This happens in other games too, for what it's worth, particularly MMOs. New players get insulted, misled, scammed, patronized, laughed at, and treated as if they're stupid or as if they shouldn't even be playing ("you're terrible find another game"/"go back to WoW"/"scrub").
The first part is also just contrary to common sense. The results are relevant to bronze and silver eg. should a starting gun like avenger 1 one shot kill everything on bronze?
The second part is just sad...
