Ugh, right, aim assist will often point you at a wall. Presumably there's an enemy behind the wall... Either way, it's ridiculous and I really hope BioWare considers adding a toggle in a future patch (or explains why they can't make changes to snap-to-target, if that's the case).

Because every console game with weapons have aim assist
There is usually some form of aim assist, yes (like slowing of sensitivity when aiming down sights, or acceleration smoothing), but many games give you the option to turn it off or have a very limited degree of sensitivity (Battlefield 3, MAG, Gears of War). There is NO NEED for snap-to-target, though. It makes sniping more difficult for decent players! So why isn't there an option to turn it off?

From my experience turning off aim assist only made it harder for me to hit stuff.

Sry but I'm on ps3 and have zero problems quickscoping with my black widow X, therefore I don't really get your point to be honest.
I don't know what to say. Quickscoping on Xbox has been a huge pain in the rear for me since I frequently find myself looking at a wall or another enemy far away from where I was originally aiming. This isn't me being a bad player; the game literally snaps me to ridiculous places when I scope. Maybe you're not having issues, but plenty of players are (as this thread shows), so I think there should be an option to turn off snap-to-target. Maybe the issue is less pronounced on the PS3?

Maybe in the next ME then, highly doubt they will implement it at this stage of the game.
Edit: I'm not able to quickscope effective with for example Javelin though. You just need to get this feel for the sniper you're using if you know what I mean.

Definitely. Each sniper works differently and you have to get used to that.
I've been finding that sniping while the game knows you are behind cover helps. You're more likely to get snapped to the wrong target when running about, which is very frustrating for those who like to keep moving and quick scope.
I'm still curious to know if the BioWare team considered adding a toggle within the game options for aim assist/snap-to-target. Is there a reason it wasn't done or can't be added in a future patch?

An aim assist toggle option would be most welcome. Around 80% of the time aim assist screws me over when sniping >.<
Yep. Did those who played the demo notice that snap-to-target wasn't present then? Or is that crazy talk?

Typical scenario: Turns a corner and bumps into a couple basic troops, aims down sight and gets the enemy standing furthest away ¬¬ It wouldn't be soo bad if re-aiming locked onto the target i actually wanted to shoot (i.e. the one in my face) but this is rarely the case.
Sniping in ME3 mp is bog standard, there's no idle sway or hold breath required, so bugger me if i know why you even need assistance.
