I don't mind a harder Gold.  For a while, I started to contemplate platinum because Gold didn't feel as hard as it used to.

I'm sure over time I will adapt, but some of the crap is down right BS.  My main gripe is the stunlock/spam melee/rez death nonsense.  The enemy AI is now greifing you! LOL.

This is the feeling amognst some of the friends I've lost to other multiplayer games. Even as I improve and start having fun again in the current play environment, that same game play is chasing away others. It does feel at time like the game is greifing us. With so much grenade spam now it's a mess with some groups. Grenades falling in groups of 4 is bad enough. Them staggering you and ignoring gates is death. Watching PUGs fall all over eachother when a scion or bomber fired a cluster was entertaining the first few times. Not so much this far out.

What do they mean by spike in difficulty?

If you play gold and are at about my skill level, then you'd notice.  If you regularly play platinum and have uber maxed weapons, then you're probably not going to feel it.

It's kinda like flu season for people with compromised immune systems.  You're probably immune to some of this given your skill and evolution of weapons and gear.  Metaphorically speaking, I'm on the couch with Puffs, theraflu, tea, and a fleece blanket.

What I'm noticing is the the number of enemies seems to have increased.  I don't know if it's the spawning or the shear number, but more seem to come ...and faster.  Also, they seem to overrun hackzones faster and mob/melee stun you quicker.  That last one pisses me off the most.

I got you. its all relative. The spawn budget hasn't changed. Maybe the enemies just got more aggresive? Its hard to tell if they all die so quick :innocent:

Maybe the number of them didn't change, but maybe the frequency with which they're spawning?  They could space out the bosses a little better because the hack/pizza run objectives seem to be more of a grind than before...relatively speaking...

Very few of my friends play ME3, so I almost always play with randoms.

Before this new patch, and if the team was really, REALLY GOOD, gold was hard but possible. After the patch, I haven't made it past wave 5. It has become way, way too hard. The Geth especially.

I don't play below gold but from what I noticed is enemies might be a bit tougher but from my experience it seems it has a lot to do with the team your on. In on Xbox an the community is down by a lot. Takes awhile for people to join my lobby and when they do its usually people with really low N7's. So most of the time I'm solo'ing the later waves (which gets tiring). So yeah, things got a bit more challenging (which isn't a bad thing) but also the quality of players took a hit as well. I usually start off random games against Reapers/Gold to see how the team handles it and if they are holding their own then I bump to Collectors (I rarely do Platinum with randoms).

You probably wouldn't have noticed upinya, since I imagine you rarely play anything below gold.  Apparently, bronze/silver players have gotten the difficulty spike

ah, got it. Then they should fix it. Gold and platinum feel fine where thay are at to me.

Did you mind Gold before?

nope. And i probably have a 95% sucess rate on gold (if not higher) incluing random PUGs
I notice teh colectors being much harder then the other 3 but i don't notice a spike in the other 3 at all

The only spike in difficulty I'm seeing is a lot of newer players coming in with the last patch and stepping up to gold and platinum. I mainly play gold matches and all the ones I've done where people use even minimal equipment(rank 1-2) and mics have been smooth extractions.

Collectors aren't even that bad. Just don't let Praetorians hug you, don't stand out in the open vs. Scions(same as Ravagers) and don't let the Aboms get on top of you.

And THAT's the root of my frustration.  I don't mind the grenade clusters.  So far, I still tend to get downed more by running into a single grenade that happens to explode as I stumble upon it too late to roll.  Image IPB

It's the "let's all jump this sucka, Crips style" as I try to rez and get in the clear, only to be stunned by rapid fire melees and eventually killed that is insufferable.

Here we go again! Leave it upinya, you know you'll get flamed for this! With a co ordinated team, all factions fan be easily beaten, but pugs are a nightmare. I had a drell adept with a BW 2 join my lobby! And a fury with a crusader! I dont expect thse guys to have a good grasp over enemy units. Sure they will improve over time, but that doesnt help me now. Try carrying a pug team in a collector gold match in glacier as a vanilla human adept. Sure it is challenging and fun but I was out of all consumables finishing Wave 10.

on topic, the only issues I have is that my health bar drops very quickly if I get targeted by troopers, marauders etc.
I feel incredibly glassy when playing as the human adept in gold games. If a cannibal grabs me, I get stunned and he drops me in a second. I know its moronic toget grabbed by a cannibal but those buggers do get me occasionally.

I mean I am running out of medigel so often. Its frustrating at times.

Game was hard before for people coming out of Single player, even into bronze. Mobs just take SO much to kill compared to single player, the barrier of entry to MP is massive until you invest time and possibly cash into it to level up.

But yes, recently its been pretty clear to everyone, some things have happened and now its just... irritating.

IMHO STUN duration should be reduced, (knockback from missiles etc).
Putting a health drain on missile hits from Atlas, not good. People know how to avoid those and a big splash damage hit is punitive enough.
Health drains should not exist until we get Ops packs that actually restore our health and shields properly

I haven't noticed any difficulty spike; the new units introduced a wrinkle that requires adjustments against Cerb/Geth, but I assumed that was intended.

That's not me being elitist; I just honestly haven't noticed a problem I assume BW must have noticed an increased rate of mission failures though if they're acknowledging it as a problem.

I didn't notice it at first.  I played Dagger w/ Hazard.  Also, my first game tends to be me getting adjusted.

But with a clear view and different characters, it became apparent that there were a lot of boss characters; more than normal.

Some other things you may want to watch for:

1) The "mob" effect.  Hackzones get overrun faster now.
2) You get "jumped out/in" L.A. gang style by multiple enemies.  Used to be that upon rezzing, you could make a mad dash out of the beat down circle.  Now, you get stun locked and beat like Rodney King at an LAPD picnic.
3) The incredible accuracy of enemies.  I seem to get taken down by standard trooper units quicker now.

agree on all of these.

a)Mob effect is very noticeable on units who are now heavily based on "area of effect";  particularly collectors.
and now consider how GETH got the bombers and the Cerberus got the Dragoon.
both are extremely capable of blocking "nesting" on hackzones.
B) agree, you can do nothing now i f you get downed.. since you will get stun locked again and again.. or sync killed.
c) agree, Collectors Captains for example.. are  insane, even on silver.. they NEVER MISS even when dodging or using combat rolls and similar dodge mechanics..

gold was not the only who got skill upped..
Bronze as well. for players starting and who dont know the mechanits.. its deadly.. I've seen players dying A LOT in first round now.

The shield gate change is a big part of it.  That and the outright murder of FBWGG.  Oh and Dragoons and Bombers generally creating more disruption to camping strategies.  For truly skilled players the difference in difficulty isn't huge, but for those who were using camping and shield gating to just barely get by it's pretty huge.

EditL: Oh and there's the fact that nearly everything executes now.  That's a big issue for those who tend to get downed a lot.

Dragoons, noticed them when trying to disable the 4 objectives?  They spawn, beeline for the objective, while the enemies that usually are a bit more conservative line up their shots.
They act like husks.  The difference between them and husks are:
1. They shoot.  Accurately.
2. Stunlock, almost as effective as a grab and many times more frequent.
3. Armor.  Immune to stasis, throw, the like.
4. Speed, like a nemesis.  Faster than a husk, hard to hit as a nemesis when not stunlocking you.
5. Too much armor, takes too long to take down
6. When you do take it down, another one spawned a short distance away, and is en route.

They're a little cheap.

Anyone else noticed that enemies can see through cloak when the rest of the team is dead, or is that just a bug? I'm not talking about up close, I mean dragoons spotting me from across the map and then coming over and going all s&m on me. I never noticed this before the DLC. If this is inentional, I hope they nerf this.

Lol i know collectors are brutal. espaicially if you are running an adept or vangaurd.
PUGs are a nightmare but i'm used to it. Not only have I been playing with PUGs but also friends that are chasing challenges. That means in gold games i've had friends using predatoirs etc. One game on U/U/G I got glacier and ceberus. too bad i took my valient on such a small map. 1 friend was chasing the the eletric slash challenge making my screen shake eveyr second lol, one friend i don't remember what he was suing, and the 1 random had a horrible layout. I had to solo a few waves sadly but we made it thorugh so i can't complain.

Also if you fail you fial. its not the end of the world. If you never fail on gold then why play it? there has to be some sort of a chance of failure or its not fun to me

Its intentional. BW has stated such. basically if you solo ro are the last one elft cloack is useless pretty much except for the damage boost

The shieldgate is a wierd gltich that BW cna't pinpoint. its nto an intentional thing taht was added so i don't count it. BW can't even locate the issue. It sucks sometimes but its not part fo teh difficulty. you cna't nerf a game around a glitch.
FBW is a million times better of a map right now. I actuall enjoy playing it again. If you could only do gold with FBW and Geth then you shouldn't have been playing it in the first place.
Dragoons are a joke. they die easy and can be dodged. I wish i was recording yesterday when on gold my MQE tok on 3 dragoons in a small area and dind't get shot or smashed once lol.you dodge them like you would a brute. there hornet is mroe of a threat at rnage then anything else they do.
If you get downd alot the difficulty isn't for you ro maybe try a new kit?
if you had to camp to get by then the difficulty wasn't for you. I'm not talking down to anyone but if you play a difficulty taht you can't win on w/o using a cheap tactic only for teh rewards then you have no reaosn to play becuas eit s a grind and not fun then

When they first pull out the whips, yes they can be stunned.  But once they leap, my Ballistuc Blades couldn't stop them.

So you haven't noticed enemies spawning right next to you then? I've not seen this prior to the last patch. Now it happens almost every game. And I'm not talking about one or two enemies.. I'm talking about whole mobs of them.

I will test it tonight but I want to swear I have stopped them mid jump when they are whipping with a biotic explosion.  I know just throw won't stop them.

Dragoons will generally not shoot you in cloak, though they will fire at the position you were last at. They are however melee creatures and follow normal melee creature behavior which attempts to seek out cloaked players if they decide they want to try to whip you. This roughly breaks down to, a melee creature attempting to melee a cloaked player will always find them and hit them as long as they stand still. However as long as the cloaked player keeps moving the melee creatures will not be able to find them.

We haven't changed cloak behavior, there are other difficulty concerns but this isn't one of them.
