Instead of just saying the PC, let's give the new protagonist for DA: Inquisition a nickname. That way when we discuss the player character we can differentiate them from the warden, Hawke, Shepherd et al.

Since it's almost a certainty that some one in DAI will be an inquisitor and that person might very well be the PC, might I suggest we call the PC 'Quizzy'?

Quizzy has the advantages of being short (2 syllables) cute, not gender specific and distinctive.

Anyone else have any other ideas?

I'd rather not have any nicknames. I don't mind my LI calling my character something like "My love", but I don't care for any pet names beyond that. I think it's better to just be referred to by our title "Greetings, Warden/Champion/Inquisitor" (or even "My lord/lady, ser/madam").

We should be reffered to as PC.

Why don't we call them MC/PC until we find out what they'll be called in the game? And if we need to reference the Warden, or Hawke, or Shepard, we can call them the Warden, Hawke, or Shepard.

Too long, let's shorten it further just call the PC "Q" and let the Star Trek inferences fall where they may.

A very useful topic! We need a handy way to refer specifically to the next DA main protagonist, indeed!
I like 'Quizzy'. It's cute, short, and serves well it's purpose.
I'm just afraid that players who like to imagine their heroes as strong, even over-powered, characters may find that sounds too much like "sissy".
And since many posters have already taken the habit to call him/her "Teh Inquisitor" (a bit repellant, if you ask me) we could make a mix between 'Quizzy' and his/her title, so nobody's lost in the change :
'Quizzor'?

I was thinking "Inq" or "Inqy" (Inky) if you're waxing fond of him or her. And of course that's a hat tip to the ghost in Pac Man.

Or Quincy since that was a rather detective-ishy kind of person in a tv show long ago..... Although a somewhat different kind of investigator that seems fitting and can be used for both genders.

But our two-handers may complain it sounds too DnD Wizardly :P

I think Hawke as a name was pretty lame, but it did work in terms of being gender-neutral (I recall some people who played FemHawkes stating they weren't used to females being referred to by surnames, it didn't bother me), and not overly weird.

I think Inquistor would be a mouthful, and we don't know what we are (technically) yet. Might be "Seeker"

I think we best wait till Bioware gives a name.

If we are suggesting the name Bioware will give, I suggest Heywood Jabloemie.

Given the writer's habit of giving the option for going the political route in both DA:O and DA2... and that this is going to involve Orlais....

Napoleon?

Hound (as a synonym for "inquire"). Or, to swank it up a bit - "The Hound."

Also the Hound. Because that other word does not mean inquire. ^_^

Hounds are good sniffing dogs? I tought it was sleuths (like in the movie)?
Anyway... We need to find one only nickname which would not sound gender-limited (that which doesn't fulfill choices like 'Bob', 'Tor/Tory', if I'm not mistaken.)

Heywood Jabloemie is nice but to long for the purpose of a nick-name, and 'Napoleon' sounds too much italian to make a believable orlesian/ french name (which isn't probably required anyway...)

I like Quincey, but doesn't it sound a little too modern?
I like also Piecey. Very handy. I only fear that it will soon enough reduce to PC (what the OP wants to work-around.)
