What a wonderful argument you have proposed, so very... Screw it, I'll skip the sardonic crap. My point remains, that video is inconclusive, no matter how many times you say wrong. That aside, the rest of my post was simply me expressing how I've yet to experience any significantly unjustified gate absences, despite a play style revolving around heavy gate use. I'm not sure how that can be wrong, but hey, what do I know.

There's no doubt something is different with the health/shield gate since the patch. It is still there, most of the time working as intended, but sometimes your life's just drained without any obstacles heh.

I couldn't actually find any pattern in this, but this savior mechanism is not something you can count on any more.

Volus shield recharge doesnt reset gate CD, so you can get instant killed right after shield boost w/ full shields to dead :-(

Because the full vid is 20 minutes long. I could upload it if you like, but it won't be 60 FPS. And it will take me like 20 hours to upload.

I COULD (and might) upload the preceding 30 seconds just to prove that I had not been gated in the previous 4 seconds. But only if people keep calling me a liar or implying that I am one. I hope I do not have to resort to that. Uploading is a huge pain for me.


I feel your pain. Yesterday my upload speed went to 0.01 mbs for quite some time. And I should have around 100/20 connection<_<
I am not saying you are lying, but I can't say that BW is lying either. But something is clearly off with the gates. Sometimes they work, sometimes they don't. Maybe in BW's testing it just didn't show up.

....blasted youtube and their 30 FPS limit. I'm not sold on the idea of malfuctioning gating, but this has swayed me a little. Keep posting videos - they're much more convincing than hundreds of posts stating "I feel something's not right".

Playing drell and asari adepts is painful now. Any squishy charater dies a lot more than before. Even while using destroyer or krogan I drop dead while in the cover. Something is wrong with gates. All my friends experience same issues.

Quality post there. You're acting like a child because people are holding your evidence to scrutiny. You know, peer review? That thing that needs to happen before a claim can be validated?

I guess the other option, saying "you're wrong GTFO" is just as reasonable. I mentioned you sound like a toddler throwing a tantrum, right?

Thanks for the video! This has been happening to me *a lot* since the "big" patch a two weeks ago.

My experience has been a bit more dramatic than the video as there have been instances where 1 shot will blow both my shield & drop me like a rock (i.e. a Nemesis has done this to me several times). On my last couple of bars of health, I've learned that I cannot take a single shot.

Granted I play as some of the squishier classes (Fury & Asari), my assumption(s) has been: must have caught a lag bubble and I missed the shield/health gate happen; this is just part of the new mechanics and I have to adjust my playstyle.

You should post the entire video and then simply point out the areas you believe the gates are not working and allow everyone to see everything that is going on.

You have quite a skewed view of things. You invite people to share their thoughts but if they don't concur with what you think, they are automatically accusing you of lying? Yeah, right.

If you don't want people analyzing your findings to unravel the mystery because you have already made up your mind and don't accept anything else, then send such 'proof' as a mail to BioWare and don't clutter the discussion forums.

I think there was just a "ninja enemy buff" to how they're weapons work because they "weren't" working correctly before the patch/dlc. You still have health/shield gate. As said before multiple hits will always "look" like your shield doesn't work. The GPS situation makes sense. GPS shoots 3 rounds. You can actually be hit by 0~3 of them depending on how your moving. If 2 of them bring your down to your gates, they will activate, while the 3rd impacting will "look" like the gate isn't working at all. Same goes for burst fire enemies, multiple bullets are hitting you, your going down without the "look" of a gate.

Same goes for Brutes and Phantoms (which are now shooting faster btw, before patch/dlc seemed like they fired 0.75s, now its 0.5) which when they melee you, they hit you multiple times in a single melee.

I haven't played enough with the new patch/DLC to make some good argumentation on working/not working features, but i do in fact saw a few strange things...
Was playing Full Melee GI against Cerberus, Gold.
No Shield restoring character in the party.
Around half Shield left, a trooper busted around the corner, bam, dead.
No Health nor Shield gate.
Ok, Troopers use Hornet, so the 3 burst shot could have passed between the gates.
But exactly the same happened to me against a Engeneer : was on half shield, he turned on me and shooted once (single shot weapon) => Instantly dead.
No other ennemy in sight.
And even if, i didn't saw/heard the gates proc'
(there is a charasteric sound and effect on Shield Gate (pfiouuzzzz) and Health gate (screen blinking + Flashy red).

Happened a lot of time, makes my life a misery, as i heavly rely on the gates with this character.
But again, that's personnal observation, i have no tool to infirm/confirm the claim.

Ho, and by the way, to me Health and Shield gates are a design error.
If ennemies do so much damage that even a simple mook (like a trooper) can one shot you, then they are doing too much damage (average character has 1500 health+shield, and if there were no gates, almost all units could oneshot you from gold and beyond...).
And what's the point of Gates when half the ennemies have automatic weapons ?
But that's an other story...

No, all the damage should stop at the last bar of health.

The 3 shots hits together.

Its not that Healthgate/shield gate didn't work its thet you didn't SEE it work and that is LAG related. From what I have experienced the gates are not broken and are visible when you are hosting but there has been some significant change in how data is handled by the host and this at times seems to result in people appearing to be killed without things triggering.

The gates are triggering but the info about it is being communicated late and the game visuals don't correlate that properly. because of the delay.

Bioware is looking into the problems and while I agree its important to keep feed back like this coming in, after all the debate that occured in the thread (now unstickied I see) over the weekend, a more definite conclusion was reached that it is a lag issue that is related to the vanguard fix and how hosting games now handle player data.

If this is the case, then they should extend the time that the gates work.

I think Health and Shield gates are separate.
Example (pre-patch) : a few times i got nuked by a Prime fro far away.
1rst shot : Shield Gate; 2nd shot : Health Gate; 3rd shot : Dead.
I leaned to always be in cover against Geth since (and to press my dodge button like a mad man at the first hit, so i didn't took all 3 shots in the face for a long time...)

Tried my Melee GI build last night since the DLC and I can confirm that the issue shown in the video happens exactly as Lord Sirian said.

No matter what the healthgate should be, it wasn't like this before the DLC.
