So for some reason, the box behind the dialogue box is no longer transparent, it's full black and rather distracting. It I thought it might have something to do with a mod I installed, but I disabled them all and it's still doing it. Any ideas what might be causing it?
example:
tinypic.com/r/2d921pk/6
Text background no longer transparent?

Most likely it's the mods... if any were mods installed as DAZIP files, there is no way to fully "disable" them, at least not when they're installed using the DaUpdater tool.

I don't think it's mods. I am getting the same thing and I don't use mods.
Topic creator do you use a Nvidia graphic card or AMD?
To get rid of mine I had to fiddle with the Nvidia Control panel settings for Dragon Age.
Edit: Are you sure?
I had those black boxes since launch.

Sorry for the late reply. I tried completely uninstalling all my mods and it's still doing it.
I believe my graphics card is ATI, but I don't know how to go about tweaking the settings.

Not possible. The only way to uninstall some mods completely is to fully uninstall, reboot, and then reinstall the game.
I don't know of any setting for a graphic card that would do this... it's a function handled by the game itself. So if adjusting the graphic settings within the game doesn't help, then I'd say the mods remain the most likely suspect. I suppose you could do an uninstall/reinstall of the display driver... there's a how-to link below in my sig.
