Looking at this thread, I gut the impression that the Dragon Age team needs to recruit a professional hair stylist.

And a fashion designer since thedas nobles have terrible taste in clothes.

And better linguists because apparently when voice actors have genuine accents they are fake says the internet.

So who liked the Emile de Launcet hairstyle unironically? No one? Yeah they should get rid of it.

I figured for his character it was pretty perfect. Balding and a bowl cut with a terrible duster and a pervy French accent? Perfect.

But did WE want to make pervy characters with bad accents and handlebar pedostaches? NO! (or maybe  , but I could do without the "Friar Tuck" hair)

Thanks for your opinions. Now please move along and heckle elsewhere. This thread is for folks that want to help dev's not troll posters into silence.

Geez. Go make your own troll thread complaining about other peoples threads.

I especially liked the fact all the Dragon's Dogma hair styles were gender neutral as well.

Here are some pics to help dev's.

Braides can be twisted, curly, parted long or short. The traditional braid that runs straight back from the forhead is a tired style.

Below that I uploaded a Bob with a natural bang. Bangs don't have to look like they are added to the hairstyle. See how this blends?

http://i1145.photobucket.com/albums/o505/bpryor01/Trendy-Braid-Hairstyles-for-African_zps06d9e400.jpg

I like pixie cut / short hair. I loved the default Hawkes hairstyle as well, but didn't like her eyes or that nose paint.

Please note the gentleman's facial hair and eyebrows.

I like hair ornamentation too!  Please see the makeup and eyebrows.

Curly Hair short, long and poneytail.

Punk / Bold Hairstyles. Notice the side is NOT bald. The sidebrow softens this for a female style, but this also can be for men.

Long styles as requested by many people. Please notice the braid is intertwined into the hair, not just lying on top.

Just a few styles here. I could fill up the entire forum with pics, tbh.

edit: Also note that hair without highlights looks dull and flat. Especially in video games.

Nothing at all against More Hairstyles because the imports are usually really well done and it offers variety, but I've been seeing that in nearly every moddable RPG I've played for at least five years. I much prefer Anto Hairstyles. There are qite a lot of cute, shorter hairstyles and longer hairs if you want them, but they'll probably clip into armor.

That said, someone posted about just longing for a decent ponytail, and I'm with whoever said that. It can have bangs or no bangs (as long as the bangs don't start at the crown of the head like DA2's) but please, longer than the nape of the neck and make it look thick. I have no idea why there isn't a decent ponytail in most RPGs but it would likely be an incredibly popular style. My kingdom for a ponytail!

Yes to all those pictures! Perhaps the new engine will allow more natural looking styles or at least a wider range.

Well, yes, and I should have mentioned that the link has images of almost all the hairs if the devs are really looking at making different styles. It's just another option of things that work (mostly) in-game without posting all the pictures.

I support period-style hair. No specific period, but just something that doesn't look contemporary. None that look like they require more bobby pins than Marge Simpson. A regular non-poofed hairstyle for the warrior on-the-go.

Yes! Thanks for the link. I saw some really good things there. Especially the long hairs. I found a Hawke creator online. I won't a photo of his/her work, but here's a link. Total package. Hair, face, earrings, clothes, face. Gorgeous.

I love this! A riot of curls. untameable!

I didn't stick to period hair because DA2 didn't. Honestly, I like the full range instead of a limit time period. It would be nice to just get a mixture with no limits rules for either gender.

I actually really like those hair styles!

I also enjoyed the pixie cut and low pony tail in DA2 - I used them the most for my characters. I thought they didn't only look good, but were battle ready too; well...except for the pony tail because of the bangs. My mages wore that style since they weren't in the thick of the fighting. It's funny, I'm one of those people who does not think it's pragmatic for a woman to go into a fight with long hair in her face, but as soon as I see a gorgeous long hairstyle in a CC I pick it for my character nine times out of ten. I can't help that I'm such a girl...

The bolded part, I agree. The hair my Warden has is utterly impractical right now and there's simply no way she could look like that after a battle or heck, after waking up on the ground in camp. My favorite DA2 hair is actually the default female Hawke or the the bob that was also in DA:O. But I figure that if my PC doesn't have a problem with eyeliner and lipstick, then she can sure as heck have fantastic hair all the time.

Lots of lovely hairstyles in this thread! I would love to see more variety as well.

As for "a decent ponytail" I just re-played Mark of the Assassin and I love Tallis low and sort of flat ponytail. If something like that had been available to my Hawke she would have used it.

I'd like to see more variety in the short hairstyles as well, like cury hair and hopefully more (and better) braids/dreads.

Yeah, I'm more inclined against FF anime hair, but some people like it, and it should be an option. Also longer hair and what not. If I don't like it on my PC, fine, I won't use it (like lady bowl cut 1, 2,3, etc) but console people need some help. A good mix of everything, and I'm not sure it even has to be "period specific" (in my mind, less "trope" is preferable to more)

I have a mod that added Tallis's ponytail to my CC, but without that side bit. I put it on my Hawke, and LOVED it.

"Pretty and pragmatic!"

If anything, they should look at The Witcher 2 or Skyrim;  modern games which simulate medieval-esque hairstyles. Or just movies and tv-series: Game of Thrones, Braveheart, hell even LOTR. Of course, it's not EXACTLY like that, but it fits more than the modern selection people seem to ask for.Posted Image

If you play PC, there's a mod that does that (if you like mods). I mentioned that I used Tallis's hair (w/o bang thing) for my FemHawke, and I have never been more happy with an ingame hairstyle.
