It's pretty maddening when you're trying to save aomeone from a sync and you target a swarm/er at your feet.

I read an article about the algorithms Halo's aim assist uses and it sounds a lot better (PS3 player here, so I don't know from playing). It talked about a weaker target attraction that sped up reticule placement when you scan toward and enemy, and slowed down reticule movement moving away from an enemy, so it wasn't this hard snap like we have on ME3. Sounded a lot better, maybe Halo player can comment.

I can attest to the quality of Halo's aim assist, it's subtle but always just enough to ensure gameplay is smooth. Unless you're looking for it you hardly even notice it's there. It's one of the reasons the Halo series has been so popular, the gameplay and mechanics like that are very well refined and polished.

Honestly ME3 is the first game I've actually had a real bad issue with the aim assist, the "snap to target when zooming" functionality is extremely strong, depending on the circumstances you can end up aiming nearly 90 degrees away from your intended target or the place your reticule was pointed at originally. This is one thing they really really need to improve going forward into a new ME game.

I have had the same issues with Halo's 'magnetism' style aiming assistance. It has on occasion shifted my aim to the chest of the enemy when I was strafing instead of aiming to line up a head shot, it is certainly some of the better aim assistance I've seen in a console game, but it is still not perfect.

I've had similar issues as others have mentioned in ME3, giving players the option would be nice.

Option on or off is fien somedays I need it on to perfom quick shots, as it centers up just right at times with my BW, it's how I can blas tup foes really fast with a BW I zoom the scope quick, I can't do this on reapers though and rather have it off then, as swarmers are the issue then

I support this. Can't even look down the sights of a shotgun without this crap ruining the shot you had lined up. PC players already have it easier in terms of aiming and we have to deal with this crap. Aim assist does everything but assist you.

If Swarmers were removed from the assist list, that would help a great deal.

Ideally, auto-assist would give higher preference to targets closest to the center of your screen, rather than the least distance from your character.

I agree, the auto-snap-near-target is often a hindrance because it pulls no where near the target you are actually trying to line up. However... if you play COD and are familiar with quick scoping, you can exploit this mechanic for some pretty easy & fast sniper shots.

If I had the option, I would turn it off. But for now, I compensate by simply taking the shot, regardless of where my sight pops to.

I hated trying to use a sniper rifle and not being able to turn this off.

Weird thing is, now I've incorporated the mechanic into my gameplay so much for so long, I'm not sure what would happen to my success rate if I turned it off.

Still, I support the option of turning it off. Especially in combination with sensitivity-options for Joystick thumbsticks.

Auto aim assist is REALLY slowing my progress to sniper mastery. So many times I've lined up a longshot, zoomed in, only to be aiming at a wall/floor many metres/yards from my target, with no enemy in the sights' area. I suspect this to be lag related, but without aim assist at least I could be sure.

Tried to zoom in on a prime the other day... ended up zooming in on his turret. Not very helpful.

God I wish they would add an option to turn it off. But we'll probably get that option right around the time they get around to releasing an updated version of Deception.

Consoles are not about options. Conform! Comply! Peasants!
