Are Bronze players looked down upon?

#1 I'm soloing for fun.
#2 I've played enough PUG Silver and Gold and have had enough of relying on completely useless people and would like to play somewhere where other people don't matter.

you people are really awful listeners. first off majority of people wont kick for a build, especially if you score over 100k in the previous game
second reading this thread the majority of you are wrong.
bsn does not look down on bronze players. go ahead and count how many do and how many dont. also count the number of people who said that they think the bsn does but they dont.
For your reading pleasure.
The point is that the thread I linked you is just one out of countless thousands with the same theme behind them. Elitism is still going very strong on BSN. Oh no doubt there are plenty of simpathetic people on here too but they rarely make threads about such things. On a more frequent basis however the mighty e-peens of BSN get demands from crappy places to post about their "godlyness" or other such non-sense.
I dont particularly have time, no the inclination, to search for a comprehensive list to give you. I just wanted you to open your eyes and be aware that the validity of what many have posted in this thread is there. In many cases lower difficulty players are hated upon. And quite a few that hate upon them end up on BSN to post about it.
Beyond that, the people who replied in that thread, myself included, are the regular few who end up posting replies in other threads of similar make sticking up for the little guys. It gets old after a while but I keep doing it.

for everyone that posts an elitist thread there are at least 8 others that reply bashing the elitism, so my point is saying that bsn looks down on bronze players is an incorrect statement, in fact i have evidence that sugggests that bsn as a comunity does not look down on bronze players. im sure there are plenty of elitist threads but what im saying is that there are more people that disagree with them than agree.VaultingFrog wrote...

As I said its alot of the same people posting over and over again in reply to those kinds of threads. Sure it may be 8 replys but if its the same 8 replying to each thread its not exactly sweeping ratio like you think.
But then again thats a battle of opinions in which neither of us will win. Points have been made, I say call it a day.

But if they only deem themselves Bronze capable, it seems a lot of people here would prefer it if they stayed there. Going by that logic, I should still be fighting one ATLAS per wave, instead of soloing Silver every now and then, and treating Gold as I did Bronze.
Of course, someone who has little self-confidence should steer away from Gold and Platinum to avoid horror stories, but a few baby-steps into Silver can work wonders.

If they start expressing opinions towards stuff being overpowered then of course.
I think they fall into the same catagorey as those who are generally disliked even if not bronze players though
its not the power its the player

I do have an issue with people calling for balance changes while only playing one mode of the game.

I can play Silver. I enjoy it actually, if I've got a good group of friends and I'm not lagging a ridiculous amount (which, since the last patch, the latter has become a problem). With randoms...I don't want to take the risk of lagging and disconnecting from the server. It's not fair on me or them (because they're down a person and lose all of my points towards the total).

I tend to only play Bronze for 2 reasons when I do:

I agree with this. I get tired of Rambos.

But you know what? I still play Bronze sometimes. If I promote and want to re-level, or want to solo for the practice with a character, or just friggin' feel like it, like when I don't know the map I'm going to play on yet.
Reasons people might stick to Bronze:
- Bad luck--i.e. disgust with bad experiences with lots of randoms who aren't team players and don't have the first clue about how to even be respectful
- Difficulty performing under pressure
- A stressful real life, which leads to less interest in stressful gaming
- A lack of kickass friends who can help them make the transition to higher difficulties (I tried Silver once I had a frequent gaming partner and we were both confident--I might've stayed there, if not for excellent players on my list who poked me continually to try Gold; after that I farmed FBWGG with randoms until I had the courage to venture into real Gold play.)
- Being a less experienced/more casual gamer in general, for whom the feeling of pwning everything is all the fun they need
- A lack of free time.
- Illness. (I had Lyme for months, and due to the sometimes excruciating joint pain I didn't play at all, but if I had, it would've been Bronze.)
For me, even if I were able to solo Platinum, I think the important thing is, you play!!! That's cool, period.
Most of the time, outside of BSN, people you talk to won't have a clue what Mass Effect even is. So maybe we should just respect our own community a little bit.

This happens in other games too, for what it's worth, particularly MMOs. New players get insulted, misled, scammed, patronized, laughed at, and treated as if they're stupid or as if they shouldn't even be playing ("you're terrible find another game"/"go back to WoW"/"scrub").
