If anything, they should look at The Witcher 2 or Skyrim, modern games which simulate medieval-esque hairstyles. Of course, it's not EXACTLY like that, but it fits more than the modern selection people seem to ask for.

But should it come down to "medieval vs. modern"?

Is there no room for both?

If you play PC, there's a mod that does that (if you like mods). I mentioned that I used Tallis's hair (w/o bang thing) for my FemHawke, and I have never been more happy with an ingame hairstyle.

I'm on xbox so I'm kind of at the developers' whim when it comes to choices of hairstyles unfortunately. :crying:

some unque styles for the pc would be nice I hate having to share the same look with an npc that has no meaning to the world.

I just want more sassy short hair. The pixie cut was nice, but I never chose it, because it's simply impossible to create a FemHawke in the CC that doesn't have a face that looks like a potato. And believe me, I tried. Default FemHawke's hair was great, but unfortunately not available for custom Hawkes.

Really, I could go on for days. There are so many wonderful hairstyles out there and we are forced to settle with some really bad ones. (Not that all of them are bad, mind you.)

I just hope they aren't going the SWTOR route and adding unfitting modern youth hairstyles that make no sense in the context. (if you ever saw male character creation in SWTOR, you'd know). (I mean the ones that look like they had massive amount of gel used, nothing against people who like those, but I don't think they'd fit in a fantasy setting.)

Yes please! More hair variety was in my top 5 things I want in DA3. The two hairstyles I really liked (Morrigan and Default Lady Hawke) weren't available to custom Hawkes/Wardens and it made me sad.

I remember in DAO all I wanted for my spunky redheaded mage was a cute pair of pigtails, but the only hair close enough was the three pigtail look (I think Merrill has it? It's fine, but not for me). I think there's only been maybe two to three hairstyles I've liked from both DA games? This, this, this and this and then this. (Yes, that's five, but the first two and the second two are variations of each other.)

I'm loving the pictures people have been posting. I don't do anything with my hair, so I like my BioWare girls to be pretty and those styles would definitely help! Especially the short hair and the updos. :kissing:

Sorry, didn't mean to rub it in :pinched:
I'm just worried (as well) that, eventually, EA will try the damndest to block modding DA too.

I mean, can I NOT obtain this wihtout modding?

It looks great! If one day I get a really good PC, I'll have to replay a lot of games just to try out some of the mods. *whistful sigh* ;) I hope they don't block modding!

I think more modern hairstyles should certainly be in the CC but possibly not appear on NPCs. So the player has the option to select it or not....

I guess my defintion of modern is a little wide, I meant short hairs, bobs (good ones, not bowl cuts!), simple stuff as opposed to fantasy braids and buns everywhere when I meant "modern." I really prefer shorter hairs in my game.

If I want Final Fantasy hair, I'll put it in my game. I don't think it should be on NPCs if it is in CC either.

I'm just concerned about basically what EA did to Sims (force people into an EA store to buy new models and textrues that were worse than what people were making for free, or making insane amounts of cash by charging for it - like TSR) and they might see people making some many new CC stuff for DA and force us into a store too. Or otherwise, make modding harder. We have done it without a toolset for DA2, but that wasn't an encouraging move. The item packs made me even more nervous.

I would have said "It's only Sims," but I heard of texture packs and new cars for Gran Turismo or some sort of racing game that they charge for.

In all the RPG's I play I do a second playthrough with a female character, I always try to make a realistic looking fem warrior so please Bioware, add a few short haircuts. I do not want my fem character to have 6ft long flowing hair in close brutal meele combat.

A haircut like this would be perfect:

Dear Bioware: Please do not make hairstyles that are unique to your preset version of the character, a la Hawke and Lady Hawke. Let us customize our characters using everything you made.

Yes, plz!

I really liked those long hairstyles. And the pixie one.

It's just the comb over thing in DA2. The part way back at the crown and swooped to the front. And we all know......

As far as the practical side--the "warrior on the go" (loved that phrase), maybe if we could have a place at our lair?/camp?--where we could change our hairstyle, at least, whenever we wanted.

That way when we were going into battle we could pick a pony tail, or updo. And when we were say going into town for supplies; meeting sum nobles; perhaps a fancy party?, we could pick a longer hairstyle again.

I would like that. I mean, as long as we're writing down our suggestions and putting them in the BW suggestion box. Yes. I would like that. Besides, sometimes I just want to change my hairstyle.

I know most of y'all are talking about women's hairstyles but I wanna throw my voice in for better guys' styles, too! I habitually only use THREE different hairstyles in DA2 and only one in DA:O. It sucks. All my guys end up looking alike =\\

Actually, I think they should just put them all together instead of separating what they think is an appropriate female/male hairstyle. Let us pick.

And although, I haven't seen the guys' hairstyles, I imagine they must be on par with the female hairstyles. So, yes! Better hair for everyone!

Everybody deserves good hair.

I'd just like to see hairstyles that are unique to the player character. It somehow irks me when I see clones of my character running about all over the game. I'm supposed to be a special hero snowflake!

Edit: Oh, and I want practical hair! Long, flowing hair is all well and good when you're an accountant, but when your job is to kill things, I imagine you'd take every precaution to get your hair out of your face. If I could have practial, unique AND good looking hair, my life would be complete. ^_^

I was a fan of the male hairstyle that has a flip in the front. I think that looks good. Other than that there wasn't really great hairstyles in Origins. DA2 had some better styles. I like Sebastian's hair style but not exactly his the version of it that has bangs parted to right. I used it for my main character. Next playthrough I wanna change my characters appearance as years go on. I think they should keep the mirror for DA3 for that reason so that way as time goes on I can change his hair and stuff to account for the passage of time.Or if I don't like how my character came out.

So. Much. This.

I've mentioned my distate for the dreadful male hairstyles a few times on these forums...Not just the ones in DA, but in every bioware game ever. Frankly, they suck in this regard. I mean, most game companies do, but bioware games are where I care most about what my character looks like, and these are objectively hideous. They should never have made it into the game...Maybe they could have been replaced with something, you know, good? Actually, someone jokingly suggested bringing in a professional hair stylist and my only thought was "why not?" Or, just consult me for a few reference pictures Posted Image

And for the record, mods do not provide good short hairstyles for male characters. I repeat, short hairstyles. The vast majority of male hairstyles in mods are long; in fact, a lot of them just take already-present female hairstyles and put them on a male head. In all the mods I've seen since DAO came out, I've found exactly one hairstyle I sort of liked.

Ignoring the fact that there was only one decent male hairstyle in SWTOR (Bioware does it again Posted Image) I rather hope they do go this route. There are plenty of "anachronistic" (in quotes because it's not an actual historical setting) elements in the DA universe. Why can't modern male hairstyles be one of them?

It was nice to have additional hair styles for DA2, but I didn't use any of them. The new ones were mostly ridiculous and I didn't want my Hawke character to look like Emile De Launcet and etc.  As others have mentioned, I also always end up using the same one or two hairstyles, and my characters end up all looking the same.

I'd also like to see improved facial hair so the beards don't look like they're glued on to my character. Despite wanting to give my character a beard, I usually end up settling with scruff because it looks more natural.

Bioware should just go play Skyrim and get ideas for hair and beards from there. Hair can be really hard to do well with low poly meshes, but it was decent in Skyrim.

I totally support better, not-plastic hair for both gender.

I personally prefer short hairstyles for my female characters and at least there was one in DA2, two if we consider the default option.
Oh, and about that: can we have the default hairstyle as an option for our custom characters? Especially if it's blatantly better than the rest?
