Actually, what I appreciate most (besides the smoking hawt accent and all that) is while she is a spiritual/religious character, she also has the ability to reject the dogma of the chantry where it conflicts with her own disposition/faith. I contrast her to Ashley from ME: also somewhat religious but with a far more 'fundamentalist' attitude, IMO. I would love to know Liliana IRL, but I really can't be bothered with the Ashley's of the world. I thought some of the banter with Morrigan was great: on both sides. Morrigan the decided atheist and Leliana the deliberately optimistic theist. For me, it was really pleasant to have a much more 'sympathetic' character to spend time with in game. I think there's more depth to her story than some folks credit.
But yeah, whoever wrote her, bloody good job! Now, get to work writing more of her for DA2!
