Hair is fine. Beards and stuff could use some work though.

And a way to "face import" your guy so you don't spend 7 hours trying to make him look like the guy from your first run through

Like how Mass Effect had codes for every unique combination?

Basically.

Or even a new game+ option. I've always found it a little weird we never have been given one in DA so far. Remove the level cap and let me max out all of the skills ever!

I'm hoping the new engine will bring progress on this by providing capabilities that did not previously exist.
I want to see something along these lines: http://www.geforce.c...fermi-hair-demo

I'm no expert, but I imagine it would be hard to implement that kind of thing in DA.

And yet it was done, on a limited scale, in DA2 with Flemeth's hair. There may be other examples in DA2 that I'm missing, but that's probably the most prominent.

I wasn't implying hair couldn't move at all (as you point out it was done in DA II), but I'm uncertain it could be done as well as the Nvidia video demonstrated simply due to issues with things like clipping and the frequently "tight-knit" nature of things such as combat in Dragon AgeI. Complex animations such as the one you linked to would seemingly be included more easily in turn-based games such as FF.

I think it can be, though whether it will be done in DA3, or a game or two down the road I wouldn't venture to guess. I don't think it's impossible at this point however, and as a goal to say "this is what we're working towards having in the near future" I think it's perfectly reasonable.
In my view, the major things preventing it from being done are hardware considerations and engine capability.

I was actually looking forward to a long hairstyle, but in DA2 they kind of looked like Dreadlocks, and made your Forehead look gigantic.

In the end I had to use a mod to steal Default Male Hawkes hair.

You mean like Emile De Launcet's hair, Solivitus's hair (the herbalist who needs supplies through each 3 acts), and that god-awful stubble version of Emile's hairstyle?

Look at that cocky smile. What's he so smug about? I hate this dude so much, and I don't fully understand why.

Some new hair would be nice. Having one hair then the next just having braids tacked on is not a "new hairstyle" at least to me.

I can understand there won't be a ton of long, flowing stuff, but sadly, that's the type I like so I normally mod it in.

Hm ...

If braids could be done, maybe some sort of cornrow hairstyle?

I think alot of games are emulating the anime/emo/asian kids of hair that defy gravity or seem to do better in those games, which don't really fit into the gritty, dark DA universe.

One of the problems might be that the hair does look at feel "helmetly". The one with the bangs on it was like they attached a clip on to the front of the hair. Alot of nice ones have that wispy feel, like Fenris.

When I say wispy, I mean like this: http://www.stylishha...tyles-2011-.jpg

The over all character designs are for me... horrid. Which lead to the terrible/hideous hair design (helmet head hair). It's rather like having to live through the 70's again.
So far I have not come across any mod's that work for me. Many are just too over the top and very impractical for fighting darkspawn.
But thank the maker that someone improved the look of Aveline!

I'd be happy if they'd take the existing female hairstyles and fix the darn bangs so they don't make you look like a.) you glued them in place with superglue or b.) you're wearing some kind of helmet made out of hair. Even the most perfect bangs in the world will have a few rogue strands sticking out. That short hair style where it's parted in the middle? Yeah, that makes you look like your head is a crack.

Also, I'd like to be able to have Cullen's hair style on female characters. Thanks.

i generally feel more strongly about things other than hairstyles, but...

i'd love it if they made all the previous hairstyles available to both genders. there were some m! styles i would have loved for my f! wardens/hawkes in each game.

and if my companions or npc's can have a hairstyle, i want to be able to have it too, signature looks be d@mned.

also...did we loose the anora buns in da2? why did that have to happen, exactly?

Use a mod. Such as this one:
http://dragonage.nex...s.com/mods/3593

No matter how many hair styles there are in game, there will be more in mods.

I have to disagree - a lot of my favorite hairstyles for women end at the shoulders. But if we could have some longer styles, or styles that suggest that your hair is longer (like some of the buns and other updo's we've seen, but with more variety) I'd really, really like that.

things like this:
http://t2.gstatic.co...JFh8nqydzeURjml

So we technically get long hair, but without the issues of clipping (assuming that clipping is still an issue once we have Frostbite 2). Long, unsecured hair isn't especially practical for an adventurer anyway - it's just pretty.

Also, our men need low ponytails.  Manly men don't wear their ponytails high like a cheerleader (unless they're David Beckham). Again, I think that was a clipping issue, but Duncan would have looked 20% cooler with a low ponytail.

And I think it would be amazing if we were given different, more elaborate hairstyles if we appear at a ball or other posh event. Posted Image
The guys could have fancy hats, as a masculine alternative.

Looking at this thread, I gut the impression that the Dragon Age team needs to recruit a professional hair stylist.

So who liked the Emile de Launcet hairstyle unironically? No one? Yeah they should get rid of it.

I have mods, so I'm not worried, but the console people need some help. FemHawke's ten variations of bowl cuts did not make me happy. I liked Tallis's hair. Simple ponytail, evidenced that hair could be longer, and I'm not wondering where I have the time to style my curls when I'm killing bandits, dragons, templars and whatnot.

If they'd just stop making some of the best hairstyles, like FemHawke's hair, be unavailable to the players without mods, that would probably help the a lot.

Agree. And Morrigan/Velanna/Athenril's hair, and m!Hawke's beard...

Yes I think that there are a lot of things that I would like to see done to the story, where you are in control and actually have an impact rather than sitting back watching the life of someone else play out and all you do is hit the next button.

But with that said, a major component to enjoying the character you are playing is the character image generation and let's face it, it is bad in Dragon Age and most games. You cannot tell me that with all of the "artists" out there that they cannot find any clothing designers, hairstylists and makeup artist that know what they are doing. When you look at period movie and tv shows like The Tudors, Game Of Thrones, The Borgias, etc. they have the amazing styles from head to toe that actually go along with the time period but they are also very believable and function for action scenes, etc.

Find ppl like that (the modding community is a great start) to help you with character generation, armour and weapon design, alternative clothing design. Stop with the regurgitating of previous sets by just adding a different colour or texture to it. Do some research on clothing of the time period, clothing of design artists that have produced some amazing fantasy armour & weapon art like Boris Vallejo (more skin coverage of course but still a good example) and others like him and then sit down to design some amazing character generation material. It is not THAT difficult it just takes some thought, research and a little invested time in the creation process.

I know it is possible for Bioware because they made Morrigan and Flemeth's style and yet nothing like that was given to us for our characters. Take THAT person, give them a team of ppl that has similiar talent and have them come up with character designs.

Btw, the hairstyles that Brushyourteeth displayed above are amazing! I would love to see that in game for long hair styles and it fits with the time period setting.

I figured for his character it was pretty perfect. Balding and a bowl cut with a terrible duster and a pervy French accent? Perfect.
