Because it would be like Dredges of Cerberus.

Unless I missed something, nobody has said it yet.

*Cough*

Because Space Magic.

Nothing happened during those two years, other than what you're told.

Seriously, that'd be interesting. But to me, it'd be the same as making a sequel to Mass Effect 3;

Playing a game while there's a dead Shepard somewhere.

Yes, I like idea of inquel myself.

Just not hero from other races, I should use human and make him Corsair from Jacob's stories.

And danger of contradictories with original trilogy or books is much smaller that people are claiming. We know practically nothing about Palaven, Thessia or other planet from this era - a lot of free space for new story.

To be honest, why missing two years? A side story not concentrated on Shepard doesn't need him dead in order to work.
It's a huge galaxy, it just ME2/3 That scales it down so much to 1 tiny location per planet.

But to be honest I want a political/exploration sequel to me3's destroy ending, BUT

This idea looks cool too, as long as it's NOT Reaper focused.

Mass Effect needs to move on. These years have been dealt with.

Playing it from Harbinger's perspective would be neat.

Slaughter and capture all those humans.

But knowing the tropes and such, it'd probably be generic Alliance marine #421.

You know.

A spin off encompassing those 2 missing years with all of our loyal side characters would be a nice addition. I wouldn't mind playing it at all. Just sayin'.

Only if Liara is the main Character.

I would love to see a more sneaky spy type game in the ME universe, maybe with the main character being a cerberus spy infiltrating the alliance and other organizations to gain information about the collectors and reapers. Basically it could follow the story about -how- the illusive man got so much information about the reapers. U

Playing the 'bad guys' is always interesting. You could actually chooseif your character does the right or wrong things in a much more raw and less policed environment than being a alliance marine would allow you to be.

There already is one in the works, it's called Mass Effect Chronicles.

You must be kidding if you put fan-made 2D game on par with new full-lenght Bioware Mass Effect game.

No offence to creators of the Chronicles though, I played the demo and liked it, but I'm not sure if this is the right forum for fan-creations advertisements.

For me its still the thing surrounding the prequel that actions wont impact the future, be it a game centered around the first contact war or the two years between Shep dead and alive, it wont make an impact because the future has already been set out.

Again for me, I'd really like ME4 to be post breath scene in whatever capacity there is.

I'd rather not have a prequel of any kind but saying that I'm an ME fan so I'm sure I'd buy a prequel game.

Perhaps there could be a compromise of small DLC prequels such as the two year gap and so on made by smaller Bioware studios whilst the main ones are working on a new new ME4 game?

They shure can, but do you honestly want to get stuck in the same old storyline again?

Dreman9999, you have a cookie! I love this idea. May I add playing a Cosair, Spectre, or N7 operative to possible main characters list?

Brilliant suggestion!

edit: @Argolas I think the MEU can exist outside of Shepards world. Dont get me wrong... i love Shep. but, im ok with a story that doesnt affect the happenings of whats to come. could introduce new characters and species and cataclysmic new enemies.

Who said it's going to be the same story line?

You may even play the mercs that got Shep's body.

I like it, although it would be tough to have any conflict of notable size as it would have surely been mentioned in ME2-3 or at least the codices.

Of course, perhaps it was a super secret conflict!

It's a big galaxy, not every event that might make a good plot catches the notice of the public, let alone long enough for it to still be discussed in '85 when Shepard wakes up. Might make a good plot without it having a great effect on the galaxy.

Of course they can, the question is should they?

There does come a point, where if you insist on your super duper artistic ending wiping out Shepard forever and either burning the setting to the ground or resetting it, that you have to stop milking the Shep story to death.

It is time to take a leap, more forward past the ending, and stop dropping in mid game stories and new squadmates who will never matter, because the ending is already written in stone. I'd rather play a new character, than keep rehashing the ending over and over with nothing new but a line of dialog or two:

Starkid-I see you have met the Leviathans and learned our secret, now pick a color

Starkid-I see you have taken back Omega and have access to the relay leading to a graveyard of technology of 100's of cycles, now pick a color

Starkid-I see you have found out more information on the creation of the reapers, now pick a color

I'd rather play something new, moving forward, rather than the futile feeling of each midgame DLC having possibilities but knowing they are pointless, because the ending are set in stone, artistically carved stone.

edited: not the way I would put it, but I agree with Hexley UK. You can't decide you want to totally destroy Shep and change his character in the last 10 minutes of the game, then milk his popularity for a years worth of DLC. Either move on past the ending or change the ending. Don't ask me to keep playing mid game crap that leads up to this character I don't recognize anymore. The artistic ending was a ballsy move, now be ballsy and move past Shep and do something new.

ME needs to move forward. It needs to rebuild.
