I expect a Tevinter Magistar will be one of our companions. It would be interesting to get their views on things and maybe they will even teach us a new Tevinter specialization

I think there is a leaked one (Dorian or something). He almost sounds like, by the description, an-Alistair or Awakening Anders type (which, imo, would be awesome). But I hope he's got something morally questionable about him, not like annoyingly squeaky-clean Wynne.

If he's from Tevinter and he's still breathing, he's likely done some questionable things just to keep himself afloat.  Also, snarky cute mage from Tevinter?  OH GOD YES PLEASE.

Personally, I would imagine him to be something like this: He should be an old man, wise, and an experienced mage. similar to Wynne. He is a former magister and sees joining the PC as an opportunity to leave the Imperium. He wants to leave because his political career has ended recently, he was forced to give up his position after receiving vehement criticism for being an advocate of reforming Tevinter society.

Although he wants to see the Imperium change, he still has some reactionist beliefs. While he will concede that some things were wrong with it and acknowledges the Imperium's weaknesses, he is a strong admirer of the old, powerful Tevinter Imperium. He would like to see the Imperium become a more powerful and influential sovereign. He is also a cvery cynical, of mages, of Templars, of the Chantry, it doesn't matter; his loyalty and respect are very difficult to earn.

As a Tevinter, he dislikes the Chantry and Andrastians, especially fanatics. Morality-wise, he should be neutral or something like a Renegon. He tries to be impartial and doesn't spout his beliefs anymore (he'll dislike anyone who does), but he will be ruthless and vindictive.

The bolded part is what I would go with, 100%. I don't care how old he/she is, or how "liberal" they may be, or what their politcal background is, I don't want a Tevinter Magister who hates Tevinter. I would even like a highly antagonistic relationship with the Qunari (maybe that Iron Bull Tal'Vashoth), I mean, they have been at war for forever.

I just don't want it to boil down to a mage version of Fenris (serious self hate) or Danarius (who, just....ick). 

Otherwise, I do like your idea a lot. I think a young-ish man would work too. Or a woman. Similar to Wynne in experience only, though.

Anders's opinions would be considered moderate in Tevinter. Though in action during The Last Straw were surely appreciated and applauded by the magisters.

That isn't fixed, it depends from a person's personality. Danarius seems quite calm in DA2.

I think that generally Tevinter's magisters don't have a spirit/demon inside them either. Ander wasn't that impulsive or brash in DAA. Justice contributed to change a bit his personality.
Plus, it's not like every young mage (and Anders isn't that young) is brash and impulsive.

It's one of my reasons for wanting an old, wise and experienced companion again, because Wynne died.

In my mind, no. But from the description of "brazen" and "not what you expected" kinda has me thinking they want Dorian = Anders in Awakening. 

I wouldn't think he has to be the same age per se (what is Anders, like, late twenties by the start of DA2?). Maybe 35-40ish. Enough to have some "youth" or for that personality to fit.

That's admirable. I just don't want some 20-year-old, oblivious hot shot. I'd be fine if he was around Duncan's age, too. The Magister doesn't necessarily have to be creaky.
