The balance is fine its meant to be a set of fun challenges to work towards but as usual the community complains about what we are given for free.

I often wonder why bioware bothers sometimes.

I think 'biotic god' and 'mathmegician' banners are the easiest banners. You can spam power(s) for a few silver games to unlock one silver star. Tech detonation is one bad example of a challenge since it doesn't care what kinds of explosion you detonate. There should be more specific, cryo/fire/tech explosion challenges. The harder, more specific banner like 'monster' or 'dog of war' are harder to acquire due to the nature of the game - it's not class-specific challenge. Every class has access to all weapons and melee move.

Well, you can always fire a weapon for a relative steady amount of damage. Sure it might take some matches but you would consistently make progress. Try that with Stasis and Pull for example. Takes ages as you can only do it solo and killing something with Pull takes forever.

The overall problem is that you're not actually doing damage with Powers in general. You're doing damage with BEs and have to deliberately go out of your way to complete the challenges at times.

You get points for the priming power when detonating.

Yes, you do (probably because it takes several seconds to explode which causes basic damage from the prime power) but it is far from what you get when killing the target with that power.

Weapon achievements are still pretty easy to get, though. Usually takes two matches on gold to complete, which isn't bad at all.

What you're saying sound right but the reality is most players seem to spend a lot more time shooting than using powers, especially as you move up the difficulties. The different targets are probably a reflection of that.

I don't know...Grenade challenge done wtih a Demolisher...seems achievable.

And melee with a Shadow, same thing.

I'll tell you this...regardless, the challenges were meant for people with no lives who play Mass Effect 3 all the time.

Seriously, let people go outside some.  Not everyone completes one weapon challenge in 2 Gold runs with the raised difficulty.

At least make some challenges fun and easy, then make some seriously difficult.  In that regard, thankfully the power challenges ARE easier.

I don't mind having some challenges harder than the rest, it will take time to get some of these that is good, IMO.

RedJohn posted last week that he was getting credit for Gold/Silver/Bronze solo extractions from playing failed Platinum games, or something like that.  He said he got credit for the lower difficulty ones after wiping on wave 4 or 5.  Don't know if it's platform specific; he's on PC.

Just a note, did the Shadow strike challenge the other day, and I don't think it counted for melee at the same time. You need to melee the regular way to get it.

I'm on PC as well.  It took four failed games of solo Platinum for me to beat it wave 5, 10, 8 and 3.  None of these failures gave progress towards Bronze, Silver or Gold.  If there was a bug it must have been hotpatched.

Power challenges take two one bronze. 

Problem is those freaking waves challenges. That takes 20 matches, no matter what the difficulty, so I find myself grinding bronze simply so that i'm not doing it until the end of time.
