If it is for game lore that
Orlesians are to be not liked, then more than likely my character won't
be happy to see them. But if my character is one in the game, I think
it would be a bit of fresh air to play as one.

I mean, wasn't Aveline's father from there? She was awesome.

Aveline was awesome, and hated/despised Orlesians. Or so I gathered from her mentioning them and when she got the gift. Must say alot lol.

I freaking love the Orlesians and their ridiculous hats, silly cheeses, fancy armors, pretentious attitudes, and nonsensical accents! Everyone should sound like Lady de Launcet

Hell. No.

I think blood magic is at work here..

If it weren't for Orlais, all of Thedas would be a great deal more wrinkly. Val Royaux produces all manner of cosmetic oils for smoothing out skin.

The Oil of Orlais is world famous.

Isn't her father Orlesian?

Wall flowers, stinky cheese, silly hats, bad haircuts, I could go on but I don't want nightmares of ze accent.

Of the four things you listed, I'm love stinky cheeses and am fond of silly hats and wall flowers. So those are selling points. One can only hope the graphics warriors will slay the demon of ugly haircuts in time for DAI.

As for silly accents, Marjolaine and Isolde were a bit much but Leliana was pleasant and Riordan sounded like pure sex.

Granted, if all of the male Orlesians sounded like Riordan we'd be swamped with demands that most of the NPCs in the game be made LIs.

However, that was the exception that proved the rule, as far as I was concerned.  I didn't care for Leliana's accent and hated Marjolaine and Isolde.  Mostly Isolde.  :pinched:

Hmm. Blights on purity are bad. The Orlesians must be destroyed.

Orlesians are all Darkspawn wearing excessive makeup and perfume.

FACT.

Don't do it when those Orlesian Wardens tell you to taste their taint.

Not all Orlesians are bad. Some of their accents are horrible, but a couple are good. Like Riordan, Leliana, and the main antagonist of the Assassin DLC. Hopefully Bioware will go less silly with some of the NPC's voices.

I didn't want to laugh at this, but I did.  Well played.

not all Orlesians are like that we've only seen a very small percentage of them. please hold of any judgements until we see what they are really like. in the meantime go read asunder maybe you'll think they're a little less silly afterwards. I for one can't wait to go

Somebody tell me why this topic hasn't yet been filled with "The Orlesian Grey Wardens are here!" images?

If the majority of Orlesians sound like Riordan or Leliana, I'll live. I'm okay with the odd comedy character having a French Taunter accent and the use of some French stereotypes. I have no problem with humour in Dragon Age, but this isn't a Peter Molyneux game and I expect BioWare will keep that in mind.

Picture Isolde as a companion. Her battle cry being "TEEEEGAAAAN!"

I have to admit, that would entertain me for a couple of hours.

Forget talking to Orlesians... I demand the PC BE ORLESIAN! He/She must also have an OUTRAGEOUS! Orlesian accent, think Isolde combined with finger nails on a chalkboard... That would give us the BEST voiced protag EVAR!

As long as the males are voiced by Stephane Cornicard, I'll be a happy camper. Riordan and Stroud. 'Nuff said.

I want him to voice an Orlesian protagonist. Posted Image

Riordan was boss.

I highly doubt everyone in Orlais sounds French.

They do if you're Fereldan, but of course Orlesians sound normal to each other. I suspect our character will be from Orlais, too, thus eliminating the need for a game full of wacky accent.

If I want to hear a bunch of people with fake french accents talking, I will just get on a place for a 3 hour flight north to Canada...

No, I need the Orlesians and all their douchebag glory, mainly so I can play an evil character and feel no guilt for once!

Well, personally I think that english accent is kinda stinky and disgusting, so I'll be very happy to be surrounded by the inherently superior french accent!

orlais is my least favorite nation in the dragon age universe. its awful. I would prefwer it if da3 took place somewhere else, however if everybody sounded more like riordan and leleina and less like isole (whiny bleepbloop) i guess i can bare it...

At least we won't be in Orlais for the entire game. Some pretentious Orlesians sounds like a great counterpart to hanging out with stuffy magisters and sleazy Antivans!!  Posted Image

I'd like absurd Orlesians that stamp their feet and say "teyyyyyyrnip" as a way of insulting you.  However, they should be the exception.  I'd like for there to be a variety of Orlesians with most of them being sane.  In general, ideally Bioware would combat the stereotypes some gamers will have going into the game by having a number of admirable (or at least compelling) Orlesians in the mix.
