I know its not possible at start, or at least that's the impression I get.

But, later on can Rogues open up the two handed talents?

**** exams, if they weren't happening I'd be investigating this myself.

At one point you it seemed you could, but a dev recently said that no... Rogues never get 2h or shield talents.   That doesn't mean that you can't use the weapons, but no talents for them.  Since Rogues get a lot of combat talents anyway, that might not be such a big deal.

A Bioware rep posted in the general discussion forum and stated that a rogue would be able to eventually wield two swords.

This was within a thread complaining about the 'dex-dagger' issue and/or bug. Apparently, due to how dex is used in calculating the damage done with a dagger, it is not a viable weapon choice for the mid to late game. This according to the Dev's as it is currently implemented in game.

Dual wielding dagger rogues, or those who planned on dual wielding daggers are not amused.

Check out the main discussion forum for a more info.

I'm sure modules created once the toolset come out may help address this. My own Arms and Armor mod aims to significantly increase dagger attack speed. So if it works as I'm planning the damage per attack may still not be all that great, but daggers will also be delivering more attacks to begin with, which may help offset this.

However keep in mind the limited effectiveness of daggers really isn't too far off the mark. These were always secondary and backup weapons to the sword, axe or spear in combat. You wouldn't take on a heavily-armored knight in full plate with just a pair of daggers (the dagger would have been used only once you had the heavily armored knight pinned to the ground).

To say nothing of fighting a dragon....

Note: there's an unofficial fix for the dagger issue from a dev, there's a thread on it on the other bioware forums. There will also likely be an official patch to fix this later, at which point you'd want to remove the override file. The patch that's out so far was an originally intended "Day Zero" patch, and they've not patched anything that's come up since yet. Georg said part of the reason they didn't catch it was that Rogues were still doing well enough dual-wielding daggers even with the bug that they didn't really notice it. (The bug actually makes daggers get 100% of their mod from STR as opposed to an intended 50%/50% split with STR/DEX).

I've been curious about the possibility of usin a 2H & just the rogue talents alone, & grabbin all or almost all of the rogue talents as a substitute for the non-available 2H skills. I wonder if it can still work like this? (Though on a different rogue from my main rogue, Elocyn.)

I've pondered on a 2H Maul male dwarf commoner rogue that goes high str & high cunning that escews the high level rogue dex skills in favor of a heavy armor penetration + heavy crit power anti-tank unit. (of the medieval times!) Image IPB Possibly back it up with Duelist & Assasin stat bonuses! Inspired by GhoXen's DA:J super 2H backstab build. Fun Fact: GhoXen's DA:J super 2H backstab build might possibly be the reason why rogues got nerfed & lost their access to 2H & 1H + Shield skill access! Image IPB It's considered seriously overpowered despite it's balancing factor of it's neglecting con, thus causing player squishiness.
