The firing "cooldown" has to pass before you can begin reloading, so reloading can never be faster than firing a second round.palker wrote...
Honestly it is Wraith that needs its rate of fire buffed not Claymore. The rof on wraith is so pitiful that shooting 1 shot and then reload cancelling is faster than shooting the 2 rounds it has in clip.
Claymore is unimpressive

You can't compare pure DPS against a Reegar or other guns because of the other advantages a Claymore has (range, osok etc).

What's next ? Krogan Vanguards are squishy ? Female Quarians are ugly ?
I'm hoping the devs buff everything good one week then bring them back to normal the next week just to troll us. It'd be fun.

Sure... buff it I guess.
If you want them to give it the Krysae treatment next week.
It 4 shots bosses? Really? What diffuculty do you play on?
It doesn't. On Gold it doesn't even one-shot mooks unless its a headshot.

I guess you can even 3 shot an Atlas now.

Remember that the really high DPS of other shotguns require a lot more ammo, meaning that they hit a lot less against armor. Also, burst DPS is ridiculous.
How is it unimpressive?

But sometimes you have to bust enemies, so reload time is not a problem, sometimes you have to stay cover from a huge unfriendly fire and you need a weapon that hit hard during the one second you can stay out of cover.
That's the real game, not stats, and when you're in these situations, Claymore IS impressive.

The Claymore does not need a buff.
I'll not have my precious shotgun befouled by the balance-hounding of BSN peasants.
In the primordial days of ME3MP, The Fagnan saw that the Claymore was beautiful, and blessed it with perfection of his own volition.
Since that fateful day, the Claymore has ruled from on high, the precipice of Perfect Balance its sovereign throne.

Did you completely miss the fact it does more damage per shot than ANY WEAPON IN THE GAME??!
Or are you just trolling?

Instructions for optimal use of Claymore:
1) Learn to reload cancel. -its still the Shotty king WITHOUT that...
2) Learn to actually hit things when you shoot. -A must for any shooter game.
3) Fire up Gold/Plat (it makes me sad about the enemies to kill them with it on Silver). -SIlver overkill is fun though!
4) Annihilate everything in your path with it. -Mmhmm!
5) Profit. Profit everywhere. -Money money money mooooneey!!
But sure... buff it. I'd like to one-shot kill Brutes with it, definitely.
Check bold.

Claymore is better than all those other weapons.
And also since long ago, I hate when people want to prove that something is better than other thing just for the DPS, when the heck will they learn that DPS in game means **** most of the times?

It is one of the best guns in the game. The problem with going by pure stats is that you dont take into account that the piranha loses effectiveness after about 5m without accuracy bonuses. Or that the reager requires the player to be in melee range. That is high risk high reward. The claymore on the other hand is still very accurate at mid-distance. It is a one-shot one kill weapon. Now that bosses have weakpoints that accuracy pays off. It doesnt need a buff.

That was 4 shots + 2 Proxi-mines on a Geth Infiltrator. And I'm willing to bet using high level ammo and/or consumables.

Without reload cancelling, only 15 out of 55 guns have a base DPS higher than 500 at lvl X. These are:
- The Harrier
- The Revenant
- The Mattock
- The Hurricane
- The Hornet
- The Talon
- The Raider
- The Piranha
- The Reegar
- The GPS
- The Crusader
- The Arc Pistol
- The Wraith
- The Eagle
- The Valiant
Everyone of my friends more and more defaults to the very small selection of Talon, Harrier, Piranha, Reegar or Wraith.
The way Bioware tries to balance all the other weapons just does not work, even if they don't want to admit it.

I'm a big advocate of making even trivial decisions (like builds in a video game) based on evidence, including quantitative data like DPS. But the point I was making upthread is that neither burst DPS nor sustained DPS paints a complete picture for any weapon.BlackbirdSR-71C wrote...

Any single measure that implies the Revenant, Harrier, Valiant, and Piranha are equivalent in any important way has some 'splaining to do.
Your friends are missing some key aspects of the metagame and/or have simply settled into a particular comfort zone.Everyone of my friends more and more defaults to the very small selection of Talon, Harrier, Piranha, Reegar or Wraith.

Eh.
If it's about range: You can always get closer. In fact, getting away from the enemy is a bigger problem.
If it's about "secondary features": I can only think of two guns that have those: The Falcon, which staggers reliably and applies ammo powers in a big radius. And the Acolyte, which is a shield stripper and Phantom killer.
Which makes 2 out of 40.
