That's what I'm saying all the time, it's just a skin, it's just a different butt to look at.. People just want it because there's people saying they cannot, so they feel the need to fight for it, but it's completely pointless...

but people are only saying they can't have it because people were saying that they wanted it.

Some people care about the look of their character.

Then maybe I would stop seeing vibrant pink powerrangers in every game.  ^_^

With new biotics/combinations and perhaps a unique racial bonuses that we have not seen yet, such as the melee has x% chance to detonate a BE

Maybe there's some way to include their tactile ESP in gameplay. As far as it just being a reskin it must be said that BW has done a damn good job of making the various races play differently from each other.

The reality is that if they add Protheans at some point, which I'd say is about 50% likely, some people will complain loudly on the forums and won't play them, but most will give them a shot. It's not hard sci-fi, so there will always be a retcon or two to be had.

How would playing a Prothean enhance your gameplay experience? If the class was made to play differently, it wouldn't really matter because bioware could have made a litterally identical character, and this radically new gameplay style would be totally independent from the fact tat you are playing a Prothean.

Ultimately, the only reason why we would have a Prothean is the lore surronding them. There is nothing about this prospective class that makes it any more fun then the exact same class, but human/asari/salarian instead.
However, adding Protheans to the character list totally ruins the point of having Protheans as a characters in the first place:
The coolness, rareness, and mysteriousness of the Protheans. The Lore that is quite frankly, the only reason that playing a Prothean would be a novelty.

Clones: You arn't really playing a Prothean, you are playing a Salarian experiment/Cerberus experiment/Okeer experiment/Reaper experiment who is genetically a Prothean by chance.
A cache of warriors discovered on planet X: Do you really want a Razor gaming accessory exclusive character class?

However, I will revoke this if you can name one way a Prothean could truely enhance gameplay in a way that only a Prothean could (In ways other then simply being a Prothean, which from current lore is cool.)
I ain't talking about the way they talk.
Noooo. I mean something that is fun, that only a Prothean can do.

They can enhance game play by having green biotics herp a derp a derp!

As people have brought up before, how is this any different than asking for female Turians or Krogan in MP? While you can argue that a Prothean would be nothing more than a new skin, the same can be said of the majority of characters people want (with the except of the Hanar).

Just like the Turian Ghost is a tougher, more soldier-oriented version of an Infiltrator, a Prothean adept could be the most durable adept to date, with good skill at using weapons. They look unique, sound cool (at least Javik does), and give Bioware another easy way to open up gameplay options in MP.

Given that Bioware can easily retcon the lore to include more Protheans, it seems to me that people are more against the CHANGE to lore than the idea that Protheans aren't lore-friendly; it seems like people just want Javik to be the only one, which is fine. Given that they've already made the Volus ultra-rare, why not simply do the same for the Protheans? This will insure that they're more rare than the other races, which would represent their smaller numbers in the galaxy.

I really liked Javik's voice and accent, as well as the character's physical appearance. It's one of the most interesting designs in the series to me. I'm not desperate to play as a Prothean, but I would be pleased if they added a Prothean soldier with a similar voice and design.

Honestly, though, I'm just getting tired of reused character models for the aliens. Can we get some intraspecies diversity here? And I don't mean slapping on a helmet and hiding their face completely like all the humans.

FINALLY people who want Prothean characters in Multiplayer. I also noticed that no one has any good arguments to why they shouldn't be added.

I'm all for Prothean characters, even if it's just one or two. Heck, I want -- No, I NEED to be able to play as a Prothean.

Please BioWare. :(

It wouldn't bother me either way. I would actually like a more soldier oriented adept, and I would love slam to implemented into MP. I love seeing the badguys bounce like a rubber ball with appendages flailing about :-D

well, I came to love Voluses despite my original negativity towards putting them into MP.

but if a Prothean - God forbid - ever make it into MP I'm kicking every single one on sight.

Breaking the lore this much is just...well, too much

They pulled the Collectors out of their asses, making ME2 completely irrelevant save for a few companion quests. They might as well add Protheans and make From Ashes irrelevant.

Bioware has proved time and again they don't care that much about the lore anyhow, wayyyyy before MP was implemented.

Lore?
If i had to explain protheans on battlefield, i would say, that we've got Javiks full DNA. We could make dozens of his clones, but this would be not so smart as long, as the race will not survive. Single prothean is also dead end, but if Alliance use some resources, Protheans race could be saved. New Prothean Race is not only battle resource - this is also symbol of Reapers imperfection. So Salarians cooperating with exCerb Scientist*, using Okeers data* used to clone Javik, but using also Collectors* DNA to differentiate gene pool* and make prothean race able to reproduce and reborn. Also, there are Protheans Capsules*

*ExCerb Scientists are alliance resource, if you don't remember. They wan't to help Alliance, because cerberus path is wrong. In ME1 they were able to clone beings. You could met some of those creatures in side missions.

*Okeers Data - Okeer was master of cloning. He made perfect krogan soldier.

*Collectors are genetically modified protheans. Their gene pool is reduced, but scientists should be able to use their genes to mix it with Javiks and differentiate DNA.

*Gene pool - every being is holding also active and recessive genes, so from Javik scientists could make a few different living protheans.

*Prothean Capsules - This funny thing, were protheans were hiding. The only one that survived hibernation was Javik, but if capsules were sterile, scientists should be able to receive a lot of protheans DNA and once more, differentiate new prothean gene pool.

Also, maybe a bit more space magic?

it was mentioned that Prothean DNA was too complicated to clone.

the collectors are abominations made by the reapers.

Javik would not be happy with clones of his people.

why clone a race that FAILED!!

where are they gonna get the resources to clone en masse??  they gonna take some away from the crucible?

Why not from crucible? Nobody actually knows, if crucible will work and how. Crucible was builded, because there was no other alternative. Protheans are this kind of alternative.

Because adding Volus made so much more sense. Every Volus kit could go to a different race like a Salarian for example. They don't bring anything particularly new or exciting. Its not about that though, its about having different options for different tastes. I'm not pushing for Protheans exactly, I don't care either way. But volus make as much sense as protheans, hanar, or yahg.

Yeah, I've been waiting since I got the game day one. I figured at the least they'd release one and make it UR, and now, with the Volus already filling that UR slot, I figure the odds just got a lot better.

I really don't understand why people are so worried about Protheans in MP. Then again, people were ****ing about the Volus too, and they turned out fine.

Add Protheans? why not make the IT real!!

Shepard: I wish i had more prothean allies to fight at our side.
EDI: Shepard, we found some frozen protheans.
Shepard: We can revive them, clone their DNA, and they can all fight beside us.

and so they did.

Excellent story dude.

PASS...cuz i do not want!

edit: Cloning krogans for war...BAD
Cloning protheans for war...sure why not

no one was worried about the Volus! no one had ever thought about them being playable characters. the reaction at the announcement to them becoming playable...TYPICAL BSN OVERREACTION to the unknown.... The volus DO NOT come out of left field...as they are assests in single player.

protheans on the otherhand.....lemme know when Darth Sidious sercretly has a clone army made on some watery world.

Problem is, this can be said of literally every kit in the game.

Why did people want Volus? No one cared about playing support; they just wanted to be Volus. While I'm glad they worked out, the Volus kits could've worked with any race. So if we look at that example, what's the problem surrounding Protheans?

Because playing a Prothean would be fun and Bioware should drop any pretense of lore/canon and concentrate on what would make a fun video game. They shpuld do this despite the inevitable backlash from robotic nerds who write long posts on BSN showing a total inability to grasp the concept of fun being subjective. Besides, they added volus and did well with them too despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth so they have a good track record in making characters fit into their established lore anyway.
