Instead of just saying the PC, let's give the new protagonist for DA: Inquisition a nickname. That way when we discuss the player character we can differentiate them from the warden, Hawke, Shepherd et al.
Since it's almost a certainty that some one in DAI will be an inquisitor and that person might very well be the PC, might I suggest we call the PC 'Quizzy'?
Quizzy has the advantages of being short (2 syllables) cute, not gender specific and distinctive.
Anyone else have any other ideas?
A very useful topic! We need a handy way to refer specifically to the next DA main protagonist, indeed!
I like 'Quizzy'. It's cute, short, and serves well it's purpose.
I'm just afraid that players who like to imagine their heroes as strong, even over-powered, characters may find that sounds too much like "sissy".
And since many posters have already taken the habit to call him/her "Teh Inquisitor" (a bit repellant, if you ask me) we could make a mix between 'Quizzy' and his/her title, so nobody's lost in the change :
'Quizzor'?
But our two-handers may complain it sounds too DnD Wizardly
I think Hawke as a name was pretty lame, but it did work in terms of being gender-neutral (I recall some people who played FemHawkes stating they weren't used to females being referred to by surnames, it didn't bother me), and not overly weird.
I think Inquistor would be a mouthful, and we don't know what we are (technically) yet. Might be "Seeker"
'Seeker' would be an alternative to 'Inquisitor' (and a better one, IMHO) as a title, but not really a true nickname...
You are probably right about 'Quizzor'...
R.I.P. also any derivatives like Quizzav, Quizzare (too odd), Quizzard (Shepard, wizard), Quizzah/t (too feminine), Quizzak (Hawke)...
Quizzal, or, since everybody expect the Inquisitor's name sounds a bit spanish, 'Quizas', maybe?
'Inky' sounds ominous also...

Sexy
Dae (might get confused with Felicia Day though :/)
Leader (you will be the leader of the group afterall, though it's not very unique)
B.O.B.
Red/Blue/Gold/Silver
Ash (Ketchum)
I (as in the first letter of the word inquisitor/inquisition)
Ill (ill, but with the letter 'i' capitalised)
3I
I3
EA's b!tch
Q (it's not like there are many acronyms with 'Q' in them) (plus, it sort of references Men In Black, where they search for aliens)
Agent Q
The Adoring Fan
Icky
Orlie
Inquorlie (sounds like inquiry)
M'aiq (it's got 'i' and 'q' in it, and if we're gonna be an inquisitor, it'd be ironically nice to call them this, 'coz of M'aiq the Liar from TES)
Quisi n(part of the word 'inquisitor')
Quazar (it'd probably be better if this were ME4 but whatever, I'm not entirely serious)
Queie (sounds like queue and 'i' makes an "ee" sound)
I like the idea of Quizzy and even Quincy (the latter only a little)
Serious suggestions are highlighted.

No more Serah.
If 'Quizzy' goes viral in it's usage then the DA3 protagonist is destined to become a fan favorite right off the bat.

1. Use a title, like Revan, Cipher 9, Warden: Inquisitor, Raven: Quissy, Hey you, It, Whatever(not a title)
2. Family name, like Shepard, Hawke: Origins allready had set family names. Let's use those again.
3. Character name: When giving the character name, give the option to set phonetical signs. A system could then cut and paste the necessary sounds for dialogues.

I've always felt the "cut and paste" soundsets to be awkward. ALWAYS.
I think Hawke was a good compromise, but because I get how people might think the Inquisitor might be "bigger" than some FOB character that got caught up in bat-shiz insanity, I'd go with "both"
1. A personal title (i.e. Hawke) for friends, imformal meetings, whatnot. "Please, call me [protonickname]"
2. The formal title when meeting...erm...formally. "Commander, Seeker, Inquisitor" (whatever)
They do it with Cousland and Aeducan ("Lord/Lady Cousland/Aeducan" vs. "Warden").
I'd get why some other origins names wouldn't get the same treatment, since most people "back then" didn't have surnames (at least, like Americans or something) like that.

I want any and all NPCs to call my character "Babe". For reasons.
This would be mine.
Also fits with a nickname that is just "Inquisitor" (though, is that even a word? I feel like it would be Inquirer...)
Inquisitor is indeed a word. But my PC would probably prefer to be termed an Inquisitrix. It's both fun to say and fun to spell. And reminds me of rabbits and breakfast cereal. <3

Rabbits and breakfast cereal?

...Ooh, I think I found my Femquisitor's first name.

I mean, I don't exactly mind having to play a male named Geralt for Witcher, it is still a good game. I don't think it would take anyway too much from my immersion, but was wondering what others thought. I mean, I wouldn't have liked Marian (I'd actually prefer Hawke), but it wouldn't be game "killer" or make me less likely to buy it.

On a serious note, Ser Eldran Xenophilius York III, for short, we can call him S.E.X.Y.
'From this day forth, this citezen shall be known to all as "Arse Face"'

Each time you assign an attribute to a character, you're taking away one more chance for the player to personalize the character to themselves. There is a psychological difference in thinking about playing the story of The Champion, to the story of Hawke, to the story of Marian Hawke. Depending on how important it is to personalize a character for yourself, each subsequent difference could feel like a cheapening of the story even if the gameplay itself doesn't change.Palipride47 wrote...
Actually, has anyone thought about just having Bioware pick your first name?

But on the other hand, it gets rid of BioWare's need to get as creative as possible to refer to the main character by name without referring to them by name in a fully voiced game. Best go gender neutral and record the name once, though, so I'd go with something like Sue.
