all odds.

We have seen 2 attempts. In one of them a Prothean did survive despite a disaster near the initiation. That is a 50% success rate from what we have seen. Given the size of the Prothean empire there would have been other attempts.

There was one that had a prothean science lab which probably had a few hundred protheans.
There was one that housed 50000 soldiers. It had one survivor.

The sucess rate is less then 1%.

I was, obviously, counting the number of installations. If you're going on number of Protheans then you don't even need a success rate of 0.0000000000001% not to break lore. You only need 4 more survivors.

There is no gameplay argument... Aesthetics matter to people, so the whole "but it has no effect on the gameplay!" argument is irrelevant.

This. The Volus are another good example: the epic freakout over the past couple of weeks had nothing to do with their abilities (which are interesting and mostly new), but rather what character models were being used.

However, there is a backdoor to bringing gameplay back in: the Volus are also an example of the devs bringing lore to bear on a gameplay problem. They were interested in building specialized support characters, and the Volus are a prime example of a species with no front-line infantry; the lore justified the extension of the design space, and vice-versa.

So other than the fact that I'd get to play a Prothean, which would be awesome, bringing Protheans in would allow BW to poke into some new corners of ME3 design. Think Krogan, with more of an emphasis on technology and biotics and less on brute strength; Protheans would fit very nicely into the Sentinel slot, as well as giving us the perfect excuse for AR-wielding biotic Soldiers.

Also, their biotics would be green. And how can you argue with green biotics?

You are probably getting close to the actual sucess rate there.

Imagine the millions of these guys who tried to pull a Javik

In terms of multiplayer, Protheans would not serve a unique role given the current class & character distribution.

If you consider the campaign, Javik is a Soldier/Adept hybrid. He basically took the place of Wrex from ME1. ME2 never really had a true Soldier/Adept hybrid but Miranda & Samara are close (assault rifles & biotics). Grunt, out other Krogan, was more of a true soldier.

In other words, Javik was our ME3 Krogan. Even his attitude was pretty similar to that of a Krogan, too. ME3's multiplayer already has Krogans that are Adepts & Vanguards, so really Protheans wouldn't add much more to the table.

The Fury has it. The Asari Infiltraitor will have it.

Deep rich voices with warm accents. Am I the only one that likes Javik's voice?

They could run around calling people primatives, and look down on everyone!

Those giant heads are the second best for headbutting. <.<

It'll be hillarious!

Variety? Optical, and audio variety.

They could probably be potent biotics.

More prothean guns? Prothean SMG, and Sniper Rifle?

But I'm not particularly for protheans though, but I wouldn't oppose either. None the less, I took a stab at it.

they  also could make no females!!!! yes its a dream come true!

What if they:

Had a "training" exercise (similar to Assassin's Creed), where the person witnesses the Reaper+Prothean war.

That way, you could play as them...but only against the Reapers/Collectors...and it could only be Protheans.

Uggh, this isn't working. Haha

Easy solution to the "rareness" factor. Make only a Prothean Adept.

Every other race has 2+ classes/versions/kits, make Prothean only 1 single class/kit.

WRONG! Here's how Protheans can enhance the gameplay experience in a way only they can!

You see, there are a few things to consider:

First, the Asari are capable of skating around on biotic power, at the cost of some of their barriers. This was amazing and fast, until...

The Fury and Slayer are capable of literally teleporting through matter at the cost of their barriers. This is currently one of the more amazing evasive maneuvers out there, even if it's no good at actually evading anything.

What of the Prothean, though? Well see, when you perform a dodge, he fades away and appears in another dimension. In this other dimension, you can run around with no risk of being attacked or killed, and re-appear in any spot you choose.

Because Protheans can do that. It's how they defeated the Reapers 50K years ago.

So we can have four of the same class instead of four different protheans?

From ashes ruined is a very strong particular reason to not add it =)

That's what I'm saying all the time, it's just a skin, it's just a different butt to look at.. People just want it because there's people saying they cannot, so they feel the need to fight for it, but it's completely pointless...

Not to mention that adding it would make having them pointless in the first place.
