If the character always has the same first name how will I tell my saves apart on the 360? :D

Junior Inquisitor Vendarius "Chuckles" LaPointe

Junior Inquisitor Vendarius "Grumpy" LaPointe

Junior Inquisitor Vendarius "L'ambassadeur" LaPointe

Hmmm. Dunno.

I kinda thought that "Ser" as a gender-neutral word in DA:O was rather inventive, though it seems several felt that their female characters should be called madame as if it were "Sir" and not "Ser".

I'll go with PC until Bioware names the protagonist.

"Quizzy" is just so....yuck.

Actually, has anyone thought about just having Bioware pick your first name?

I mean, I don't exactly mind having to play a male named Geralt for Witcher, it is still a good game. I don't think it would take anyway too much from my immersion, but was wondering what others thought. I mean, I wouldn't have liked Marian (I'd actually prefer Hawke), but it wouldn't be game "killer" or make me less likely to buy it.

Each time you assign an attribute to a character, you're taking away one more chance for the player to personalize the character to themselves. There is a psychological difference in thinking about playing the story of The Champion, to the story of Hawke, to the story of Marian Hawke. Depending on how important it is to personalize a character for yourself, each subsequent difference could feel like a cheapening of the story even if the gameplay itself doesn't change.

But on the other hand, it gets rid of BioWare's need to get as creative as possible to refer to the main character by name without referring to them by name in a fully voiced game. Best go gender neutral and record the name once, though, so I'd go with something like Sue.

I get that. And if they did pick a first name, I'm sure it would be gender neutral (VO's are expensive, and apparently the PC is the most expensive character)

My main concern would be that I, personally, would dislike it. I wasn't thrilled about Hawke, but at least it wasn't Marian . And at least, it wouldn't be a much of an issue with a personality that doesn't "fit." (I tend to think people reflect their names). Just an idea, but probably one they won't follow through with.

I'd rather not have any nicknames. I don't mind my LI calling my character something like "My love", but I don't care for any pet names beyond that. I think it's better to just be referred to by our title "Greetings, Warden/Champion/Inquisitor" (or even "My lord/lady, ser/madam").

Agreed. This is one of the constant things DA and ME have gotten right. I love this about DA, it makes it feel tailored, inspite of my character's given name not being mentioned.

Please nothing like "Quizzy," "Quizzor" or anything that isn't a title, formality, or a light term of endearment (like King Cousland said, "My Love,").

Maybe we don`t play an inquisitor at all? Maybe we plat an apostate, or something like that.

Instead of just saying the PC, let's give the new protagonist for DA: Inquisition a nickname. That way when we discuss the player character we can differentiate them from the warden, Hawke, Shepherd et al.

Since it's almost a certainty that some one in DAI will be an inquisitor and that person might very well be the PC, might I suggest we call the PC 'Quizzy'?

Quizzy has the advantages of being short (2 syllables) cute, not gender specific and distinctive.

Anyone else have any other ideas?

I can live with this. Names would be preferable, but I wouldn't lose sleep over it.  LIs referred to you as "love" or "dear" and family members called you "brother," "sister," "cousin" etc. in both games.

Cutesy is not the way to go.
