"So, Hawke - you get to be a bystander to another person's storyline again and be totally ineffectual! Grats bro - it's like 'Your thing.' now."

Well they need to get over it. Its corny, and makes the world seem a bit small. Its especially lame when these NPC's start talking about some of their adventures or knowing the previous protagonist to a random stranger(your current PC).

Uh to those saying they won't because they would have to import Hawks face they would use default apperance.
That'd be lazy and would upset many people. I include myself in that. Either do it right or don't do it at all.
Hawke shouldn't be in there unless it's important.

Zevran: "Now if you excuse me my one true love is waiting on the shores of Antiva. S/he does get very angry with me when i am late. not that its a bad thing."
Inquisitor: "Okay you can just say you're leaving."
Alistair: "Time to go back to Ferelden, my ol ball and chain is waiting. But seriously she's an amazing woman."
Inquisitor: "Ok?"

Thats totally in Zevran's character. Not so much Alistair's but he did have Teagan to be all "Lets go, you know how women be cray yo!"

Hey if said cameo character gives me an item, some extra content via meeting him/her/it, and or help with a boss fight then I am all up for that. (Hey maybe even reveal a short cut of some sort) Zevran did help by join in the final boss fight if you helped him. There were also a few villian characters that by meeting them again gave items via killing them.ImperatorMortis wrote...

Considering DA3 is "meant" to be about the war that begins right at the end of DA2, I don't see how it would run parallel.AppealToReason wrote...
Is the game even going to take place after DA2? What if its another parallel thing. Like this one starts at like year 6 of DA2 or something.
Unless it picks up from Varrics interrogation.
While I do agree Anders was the spark that tiggered the war, the way Meredith was going, she would of triggered it in time regardless.. atleast with Anders going it causes support for the Templars.
Most people see Hawke as the bystander, but if wasn't or him/her, alot of events would never of happened. Meradith wouldn't of gone crazy for a start and Flemeth wouldnt of be been resurrected. A point which may prove more important in DA3.
Would be nice to stumble across Hawke fighting with either side against the other while playing as the Inquisitor, and seeing as he can't be killed off in DA2. Would be logical to assume that he will play a role with one of the factions as a leader and figure head.

A la Leliana in DA2. LI's heart belongs to Hawke, but has no clue where s/he is.LolaLei wrote...
His/her LI probably will, I doubt we'll directly see Hawke though.

Probably, we will have to see the Warden and Hawke once again. If I were writing this I wouldn't have generated something of such fun kitsch as the Wardens, but if I had I would have THE WARDEN be found dead in this third game. Also, his erstwhile companions would be backed into a corner by something like a thousand powerful darkspawn. Also, Hawke would be assassinated by the Antivan Crows, hired by the Divine herself.
But I'm not writing this game series. Hakwe will be met, no doubt with a compliment of old friends. So will the Grey Warden. As to when they'll be met, I don't know. I'm hoping the Grey Warden will die soon, die horribly, die finally and with irrevocable canon in the Deep Roads if he's not dead yet. I'm also hoping Hawke will catch rabies or something.

But I have a picture running through my head, that the next main character could meet a past LI. Perhaps after giving the person a hand, like helping a group of mages travel the roads safely. Maybe the Inquisitor could (if wanted too) flit with the LI and she/he could turn the Inquistor down. Saying that she/he has a loved one waiting at home and needs to get back to her/him... or something. And maybe the reason why your character isn't with his/her LI at the moment is...maybe she/he is in bed fighting off the flu?
I would be prefectly happy if my Hawke at least was mentioned in that way. My Warden oddly enough got friendzoned after Awakening. But I just imagined that my Warden got sick and tired of being Alistairs mistress and took Command of the Wardens full time.

They've decided to have each new DA game have a new protagonist.
They've also left Hawke's story somewhat... unresolved. Same with the Warden after Witch Hunt.
These two states of being are incompatible, in my opinion. I understand people's concerns that if they're not playable, we would see them acting out of character, but I seriously wish there was some short playable segment for both that provided closure. After that, I would be perfectly content with seeing neither former PC ever again.
