Once again we come to the argument that IT IS JUST a video game, and in no way should it affect their life in such a manner. If it does, they need to stop playing. With your logic, playing video games at all isnt being the best you can be, because they were made for recreation, and are not truly productive in any sense other then your own enjoyment (excluding professional gamers). I mean, you could be out there curing cancer!

being in your comfort zone is never what you should ever strive for. for example if you are a poor public speaker dont just never speak in public, try different things and eventually get there. if an athlete exercises they dont stop when they get tired that would accomplish nothing, pushing your limits is the only way to ever expand your horizons ever. my whole life i was content to just play on the easiest difficulty and do it, but then i played diablo III and realized that the reason games get boring is because of a lack of challenge. after that i decided to watch youtube videos and be a better gamer in just about everything from starcraft to mass effect, to borderlands. it is so much more rewarding not knowing if you will succeed, and prevailing. challenge and difficulty is the 1 thing that drives the very greatest the most. scientific discoveries dont happen because people stay in their comfort zone. the most admirable thing is a person that wants to psh their limits, not one that is satisfied with "not oveeraching their capabilities" in fact that is not an admirable trait at all.

sorry, alhamel94, you seem to be confusing a video game with real life.

this arguement again huh and who is playing that game? a person in real life that is actively holding themselves back.

Isn't the very action of playing a video game holding them back from something more challenging? If so, why would someone with your philosophy be playing a game at all, much less visiting its forum?

Awkward moment...

Bronze lobby with a level 5, level 18, and level 12 all under N7 100 and level IV or less weapons, maybe a rare thrown in. Suddenly, a level 20 N7 400 shows up with UR X weapons, Level IV ammo, Level V gear, and immediately checks the ready green state. I have yet to see a PUG game not simply freeze in time for 5 minutes due to the other players going "OMG WTF do we just watch him play and that's it?"

show me a n7 hq that has n7 400 with UR X weapons, and level IV ammo, and level V gear.
take away promotions and my n7 is 477, this is my manifest http://social.biowar...94&platform=ps3 and remember that my only 2 incendieary IV and power amp IV came in victory packs.
i understand what you mean but your n7 number you picked is waaaaaay too low

Not really.  Very common to find N7 120 scores with maxed out manifest.  These are people who have played since day 1.  They just don't promote unless a weekend operation requires they do so, and even then, they groan about it.

did you actually look every piece of gear you get increased your n7. it is not possible to have a 120 n7 with a maxed manifest. even with 0 promotions.  did you actually look at my manifest? show me a maxed manifest n7 400. then i will believe you

I have an N7 of 120 and a maxed manifest. Now shut up.

@OP : Play whatever the hell you want. If you have fun on Bronze, play Bronze. If you like Silver, go for it. If you prefer Gold, why not? Who the hell cares anyway?

It all comes down to your attitude of what is important in life, doesn't it? To me, a person in her thirties, a video game (even though I've played this since April), doesn't mean much. I'm not going to bust my colons trying to solo Gold, because I know that will involve a LOT of practice, and a LOT of time. My time is not worth that. But when it comes to my relationships or work, then yes, they are worthwhile and important pursuits, and I invest emotional energy and effort.
Judging from your BSN handle, you must be <20. You'll see as you get older. You choose your battles. Not everything is about "testing" or "challenging" yourself.

There are many reasons (other than skill factor) why someone would play bronze over silver, gold or platinum.

- They don't have X level of everything so are limited in their firepower.
- They don't have the time to play 20-40 minute matches.
- They would rather play casually and have fun because earning credz and completing their manifest doesn't mean anything to them.

So anyone who looks down on someone for playing a lower difficulty than themselves. Really needs to go outside, smell the fresh air and realize that life is a much bigger and better game than any video game ever could be.

Unless it's the matrix.

Besides, Mass Effect is supposed to be about the single-player campaign. So shame on everyone who looks down on anyone in the MP portion, because it's clearly bringing out the worst in you.

Just to make sure we're talking about the same thing... N7 score is how many times you have leveled all your charaters combined.  It's still the same score even now with all these silly banners.  You don't have to promote to gain credits which in turn maxes out manifests.

No.

I do however frown on people who should be there but try silver/gold, fail, and then call for nerfs

I don't, but sadly some people do. And if any player wants to try a higher difficulty, I respect and encourage that. We move at our own pace, or stay within our own limits, that should be respected and not frowned upon. :D

The hypocrasy in this statement is too damn high!

Seriously, you yourself are assuming because someone is "lazy" in a game, means they are "lazy" in life.

You serious?

A  videogame is just that : a videogame. You play it to have fun, relax, whatever... But unless you make living out of it (becoming a pro gamer), being good or even very good at videogames is not really important.

HAHAHAHA! God damn, the only thing pathetic here is your line of thinking.

"Be the best gamer I can be." thats all well, and good but Gaming for most is for recreation, and enjoyment. Not an occupation.

And how is it a reflection on them? They would be the hardest worker ever, do super well at their jobs/schools. But they'd be pathetic just because they like kick back, and play on easy mode?

HAHAHAHA! Man thats too funny. And if you look down on them because of that you probably don't have much going for you in other areas.

Seeya!

There's so much wrong with this underlined part..

Also, If you want to really test yourself as a gamer. Go and actually play against other gamers lol. PvE isn't the way to strut around going "omG LoOk aT mE!1!1"

I was trying to be polite about it but you are exactly what I was refering to.  ;)

Now, let's not get hung up on semantics though, just in case someone points out promotional weapons.  Those are currently not possible to max out since we haven't had enough weekend operations for someone to do so, and that's counting the +4 allowance that Bioware afforded to people back when a glitch allowed people to gain multiple packs using a cheat (anyone above that had their equipment pulled back).

There's actually quite a few of these folks hanging around, amazingly enough.  That's why you sometimes here Reservoir Dog type jokes where instead of saying "I don't tip" we instead say "I don't promote".
