This is a very odd issue.

As the title says, I cannot connect to certain players.  This means they can't join games I'm hosting, and I can't join games they're hosting.  When we try, we get stuck at a screen where it says "joining game..." and stays there indefinitely.

The strange part is some of my friends don't experience this problem at all.  I can join their lobbies, they can join mine.

I think this problem has to do with NAT types or something.  I'm not sure how to fix it though.  I've already got the correct ports forwarded, and I've scoured the internet looking for some setting that might be causing the issue, but I've found nothing.  Everything should be set up just fine.  Even when I disable both the router and Windows firewall, I'm unable to connect to certain people on my friends list.  One time a friend still couldn't connect after I enabled DMZ.

If anyone can help me with this problem, I'd be VERY grateful.  This issue is extremely frustrating.

I actually had this problem too, at my Dad's house, where the NAT settings on the router are closed (or strict, or whatever). I  tried everything you did, and it didn't work for me either.

I think you'll have to contact the provider of the router to get it sorted out.

I tried connecting to my brother's game and vice versa a few days ago. Neither of us were successful and we both got stuck in an eternal "Joining Game..." state. The only way to exit this is to alt+tab or three-finger salute and terminate the program.

It's worth noting that, when that happens, the "Connecting..." loader animation in the upper left corner disappears. It's my assumption that the game has given up trying at that point and it just hangs up.

Both of us are using hardline internet connections provided by the Board of Regents of the University System of Georgia. Speedtest.net gives me an A+. Both of us can successfully connect to random games and host our own games (very reliably, in the latter case, I should add). Our connections are not at fault.

Just a useful tip, when I get stuck in the joining game screen, you can try joining again through the friends list, then hitting cancel when prompted to choose a character.  It's a little faster than restarting the whole game.

open the routers advanced networking page and in the settings ther ewill be a box to disable NAT, do that unless you want to be sitting there playing wiht port settings or creating custom profiles for me3 (which can be very difficult) so that the router ignores all me3 related traffic for you specific pc, but if its onyl you useing the connection simply disabling NAT is fine so long as you have somethng more robust than the built in windoz firewall

I suppose that's true. Thanks for the tip.

I don't have the proper permissions to do that on this network. I also don't understand why that would be the solution. How is connecting to one specific player any different from connecting to another random player?

I've found that I can invite him to my game if and only if it's a Quick Match game where someone else is hosting. I still can't get him to join my own games, public or private. I also cannot join the games he hosts.
