Reminds me of a question, do you think it turns people off to hear a girl giving advice, especially since it's a video game? I mean, even if it does, I'm not going to stop - if I can get even just one player to be marginally less useless, it makes a game that much more fun. But they often ignore me until half the game has gone by and I solo most of wave 6 or what have you.

Like telling people to get out of the center on Rio. They ignore me until they all get flanked and killed. Is it because they needed to see that they sucked (by dying) or that they needed to see that the girl doesn't (by soloing)?

Most people ignore advice from ALL sources. I tried to explain to someone about wave budgets once when he was the last man standing, tried to explain that he should take out brutes and marauders and mostly leave the Banshee for last. He kept saying that I was wrong, that there was a set number of Banshees that would spawn and everything would keep respawning until they died. I think you can imagine how that turned out. I've tried telling people how horrible that central location in Rio is, explaining how to use some classes that I'm good with, telling people that SMG ULM was bugged, stuff like that, and people just sort of don't listen. Just saying, it isn't because you're a chick.

It is actually quite nice to hear that guys get ignored too. ...not to say that I think it's good that people ignore you too. You know what I mean.

not a bad idea but might be a little hard to implement. not everyone has mics or uses them. or they leave their mics on and have full phone conversations while playing...which is pretty humorous on occasion. the folks would also be willing for feedback...not everyone is unfortunately.

Don't tell me not to post cynical bull****.

Who decides who qualifies as skilled/veteran and who qualifies as a noob? How does either side broach the subject? Consider two possibilities:

"Hi, you seem to really suck at this game based on your posts. Want to play this weekend?"
or
"Hi, I really suck at this game and would like to learn more. Teach me, oh great wise one!"

Which is more likely to appear on BSN, based on what you've seen so far? This is just going to lead to more cries of elitism. That's already what happens when someone says "[X weapon or class] sucks!" and people try to offer advice on making [X weapon or class] effective. If that advice was paired with "Let me show you," people would be all the more whiny.

I don't have a better alternative, but I don't think this would promote peace as you expect it to.

It's all relative. I'm an outstanding player compared to someone who is just starting out. By the same token, I'm a talentless piece of crap compared to, say, Sihmm or Ashen Earth.

If someone wants my help, I'll gladly help in any way I can (as I'm currently doing with a friend looking to improve her game to gold levels). If someone wants to give me help on how to better play platinum, I'll gladly listen.

Just check your ego in at the door and I'm sure it'll be peachy.

Very good Idea, I can definitely help on Silver and Gold.Using mic really helps. For me bronze is kind of test bench, silver is little fun and Gold is where real game starts. Platinum is of the rare and ultra rare gears..

I'll compile a list of those who are willing to help those who seek assistance.

I need the info of whose who are able to OFFER help to others. To keep this thread from being too cluttered, please send me a PM of which system you play, your username/gamertag, and the maximum skill level you with which you are comfortable.

If you are seeking assistance, please contact anyone on the list I'm going to make and let them know the specifics/areas in which you'd like improvement/advice.

This would be good for new players who want to learn. Many are the kind who refuse to use gear or consumables during matches however. All you'll be doing is giving them a free carry.

Exactly why I think this sort of thing wouldn't work.

I'm up for it, though. Anyone want to teach me to U/U/P?

I think that this is meant to start some people off in gold... Those who always play gold should get some of the silver and bronze players on gold as well. So many people just try to sit through a gold to get to the end and get the money that it gets harder to play without friends. Also, I can vouch for his skill :)

Updated the OP with volunteers to help others. I'll try to update once a day.

Remember: if you provide info in the thread, it may get lost in the shuffle. If you'd like your name added to the list, the best way is to send me a PM with your info.

Great idea OP. I top silvers and occasionally top golds but regularly extract. But could definitely use some pointers in Gold and would like to jump up to platinum if possible. GT same as forum name. Platform PC.

The real problem isn't finding people on the Forums willing to help (I'd help BTW) but finding people on the forums that need help.
